Chapter 7

5 min read1,192 words

Leaving Erika's room, we walked towards the Side Hotel, which Erika had told us the location of.

"I think it's a good thing we met Erika."

Suddenly, the words came out.

"What's with the sudden change? Did you fall for her?"

"No. It was a good opportunity to reflect on my past actions."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Erika was kind and well-behaved throughout, right? While listening to her words, I thought about how I would have responded and how I would have felt if I had heard those responses."

It's about putting yourself in someone else's shoes.

"How was it?"

"I realized that I would have said things that would only make me feel bad. It makes me think that Adel, who came to see me off after being with me for three years... no, six years, must be an angel or something."

"Maybe she really is?"

That's probably true.

"August put pressure on everyone in every possible way... Even though he knew it would damage his own reputation, he still did it. He must have hated me that much. I understand that now."

"Lord Sieg..."

Then, I came to a conclusion. I think it's better if I don't talk much.

That way, no one gets hurt. I'll just focus on my work and keep quiet.

"Lord Sieg, you're wrong... That's called ignoring. Remember why Adel disliked you?"

Ignoring greetings, looking down on others, forgetting yourself...

Oh, no.

Ignoring is part of it.

"Let's work on it little by little..."

"I think that's a good idea. If I notice anything wrong, I'll point it out immediately."

"Thanks."

While walking, I thought about how reliable my familiar is, and then I saw a five-story hotel with "Side Hotel" written on it.

"Doesn't it look expensive?"

It doesn't look like a regular hotel at all.

It's a luxury hotel.

"Come to think of it, Adel is a noble, right?"

That's right.

She said she stayed here to visit a friend, but a noble wouldn't stay at a cheap hotel.

"What should we do?"

It looks expensive...

"Since Adel gave us a discount voucher, we should go. Even if it's a bit expensive, it's just one night. I was a high earner, so I have money. Let's indulge ourselves on the first day in our new place."

"I think that's a good idea. Let's go."

"Alright!"

With renewed determination, we approached the hotel. An old gentleman in a tuxedo at the entrance noticed us and bowed.

"Are you Siegfried Alexander?"

Huh?

"Ah, yes."

"Excuse me, do you have the discount voucher?"

"Is this it?"

I handed over the discount voucher Adel gave me, and the old gentleman examined it closely.

"Indeed... Welcome. We received a call from Adele of the Yodel family, saying that a friend would be coming."

Adel...

Not only did she give us a discount voucher, but she even called...

"I see... I guess it's me."

"Welcome. Please, this way."

The old gentleman led us into the hotel. The entrance was filled with glass, letting in plenty of sunlight, making it feel very pleasant. The interior was also beautiful and definitely not cheap.

We were led to the reception desk.

"This is a guest introduced by Adele."

The old gentleman spoke to the woman at the reception and handed her the discount voucher.

"Understood... Welcome, Mr. Alexander. I'll show you to your room."

The woman smiled professionally and stood up.

"Huh? What about the payment?"

Shouldn't we pay first?

"No, the payment is taken care of."

Not just a discount voucher, but a free voucher?

Or maybe it's thanks to Adel's influence...

"I see. Then, thank you."

"Yes, please follow me."

We were led by the receptionist up the stairs. When we reached the top floor, the fifth floor, we were shown to the room at the very end.

"Wow! This is amazing!"

Helen exclaimed in amazement. No wonder, the room was spacious and luxurious. The bed was king-sized, and it was clearly a suite. From the window, you could see the town and the sea, offering a fantastic view.

"Is this area a tourist spot?"

I asked the receptionist who showed us in.

"Yes. There's the sea and the forest, so it's very scenic. It's often used."

It's a vacation spot for nobles...

"I see..."

"What about dinner? We have a restaurant on the first floor, and you can also eat on the rooftop."

"Can't we eat here?"

"Of course, we can bring it to your room."

In that case, here is fine. The view from the rooftop might be good, but this is sufficient.

"Thank you."

"Understood. Please, take your time..."

The receptionist smiled, bowed, and left the room.

"Meow!"

When it was just Helen and me, she jumped onto the bed and rolled around, looking incredibly cute.

"Spending time with a woman in a place like this might be a man's dream, but having you here is enough for me."

I said, sitting on the bed and petting Helen.

"Huh? Am I in the way? Was I the main reason why the high-earning, elite Sieg never had a girlfriend?"

"That's not true. You're just very cute."

With my career cut short, the only path left for me is to spend time with this girl.

"Me being the main reason... Ah, Sieg, let's write a letter to Adel."

"That's a good idea. Since she's done so much for us, it's best to write a letter of apology and thanks early."

I stood up and went to the table, taking out paper and a pen.

"First, the apology."

"Don't make excuses. Be sincere and apologize properly."

"I understand. She is a noble, after all."

She's scary.

"No ulterior motives. Just apologize properly to a classmate."

"Understood."

Following Helen's instructions, I wrote the apology letter. Since I've never written an apology letter before, it took some time.

"Next, the thanks. That should be easy, right?"

"Sure."

I wrote about the hotel's wonderful amenities and how it was a great luxury on my first day in the new place.

"Next, let's write about the future."

"The future?"

"Something like, 'If you ever come to the capital, let's have dinner.'"

Why?

"An apology?"

"No, she's a friend, right?"

Ah...

"I see. It's a social courtesy."

I won't actually go, but it's a social skill to maintain good relationships.

"Poor monster..."

"No, realistically, I won't be able to return to the capital."

Unfortunately.

"Still, it's fine. Let's just write it."

Following Helen's advice, I wrote the social courtesy.

"That's it. I'll give it to the hotel reception to send."

"That's a good idea."

We left the room, went down the stairs, and headed to the reception. After entrusting the letter, we returned to the room and spent some quiet time together.

Dinner was also luxurious, and it tasted even better while enjoying the view and Helen's excitement.

Yeah, as long as I have Helen, everything is fine.
