In the stead of the pure whiteness of Goddess Space, blue skies and white clouds surrounded us. With them, the sun was visible, shining down dazzling sunlight.
What a beautiful view! Well, only that…
“Iyaaaaaa!”
Meryl and I were still falling from the sky. Damn it!
Also, Meryl was doing nothing but screaming.
“Goddess’ powers,” my ass!
“Oi, Meryl, calm down! Now’s the time for you to use your goddess powers!”
“I don’t have that much power!”
“You can’t use them!?”
“A goddess can’t use their powers during transference!”
Of course, these kinds of limitations would…
…this is no time to take in the situation! We have to slow down the fall somehow!
“Meryl! Did you get any special perks when transferring?”
“Eh… Y-yeah!”
“Then use it! Something might happen!”
Nodding to my words, Meryl closed her eyes.
As she did, her body became smaller and smaller, eventually turning into a fairy.
“Yaaaaaah! Eh… what? I ended up becoming small… am I a fairy?”
Ah! Awesome! Her perk was being able to turn into a fairy!
She has wings, so I’m safe… not!
“Oiiiiii!? Why’re you only helping yourself? Help me out here!”
“Y-yes!”
Flapping her small wings, Meryl used both of her hands to lift the sleeve of my clothes.
“I’m… saved…”
I was able to stop falling…
“Ugh… Uuuuuuu!”
Hm? Why does it sound like Meryl is groaning?
Also… I still seem to be descending?
“M-Meryl?”
Oi… Oi! Could it be…
As I turned my head upwards to look at Meryl…
“This is heavy… I can’t hold on!”
“Waaaaaai-!?”
She let go, and I started falling quickly once again.
“I’ll remember this, Meryl!!!”
This is not the time or place to be shouting! Is there any way I could prevent this fall?
I had… nothing but a revolver and a sword on me! …no, since this is a different world, I’ve got to use magic!
…how do you use magic, anyway!?
The ground is right in front of me… this is bad!
“Privilege, activate!”
I posed with both my arms angled upwards, but nothing happened, and I hit the ground… leaving a crater in the shape of me.
“A-Aruto-san!?”
Meryl came down slowly and took a peek into the me-shaped crater.
I got up vigorously and gripped Meryl.
“Oi! Why’d you let go of me, you useless goddess!?”
As I showed my demonic side, Meryl felt fear.
“B-but… you were heavy…”
“But that doesn’t mean you should just mercilessly let me go! I came dangerously close to dying!”
Well, I’m still alive, so… I guess it’s fine?
“B-but… you’re still alive, so all’s well! That went great, didn’t it?”
“This is definitely not great!”
I moved the hand that I clutched Meryl in around, and shook it around. I could hear Meryl screaming incomprehensibly.
After shaking her for a bit, I let go of her, and she returned to her original form.
She was dressed like a mage, while I looked like an adventurer with starter gear.
“Well, despite that, I’m safe.”
“The enhanced physical power you got from transferring worked wonders.”
I see. It seems that one of my perks came in handy.
“Meryl, do you know about any of my perks?”
“Yes! I may be a novice, but I’m still a goddess!”
Well then, time to ask… what my perks are.
“So, aside from enhanced physical attributes, what other perks do I have?”
“First off, visualize a bag.”
A bag…?
I visualized a bag just as Meryl said, and sure enough, a bag appeared in front of me.
“That is the Infinity Bag… True to its name, it can hold an infinite amount of items.”
The Infinity Bag, though it had a lame name, it was a useful item.
“Then you also have your sword and revolver… those are your perks.”
…Hm? Wait a minute.
“Huh!? That’s it?”
“Yes. That’s it.”
Seriously!?
“You’re kidding, right?! Don’t I have some sort of cheat powers or something?”
“Ines-san believes that cheat powers aren’t interesting!”
Ines…! I exhale, slightly scornful. She must be smiling right now.
“Haa… well, I guess I have to get stronger in this world. By the way, what’s the bracelet that both of us have on our right arms?”
“It’s the Condition Brace. You can use it to check your level, status… and your name and profession as well.”
Hmm… By touching the Condition Bracelet, it seems that a screen with my status will appear.
As I touched my Condition Bracelet, a screen with my status showed up.
Asou Aruto… so that’s my name in this world…
My status showed physical attack, magical attack, physical defense, magical defense, agility, and evasion.
Other than that, fatigue and hunger were also displayed.
So there are no displays for HP or MP… Now for clas- hm? There’s nothing written…?
“Meryl… There isn’t any class written next to my name.”
“Eh…? It’s written here that I’m a mage, though…”
I took a look at Meryl’s status.
“Name: Meryl Sheening.” “Mage” could be seen written next to it.
Apparently, there were seven combat classes in this world: swordsman, musketeer, pugilist, shield fighter, mage, spearman, and axeman. There were also two support classes: smelters and blacksmiths.
Meryl thought for a while, then raised her head as if she realized something.
“Are you… classless?”
C-classless!?
“Yes. Someone without a class. It isn’t that unusual, but…”
“…in the case of adventurers?”
“…unheard of.”
Yeah! I’m starting my adventure without a class! I’m so thrilled!
“Seriously!? Damn, I can’t fight like this!”
“If I recall, having a class allows access to multiple powerful skills.”
Eh… so that means…
“So… am I limited to learning only common skills!?”
“I g-guess so…”
Haa… this cross-world transfer isn’t going as well as I thought…
“Hey, Meryl. You’re a mage, right? What kind of skills do you have?”
In this world, there was Physical Magic for physical attacks, Induct Magic for indirect attacks, and Support Magic that provides healing and shields.
“Currently, I only have ‘Heal’.”
Right now, I have no spare rounds for my gun, nor do I have recovery items. I’ll have to depend on Meryl’s heals.
“Well, anyway, let’s head to a city. What’s the nearest one?”
“Izuruli City.”
“Then, let’s head there.”
We then faced towards Izuruli City, and we walked onward…
