Five years later, the Terran Empire was invaded by a merchant business group.

The merchant group, which was symbolized by a black rose pattern, appeared on the continent like a comet one day. They led the cutting edge fashion, and everyone coveted whatever they planned or created.

The merchant group absorbed the smaller merchants, merged with the collapsing giant merchants and grew in size.

Now they were big enough to build a country solely on financial power.

Just merchants.

Even the nobles and the royal families who had been doubting them with suspicious eyes couldn’t believe it.

The wealth of the merchant community overflowed without knowing any end. Naturally, those in power trued to subdue the community on their own, and there had been some who had almost succeeded.

But the winner was always Rose, the hidden power of Kaos.

<kbd>T/n: The merchant group is like a wealthy business company (in modern terms?) but it's medieval era, so it's a merchant group. The name of the group is 'Kaos' and is owned by Rose. I'll be calling it the 'Kaos sect'.</kbd>

In part.

Rose then had a dream. Nevertheless, this dream made her feel her distant despair.

In this dream, the Emperor of Arga appeared from the dark as if he had recognised her heart.

His flamboyant blonde hair and blue eyes hidden underneath were staring at Rosé with a deep, sombre desire.

[ Lucentia, you’re really alive. ]

He laughed as if he was seeing something very interesting.

However, Rose could see the rage seething inside the emperor.

The fact that Arga’s reputation had fallen to the ground due to being deceived by Rose seemed more unbearable to him.

[ It’s a ….. dream. ]

Even if she forced herself to squeeze her courage, Rose, who had been ravaged for a long time, could not move as if she had become a frog in front of a snake.

She was afraid and scared.

She felt terribly helpless and couldn’t even think about it.

She then heard footsteps.

The emperor was approaching her, but Rose couldn’t move.

At last, he ordered her with distorted eyes, as if he was looking at filth.

[ Just die. As you should have. ]

The emperor quickly turned into a giant snake and swallowed her.

“Ah!”

Awakened from her dream due to the fright, her face was covered with cold sweat.

The hand clasping the blanket was trembling. The ivory coloured face was stained with sweat and pain, exhaling as if she was about to break.

When the sound of her breathing subsided gradually, Rose’s anger and fear began to fade.

“Thankfully… it was only a dream.”

When she had seen Heen turn into a snake, she burst into ridicule at her relieved appearance.

But it wasn’t something to worry about.

A few years ago, Rose began to suffer from nightmares where she would constantly be chased by Heen.

No matter how hard she fled, the emperor always managed to find Rose and devour her everything.

Her life.

The merchant group she was working for.

Even the people who supported her. He swallowed everything.

Rose spit out words of despair as she gripped on her sweat soaked clothes.

“F**k.”

Rose grabbed her throbbing head.

“These fu**ing premonitions.”

Unfortunately, the real beginning of these premonitions had started when the emperor had come to visit her father.

<kbd>T/n: Rose sees premonitions or precognitive dreams- these are dreams that can predict the future or show a glimpse of the future.</kbd>

Her childhood memories were blurry, so she couldn’t remember them well but at first the dreams had seemed fun and mysterious.

Whenever the things she saw in her dreams came true, she found it as entertaining as a toy rolling in her hand.

Then she became increasingly aware.

That this foresight was dangerous.

As if to support her premonitions, Rose was chosen by the prince, and saw a future where she lived as a pawn for her father and soon, her neck was cut off, leading to her eventual demise.

People’s lives were so fleeting, that even at a young age, they couldn’t endure injustice and resentment.

However, no matter what choices she made, Rose’s future did not change. The scene of the guillotine and her decapitation constantly circled in her mind.

So she changed her mind altogether.

If it was a future that must come true, then she had to prepare herself to survive after her supposed fake death.

And finally came the day of her fate and spies from the Kaos who were hiding, shook her carriage, causing her confusion.

The life threatening moment when she ran away by taking advantage of the crown and hid in a basket dizzyingly followed her, but she managed to overcome it.

After such freedom, she lived her life knowing that she was happy for the first time in her life. However, Rose’s precognitive dreams brought her worst fears in front of her again.

That’s when she found out. That if there’s a god in charge of this world, then they really are something.

Rose’s eyes were filled with rage, as she grasped her trembling hand in the dark.

To be trampled on was a betrayal of her life that she had used as her motivation to build up.

“I’ve been fighting to death. The fight that I won once, can’t I do it again?”

Rose got out of bed.

Well, it wasn’t unexpected.

Rose had splashed dirt on the Arga Empire’s honour.

Was that all? She moved the base of the Kaos Sect to Terran, a country that she despised.

The moment the Emperor of Arga would find out about it himself, there’s no doubt that he would cut her neck first.

“But you can’t die, can you?”

Rose was no longer a weak empress, nor was she a wretched empress.

She was at the top who ruled the Kaos Sect, a powerful community in this world who held the continent’s gold coins in the palm of her hand.

Rose stood by the window and bit her lips.

“I’ve reached too far to run away now. If I can’t avoid it anymore, then I’ll have to destroy it.”

Despite her premonitions, she couldn’t destroy Arga as it was now, but there was only one way left.

Rose, who had established her place in Terran just in case, remembered a person she had to meet soon.

He will be on his way out from here.

She looked tired and weary, but her eyes were shining vividly in the dark.

Wasn’t it one hell of a perfect timing?

A laughter that was cold enough to convince a bystander’s heart echoed.

If what this crazy precognitive dream was talking about was the ill relationship between her and the Emperor of Arga. Unless it’s a problem that can barely be avoided.

Was there a way?

She had to fight.

Even if she had to bet everything she had.

The old, white-haired Duke of Aytan, Klaus, faced an unexpected person.

It was none other than the person behind the Kaos Sect, who had shown up to solve his long standing troubles.

It wasn’t really surprising so far.

But it was someone other than Grey, the grey-haired member of the sect.

It was a woman who looked to be only about twenty five years old. Proving it wasn’t a lie, Grey stood behind her like a guardian.

The duke squinted his black eyes and looked at the man who seemed reasonable for all of his designs and equipment.

“Did you say Rose?”

“Yes, your grace, the duke.”

“She’s a lady from the family of a fallen baron.”

The woman with dark, black hair with ivory skin remained consistently calm.

Her beauty drew his attention, but Duke Klaus wasn’t an easy man who would easily be tempted by her.

“Can you solve the problem of my estate? Quite a few sects have already given up. It’s the north where they have to fight the severe cold for more than half a year. I’ve already been disappointed countless times and I don’t want that anymore.”

“I’ve never said that I can do what I can’t do. However, I would like to ask you something first.”

“Say it.”

“I’ve heard that if I can solve the problem of the duke’s estate, you will grant me any conditions under your name.”

The woman was pretty wild.

But Duke Klaus nodded his head without any hesitation.

“That’s what I said.”

“I don’t know about anyone else, but the Duke of Aytan can trust me with his promise.”

After taking a brief glance at Rose, the duke smirked and ordered his butler to bring the contract.

The old butler, who was standing upright as if waiting for his command, held out a piece of paper in front of Rose. There was a brief description about the contract between the Kaos sect and the Duke of Aytan.

If she managed to solve the problem of the extreme cold in the northern territories, the Duke of Aytan would only then satisfy the conditions of the Kaos sect.

“If you fail to offer me these conditions, I will not let you go in the name of Aytan. You’d better do it right.”

“I won’t let you down.”

When he saw her smiling, the duke was incited with curiosity. He had served three generations of the emperor. He was the only one who had survived numerous political attacks so far.

Even if Terran was destroyed, he had no doubt that the Aytan family would never fall down.

However, this young woman in front of his eyes aroused a strange impression in the iron-blooded Duke.

The ability to create the Kaos sect.

The audacity to face the duke and not budge a single eye. Above all, she did not hesitate to challenge and achieve what he wanted when many others had failed.

“It’s too bad you’re a woman.”

“Not too bad.”

Rose, who had just finished signing the contract, looked up at the duke.

Klaus was strangely unable to take his gaze off her at her sharp but unbroken retort.

“Excuse me.”

She bowed her head quietly. They later concluded the contract without saying much.

The duke looked at her as she left and feeling strangely uncomfortable, returned back to his study.

The butler, who was left standing alone, approached the window and muttered as he looked at the disappearing carriage.

“We’ll see what happens.”

Soon after, the Kaos sect visited Aytan.

They reorganised the estate and carried out massive reconstruction to fulfill their promise with the Duke of Aytan in an unbelievable way.

Even the civilians of the Aytan estate, who would usually turn a blind eye to the temporary visitors, began to show curiosity at their outspoken appearance.

The old man looked at the people who had no qualms about destroying the old buildings and making new ones.

Then he found something strange.

“Hey, look at this.”

The young officer from the Kaos sect turned towards the old man.

“What’s the matter?”

“Hmm.”

Surprised by his unexpected polite attitude, the old man asked carefully.

“There you go. Why are you connecting the furnace and the wide area over there? It seems to look like a room just by looking at it. If you put it there, what about the smoke and other things? Did you perhaps make a mistake?”

“No.”

The person in charge smiled with a prideful expression.

“If you install that, the winters won’t be so cold anymore.”

“Damn. Don’t lie. I’ve spent my entire life in Aytan. I haven’t seen anyone who was able to fix this. But you’re saying that it will work with just that?”

“It’s possible.”

The old man still seemed to be in doubt.

The officer smiled, looking at the blueprints that the owner of Kaos had given to him.

“If she said yes, then it will be a yes.”

He looked at the workers who were setting up the racks and assured them that it was possible.

After completing the construction for over a year, the Kaos sect managed to fulfill the promise they had made with the Duke of Aytan.

Everything was going as Rose had intended.

Grey awarded generous rewards to the people who had travelled all the way to Terran to report.

Then he headed straight to the study of the outbuilding where Rose was staying. The grey haired middle aged man knocked on the black door with a joyful smile.

“Come in.”

“Miss Rose. A man from Aytan is here.”

As Grey stepped inside, Rose, who was standing by the sunlit window, turned around.

Grey said what Rose wanted.

“All the promises have been fulfilled.”

“Well, now it’s time to get what I want.”

Rose smiled as she looked at the new contract with a promise from the duke.

The Duke of Aytan, the beau idéal of every knight on the continent, was a very special man.

<kbd>T/n: A more literal translation would be 'the romance of every knight on the continent'. But the 'romance' here isn't related to love. The word used refers to something that is more like something 'ideal' and not easily achievable but desirable.</kbd>

He could captivate anyone just by revealing himself. He was a swordmaster who practically owned the very essence of a sword.

Rose smiled with satisfaction.

She only wanted one thing.

‘Finally, Duke Aytan.’

It was the duke himself.

Translator’s Corner

For anyone confused, this isn’t the duke in the summary (and not the ML).

Also, Rose’s name is actually ‘ Rosé ‘ and is pronounced as ‘Rosay’ and rhymes with ‘delay’.
