Chapter 46

After leaving the branch, we turned left and walked, parting ways with Adelle and Leonora at the town hall. Then, Erika and I walked towards the military outpost.
"You seem pretty happy."
Erika always has a smile on her face, but today she seems even more cheerful.
"It's because Adelle came. Now the diagonal is covered. There are no blind spots anymore."
Before I came, Leonora was on a business trip, so she must be happy to have company now.
"That's good."
"Yes! Also, Adelle seems like a good person. I talked to her yesterday and thought she seemed considerate and kind. This morning, she even came earlier than me and changed the water for the flowers."
Wow... that's impressive.
I didn't even remember there were flowers.
"Well, when Helen and I first met, I thought she was an angel."
"That's good to hear. I hope you can get along well."
"How about you, Sieg? Have you resolved your issues?"
As expected, that question was for me.
"Actually, I talked to Adelle yesterday. It's all good now. I was always wondering why she came, but when I heard the reason, it made sense. I'm glad it wasn't for revenge."
"You really thought that... I'm sorry, but I don't think everyone is that idle. If you think about the pros and cons, it's too much of a disadvantage."
You're right.
But, that's what August did.
"Anyway, I'm a bit lacking confidence in what I've done. Changing the subject, have you ever been to the Side Hotel's rooftop restaurant, Erika?"
"Yeah, I have. I went for lunch with my family. The view is great."
Lunch, huh...
"What about dinner?"
"I haven't been for dinner. It's expensive and a bit of a high bar."
High bar...
"Is there a dress code?"
"No, it's not that strict. It's just not a place for families."
I think lunch would be nice...
But, I was asked to go for dinner.
"I see..."
Hmm, what should I do?
I'm not the type to go to new places, and it's a hassle to look for other options. I've been to the Side Hotel before, so I feel like I can manage.
"Are you going for dinner?"
"It's a social obligation that became reality... I have to take Adelle to dinner."
"Oh, I heard Helen talking about it. As someone from this town, I think you two should see the night view from there. It's very popular. I haven't been, though..."
I've heard that locals don't often visit tourist spots.
"If you pass the 9th grade exam, I'll take you."
That's the least I can do.
I don't have much else to spend money on.
"Really? I want to go."
Should I take Leonora too?
It's not good to make her feel left out.
"Leonora too... What?"
Helen gave me a light punch.
"I think you should take them one by one."
"Why? Wouldn't it be better to do it all at once?"
"If you go with both of them, Adelle will be left out."
"Ah, I see... Wait."
If only Erika passes and the other two don't, it could be awkward.
I've never failed an exam, so I didn't think about that.
Being too smart can be a problem.
"Sorry, I'll take them one by one. Erika, let's go together."
"Yay... I'll study hard!"
Good luck.
As we were talking and walking, we arrived at the military outpost.
"Since the captain is not here, I'll leave it to Erika."
"Understood."
With Erika leading the way, we entered the outpost and found Lutz at the reception.
"Lutz-kun!"
"Hey, Erika. Good morning, Sieg."
Lutz greeted us with a refreshing smile.
Is that the Rintner family's blood?
"Good morning."
"Hey."
"Both of you? I heard a new person joined."
Hmm? Adelle?
"Yeah, but how did you know?"
"There were rumors. She's supposed to be very beautiful."
Wow...
"Yeah, she's very beautiful. She was at the capital's headquarters."
Don't raise the bar too high...
"Isn't it surprising that someone like that came?"
"Sieg recruited her. They're friends from magic school."
That's not entirely true.
We became friends recently.
"Wow... Anyway, it's good that the team is growing."
"Really. Oh, about the request?"
"Ah, right... Before that, Sieg, thank you for the fire the other day. Thanks to you, the damage was minimized."
Oh, that.
I forgot about it.
"Did my reputation improve?"
"Of course, it did. You're a town hero."
Really...
"Anyway, did you find the cause?"
"It's still under investigation. We're busy too."
"That's tough."
"Yeah. But, it's our job. Anyway, about the request. We need 100 recovery ointments."
Recovery ointments...
Can we do it?
"What's a recovery ointment?"
Erika asked.
"It's an ointment for minor injuries. It's not as effective as a potion, but it's cheaper for small wounds. It's easier to carry and use. You know, potions are in bottles and can break if you drop them."
"I see."
Erika nodded.
"Soldiers are required to carry it. It's important not to leave minor injuries untreated when you're outside."
Lutz added.
"Wow... Sieg, can you do it?"
"Technically, it's not a big deal. It's similar to making potions. But, we need magic herbs. Are they available in the market?"
Last time, we had to go outside the town to collect magic herbs because they were out of stock.
"Maybe not. Should we go to the forest again?"
"Seems so..."
Hmm, that's a hassle.
"Don't worry, we'll provide the magic herbs."
Huh?
"Really?"
"You three went to the forest last time, right? The guards at the gate reported that it was a very worrying scene."
Ah, Leonora.
Erika and I were probably included...
"What do you have to say to a 5th-grade magician?"
"You didn't have combat experience, right?"
You're right...
"Anyway, we'll provide the herbs. How about it? Can you do it?"
"Sure, but can you give us a moment? We have another request from the town hall at the same time. Leonora and Adelle are hearing the details now."
"I see. Just let us know after you hear from them. We're not in a rush. The deadline is a month. The fee is 300,000 El."
The deadline is plenty of time.
The fee is reasonable.
"Got it. We'll discuss it at the branch and call you."
"Understood."
Lutz nodded.
"Let's go, Erika."
"Okay. See you, Lutz."
"Sure."
We left the outpost and decided to return to the branch.
