Gu Jiao bent down and picked up the cane on the ground with her left hand, then walked to Xiao Liulang and handed it to him.
Xiao Liulang took the cane indifferently and leaned on it to stand up.
He went to pick up the bucket that had fallen to the ground.
"You go," Gu Jiao said to Gu Xiaoshun.
"Okay." Gu Xiaoshun walked over with a hop, picking up the bucket before Xiao Liulang.
"Go get water," Gu Jiao said to Gu Xiaoshun.
"Go get water!" Gu Xiaoshun said to one of his henchmen.
The henchman's mouth twitched, and he grabbed the bucket to get water.
Xiao Liulang walked back expressionlessly, not saying a word throughout the process.
It wasn't until he was far away that Gu Xiaoshun spoke again: "Sis, what's going on? You don't hate him anymore? And sis, how did you get so strong? What move was that just now? Show it to me again! I'll use it too!"
Gu Jiao shot him a glare.
Gu Xiaoshun shut his mouth reluctantly.
"Boss! Water's here!" The henchman carried a full bucket of water and walked over quickly.
"Still not bringing it to my sis... cough." Under Gu Jiao's oppressive gaze, Gu Xiaoshun took the bucket, "Alright, give it to me, all of you, scatter!"
"Are we still going to the neighboring village to... "
"Fight what? Get lost! Get lost for me!"
The henchmen dispersed.
Gu Xiaoshun smiled at Gu Jiao: "Sis, don't be angry. If you don't hate your husband anymore, I won't bully him anymore."
"Do you often bully him?" Gu Jiao asked.
Gu Xiaoshun scratched his head: "Not... often, maybe three or four times a month, four or five times? Five or six or seven or eight times?"
The more he talked, the quieter he got. He had a bad memory and didn't even know how many times he had bullied him.
"Let's go back." Gu Jiao said.
"Okay!" Gu Xiaoshun smiled and carried the bucket, following Gu Jiao.
Suddenly, he stopped, his gaze landing on Gu Jiao's stiff right arm: "Sis, did you hurt your hand?"
"It's nothing." Gu Jiao said.
"It's nothing! It's bleeding!" Gu Xiaoshun put down the bucket, grabbed Gu Jiao's arm, and rolled up her sleeve, revealing a blood-red wrist, "Was it from my stick just now?"
"It's nothing, I said." Gu Jiao pulled her hand back.
"What about your head?"
"I hit it before falling into the water."
The wound was hidden in her hair, how did this kid's eyes see it so clearly?
Gu Xiaoshun asked again: "You fell into the water? When?"
Gu Jiao walked away without looking back.
"Hey! Sis! Sis! Wait for me!"
When Gu Xiaoshun followed Gu Jiao home, he was surprised to find a young scholar standing at the door. He was dressed in a long robe, refined and elegant, but with a hint of arrogance in his eyes.
"Who are you? What are you doing at my sis's place?" Gu Xiaoshun asked, hands on his hips.
The scholar didn't even look at Gu Xiaoshun, only giving Gu Jiao a cold glare: "Did you let someone bully Xiao Brother again? You wicked woman!"
"How dare you insult my sis?" Gu Xiaoshun put down the bucket and swung his fist at the man.
Don't underestimate him just because he's thirteen; he was truly capable of fighting, which is why he became the top hooligan in the area.
A weak scholar was no match for him.
"Xiaoshun." Gu Jiao called him.
At the same moment, Xiao Liulang came out of the house, having changed his clothes.
"My classmate," Xiao Liulang said to Gu Jiao and Gu Xiaoshun.
The classmate snorted disdainfully, went over to support Xiao Liulang, and took the heavy bag from his hand: "Let's go!"
Gu Xiaoshun was stunned to see Xiao Liulang with his bag: "Where are you going?"
He couldn't be scared off and really planning to leave, could he?
The classmate didn't want to deal with Gu Xiaoshun.
Gu Jiao didn't ask much, just walked into the house silently.
As she passed Xiao Liulang, he glanced at her slightly stiff right hand.
Gu Jiao covered her hand with her sleeve, hiding the blood on her wrist.
But as she entered the house, she heard Xiao Liulang's somewhat cold voice: "I'm going to town."
"To treat your leg?" Gu Jiao asked instinctively.
For some reason, Gu Jiao thought of that dream. She didn't really believe in it, but...
"Are you having an exam in three days?" Gu Jiao looked at him.
A flash of surprise crossed Xiao Liulang's eyes, but he nodded: "...Yes."
The classmate said irritably: "Why are you telling her this? Be careful she doesn't stop you from going! You missed your last exam because of her! And your leg, if she hadn't locked you in, you wouldn't have missed the chance to see Doctor Zhang!"
Gu Jiao turned to look at Gu Xiaoshun.
She didn't remember these things.
Gu Xiaoshun pointed at the man: "Can you speak properly? What do you mean she stopped him from going? My sis was sick, and he left her right after their wedding. Was that right?"
At this, Gu Jiao remembered. The original owner did indeed fall ill shortly after the wedding, but it wasn't a real illness; it was an act. Someone told her that if Xiao Liulang left, he wouldn't come back, and she would be a young widow like Xue Ningshen.
She didn't want to be a young widow, so she locked Xiao Liulang up.
She didn't know that because of this, Xiao Liulang missed the exam six months ago and the only chance to treat his leg.
Gu Jiao looked at Xiao Liulang's leg: "Actually..."
"Xiao Brother, let's go! The carriage is still waiting at the village entrance!" The classmate interrupted Gu Jiao, pulling Xiao Liulang away without looking back.
"I want osmanthus cake!" Gu Jiao suddenly came out, looking at Xiao Liulang, "Li's osmanthus cake! I only eat theirs! If you don't bring it back, I won't let you in! And I'll burn all your books!"
"Wicked woman!" The classmate gritted his teeth, helping Xiao Liulang into an old carriage at the village entrance, "Xiao Brother, don't listen to her! Li's is a well-known brand, and their osmanthus cake is hard to get! By the time you buy it, Doctor Zhang will be gone! He's a doctor from the capital, better than any in town, and only he can treat your leg. Don't let that wicked woman drag you down!"
"That's my sis, she should boss him around like that!" Gu Xiaoshun gave Gu Jiao a thumbs up.
Gu Jiao rubbed her forehead: "Do you know where the market is?"
Gu Xiaoshun nodded: "Yes, why are you asking? Are you going? For what?"
"To sell chickens."
"Chickens? Where did you get them?"
"Wild chickens."
She didn't mention that she had taken the money for the consultation.
Gu Xiaoshun assumed she had caught them herself: "Sis, I notice you've changed, you're stronger than before!"
Not that she wasn't foolish, but she was stronger than before. Gu Xiaoshun had never treated the original owner as a fool.
Gu Xiaoshun told her the direction to the market. The market and the clinic were both in town, just in different directions.
Gu Xiaoshun insisted on going with her, but Gu Jiao refused.
The Gu family didn't like Gu Xiaoshun and Gu Jiao being too close, saying that Gu Jiao's foolishness would rub off on him.
Gu Jiao went back to the house, opened the small medicine box, and cleaned the wound with iodine, applying some antibacterial ointment.
She was so hungry.
Gu Jiao went to the kitchen.
