It's a nice day today. Good morning!
It's a morning where I'm waiting alone in my room.
I finished my second day of work with the paperwork team, and I was supposed to have the day off today, but a problem has arisen.
Dilnan is working as usual today.
Of course, it's only natural that the captain who leads the team can't be preoccupied with a child forever.
However, leaving a child who doesn't understand much on his own was firmly rejected.
So, what's going to happen is that after the health check-up, I'll be taken care of by Vincent's medical team.
Since it's my first time being taken care of by the medical team, I'm apparently going to help out for the whole day.
He originally said it would be half a day.
Apparently, Vincent is taking the day off tomorrow. So, instead of today, tomorrow will be my day off, and after today's work, I'll be staying at Vincent's place.
This schedule was decided after a three-way meeting between Dilnan, Vincent, and Elies.
So, I'm waiting in my room until Vincent comes to pick me up.
I'm dressed in my usual clothes. They said it's fine to wear the nurse's uniform they prepared for me. The speed at which the Kalaf team works is really amazing.
While I was thinking about such trivial matters, there was a knock on the door.
I glanced at the clock, and it was around the time breakfast was being served.
"Yuri"
Hearing Vincent's voice a bit late after the knock, I dashed to the door.
When I opened it forcefully, Vincent looked a bit surprised.
"Vincent-taicho! Good morning!!"
"Ah, good morning. You seem energetic today. ...It's good to see that the bruise on your cheek has calmed down a lot."
"It doesn't hurt anymore."
After greeting him, Vincent smiled gently. His gaze then fell on my cheek. I'm not using a bandage anymore. The scar should fade completely soon.
Thank you for taking care of me and my stomach bugs.
"Normally, I'd like to go straight to breakfast, but let's do the health check-up first."
"Ah..."
When Vincent declared that breakfast would have to wait, I could feel my eyebrows drooping.
Even my stomach, which had been quiet until now, made a small growling sound.
Come to think of it, health check-ups need to be done on an empty stomach, don't they?
"It's just a basic check-up, so it won't take long."
"I'll do my best..."
"You're a good kid."
I'm not a little kid, so I'm not going to throw a tantrum here.
If I have the time, I'll finish the health check-up quickly and eat breakfast!
I was led by Vincent to the medical room.
I thought there would be fewer people since it was early in the morning, but there are as many team members here as there were the other day at lunchtime.
Isn't the medical team's start time usually two hours after breakfast is served, as Elies told me?
"...Everyone seems to be here unusually early today."
"I'm organizing the medical records."
"I have some medicine I want to prepare."
"I thought I'd check the inventory early."
When Vincent addressed the gathered team members, they all responded with very cheerful voices.
Ah, this must be a special day.
Most of the people around, including some older men, are wearing the nurse's uniform, but not all of them are in white. Some are in light blue, light green, and navy blue. There weren't any in pink, though (laughs).
"Good morning!"
"Good morning."
First, I greeted everyone.
"My name is Yuri. I'll be in your care today, please take care of me."
After greeting everyone, I got responses from various directions.
It's a given, but it's still nice to get a response.
"Everyone seems to have their own work to do, so you can be on your own, Yuri. Finish the health check-up quickly and have breakfast."
"Okay!"
*rumble*
...My stomach.
I thought it had been unusually quiet, but it reacted to Vincent's mention of food.
Thanks to that, I ended up providing some laughs for the medical team.
The health check-up included measuring my height, weight, and waist circumference, vision and hearing tests, urine and blood tests, blood pressure and heart sound checks, and a brief consultation with Vincent. It was a perfect basic check-up.
I had been given a container for the urine test the day before, so I brought the sample I prepared in the morning.
Dilnan tried to help, but I firmly refused. I activated the "I can do it myself!" mode.
It was a close call, but I managed to avoid a potentially embarrassing situation.
When it came to the blood test, I almost teared up at the sight of the syringe, but then some of the nurse-style guys appeared and started a puppet show with a stuffed animal they pulled out from somewhere. I was so captivated that I didn't even feel the pain thanks to Vincent's expert skills.
The consultation was uneventful.
When I asked about the bathroom issue, I was told there was no problem.
Apparently, going more than twice is fine. However, holding it in or going just once is bad for your health.
The demon body is really high-spec. Well, they do live for hundreds of years. The base is different.
Thanks to Vincent's efficient work and the help of two navy-blue uniformed guys who appeared to assist with the medical records and preparations, the check-up was completed very quickly.
After thanking Vincent and the guys around, the health check-up was over.
...Now, it's time to unleash my appetite.
"Taicho, food? Food??"
"Ah, let's go have breakfast."
I jumped off the chair, tugged on the hem of Vincent's white coat, and called out to him. He agreed with a smile.
*rumble*
With my stomach joining in the request, Vincent, while laughing, asked the two assistants to take care of the rest and stood up.
"Let's go to breakfast!"
"Have a good trip."
Holding Vincent's hand—well, his fingers—and calling out to the guys, they saw us off with smiles.
Alright, let's head to the cafeteria! The goal is breakfast!!
