Chapter 3 of 10
Chapter 3
6 min read1,603 words
From the second to the fifth floor of the dungeon, only goblins appeared. Even so, there were various types of goblins, such as the Goblin Shaman specialized in magic and the Goblin Fighter specialized in close combat. Occasionally, a Goblin Captain would appear, but they no longer felt particularly strong.
More importantly, the skills of Early Maturity and Super Dynamic Vision were doing an incredible job.
First, Super Dynamic Vision. With this skill, I could predict the enemy's next move from their muscle movements, center of gravity, and eye contact. Therefore, I hardly used the throwing spear strategy, except when fighting Goblin Shamans, and could mostly win in close combat. Moreover, with each battle, Super Dynamic Vision optimized and became easier to use. This was probably because the skill's effect multiplier was based on my original dynamic vision, which was improving.
Additionally, the Early Maturity skill was doing a fantastic job. Until now, I had vaguely felt that my strength and speed were increasing. However, now I could clearly feel myself growing.
As a result, battles with monsters had become a simple routine.
The flow of defeating goblins was as follows:
- Throw a spear at the Goblin Shaman to take them down.
- Use Water Floor to hinder their movement.
- Run up close, dodge their attacks, and release a wave of water, then stab their head with a dagger as they stagger.
- Repeat this process.
Occasionally, the Goblin Captain would appear, but the ease with which my weapon pierced them made it seem like a lie that they were supposed to be a boss battle. It was clear that the issue was not the weakness of the weapon but my own strength.
The bosses on each floor were progressively stronger types of goblins. However, it was disappointing that I did not obtain any skill scrolls, which I had been hoping for. Perhaps they were extremely rare drops. If so, the skill scroll I obtained on the first floor might have been beginner's luck.

Then, upon descending to the sixth floor, I found a door right next to the entrance. When I opened it, there was a room that looked like a resting area.
Inside, there was a kitchen, and even a tatami mat area of six tatami mats. It was a strange feeling to find a normal room in such a place.
But that didn't matter.
Throughout the journey, there had been no proper place to rest, and I felt like I had been up for two days straight. I didn't have a smartphone or a watch, so I couldn't tell the actual time.
I finished the remaining convenience store bento and fell into a deep sleep on the tatami mat.
******************************
The next day, after waking up, I first checked my status.
【Status】
Name: Hikari Amikawa
Title: Number 1
Skills: Passive - Super Dynamic Vision Lv.max, Early Maturity Lv.max
Active - Otherworldly Appraisal Lv.3, Item Box Lv.max
Magic: Water Magic Lv.7
Equipment: None
From the first floor boss battle, only the Otherworldly Appraisal skill had increased to Lv.3, and Water Magic to Lv.7.
The Otherworldly Appraisal skill, which previously only revealed the race, level, and skills of monsters, could now also identify their magic.
Water Magic had gained two new spells: Rain and Water Healing.
The Rain spell created a wide area of rain, which hindered movement but with reduced power. However, I only used it to wash my body, as it could produce warm water.
The Water Healing spell healed injuries when used on a wounded area. I tested it on a near-dead monster, and it fully recovered, indicating a high healing power.
Incidentally, I had a title called "Number 1," but I had no idea what it meant, so I left it alone.
I rubbed my heavy eyelids, washed my body with Rain, and then prepared for the day's biggest challenge.
That challenge was to verify whether goblin meat was edible. My food supply had run out, so I had no choice but to try it.
I borrowed the kitchen and started to cook the goblin meat.
The kitchen was fully equipped with a gas stove, frying pan, pot, and plates. It was a mysterious and well-equipped place. To light the gas stove, I used the same kind of magical energy I used for casting spells.
I took the goblin meat from my Item Box and started to cook it. There were no seasonings, so it was plain.
The meat sizzled and smelled like pork. To avoid any undercooked parts, I cooked it thoroughly, even if the outside was a bit charred.
I put the well-cooked meat on a plate and tried it.
Surprisingly, it was quite delicious. It tasted like the cheap pork sold at supermarkets. It was edible.
I then cooked all the goblin meat I had and stored it in the Item Box, which did not advance time.
Incidentally, the Item Box had 10 pages, each capable of storing 100 different items, with a maximum of 99 of each item. Pages 1-5 advanced time normally, while pages 6-10 allowed time to be adjusted.
With the food prepared, I was ready to challenge the sixth floor.
As I moved forward, I encountered a large white dog-like monster called a White Dog.
The appraisal results were as follows:
【Status】
Race: White Dog
Level: 11
Skills: Fog Scatter, Strong Jaw
Magic: None
The White Dog used its white body to blend into the fog and attack unexpectedly. However, I could hear its footsteps, and my dynamic vision could easily detect the unnatural movement of the fog, so it wasn't a strong opponent. However, it was mentally tiring.
Most of the drops were useless, but I found one useful item: white fur. I planned to sew it together to make a blanket.
The boss battle was also easy to win.
I thought the skill scrolls I was looking for wouldn't drop, but when I defeated the Assassin Dog on the tenth floor, it dropped a Random Skill Scroll.
【Result】
Name: Random Skill Scroll
Effect: Randomly obtain one skill from all available skills, including rarity.
The name suggests that the skill scroll I obtained on the first floor allowed me to choose a skill, but this one was completely random.
I immediately used the Random Skill Scroll.
<You have obtained the Active Skill "Phantom Dodge." Rarity: 5, Platinum Skill. Congratulations.>
【Skill】
Name: Phantom Dodge
Rarity: 5 (Platinum Skill)
Status: Active
Effect: When dodging, show a phantom to the enemy, increasing the success rate of dodging. Provides a significant boost to dodging speed.
Wow, another great skill.
After using it a few times, I noticed that the enemy would lose sight of me after I dodged, making it easier to launch surprise attacks. Moreover, the boost to dodging speed made me move about twice as fast. This skill was highly useful. However, it felt more like a passive skill since it activated automatically when I dodged.
But I still don't understand the rarity system. I'd like to start getting excited about the rarity of skills, especially since this is a dungeon.
Just as I was thinking about this, I found another resting room door when I descended to the eleventh floor.
Inside, there was no kitchen, but there was a book.
I didn't need a kitchen since I had one from the sixth floor resting room.
The book was intriguing, but I had just rushed through floors 6 to 10 and was too exhausted to move.
Good night.
******************************
Good morning!
I immediately opened the book I found yesterday. However, it was written in ancient script that I couldn't understand.
But there was a red pair of glasses placed next to the book.
The appraisal results for the book and the glasses were as follows:
【Result】
Name: Iris's Diary
Description: A book recording daily events.
【Result】
Name: Language Conversion Glasses
Effect: Glasses that convert written text into a language the user can understand.
I put on the glasses, and the text in the book was converted to Japanese.
It was a thick book, and it took me a whole day to read it.
Most of the content was like an adventurer's diary. The author was a woman who wrote a lot about her boyfriend, which was boring for me as a man.
However, I did gain some useful information.
First, it seemed that the types and forms of monsters changed every five floors in any dungeon.
The resting rooms were apparently created by a skilled individual. A great person in the other world had the unique skill to create rooms inside dungeons. This person traveled through many dungeons, diving as deep as possible and creating a room every five floors.
I was extremely grateful to this great person. Thank you very much.
Regarding skills, the main way to obtain them was through skill scrolls, but there were rare cases where they could be obtained through other methods. Rarity 5 was the rarest, and Rarity 6 skills were almost mythical, with the author of the diary writing excitedly about the first time she saw one.
Finally, about magic.
There were many types of magic, including the basic elements of fire, water, earth, and wind, as well as more niche magic. The basic elements had higher-level forms such as blue flame, ice, life, and storm, and there were also light and dark magic, which were very rare and more powerful than common magic.
In summary, I learned a bit more about dungeons, skills, and magic, making it a productive day. However, I wish the author had spared me the love stories.
