Chapter 50

"Damn it! Who the hell are those guys?!"

While riding the Wyze Parrot through the sky, the leader of the bandits, Gilem, roared.

"Finally, our bandit business in this country was getting on track, and now it's all ruined!"

The kingdom has a low crime rate compared to other countries due to the frequent patrols by the knights. However, this also means that for Gilem, there are fewer competitors in the same line of work. In other words, if he could establish a method to avoid being caught by the knights, he could monopolize the business without overlapping with other bandits.

The cunning Gilem found a knight who was greedy for money and bribed him. By getting inside information from the knight, he had managed to avoid capture and continue his thieving.

But all of that was ruined because of Louis and Wolf.

However, Gilem still had hope.

"...But it's a good thing I brought this and the bird. Selling both will bring in a decent amount of money."

The Wyze Parrot is a rare creature and can be sold to collectors for a high price, enough to build a small house. And there was one more thing. The "this" Gilem referred to was the bracelet on his wrist. The silver bracelet with a large pink gemstone was a treasure he had found by chance in a ruin near the kingdom. Although he couldn't determine its age or material, Gilem's instincts as a bandit told him it was an incredible treasure.

"Hehe, I won't forgive them. Once I regroup, I'll definitely take my revenge...!"

With this resolve, Gilem flew toward the outskirts of the kingdom. And there was a shadow following him.

A black shadow leaping from roof to roof. It was Wolf, transformed into a black wolf, with Louis riding on his back.

Louis pointed at a green shadow flying in the sky.

"There! Over there!"

"Ha, don't think you can escape from us, you damn bandit!"

Wolf's speed was incredible. He ran with astonishing speed on the uneven surfaces of the rooftops, which would be difficult for anyone else. His speed was on par with Merel, who specialized in speed.

"But how do we get up that high...?"

"Ah!? That's easy, just do this!"

Wolf accelerated.

"Wh-what? No way!!"

Louis, sensing what was about to happen, clung tightly to Wolf.

"Let's go! Hold on tight!!"

At top speed, Wolf coiled his body like a spring and kicked off the ground. Maintaining his speed, he jumped and ascended rapidly... and amazingly, he leaped to the height at which the Wyze Parrot was flying.
