“Huh, Rose. I’ve never seen you that way but…. are you really a voyeur?”

He had always been her side, but today Rose really wanted to hit Casa. Opening her bewitching eyes halfway, Rose glanced at him and sighed.

“A voyeur? Just what did he mean by that? But it’s okay. Women can do that too. It’s not common, but it’s possible. If it’s you, I’ll give you credit.”

He looked like he was really having fun with this.

Rose felt anxious to grasp his weakness and punch him in the face. She bit her teeth and growled.

“Casa, I’m sure I had said it’s not like that.”

“No, you say? Then why are you giving me such a guilty look?”

“No! No!”

Rose had always appeared as a charismatic boss in front of Grey and the rest of the Kaos members, but in front of Casa, she would behave differently.

Maybe because she had met him first as the daughter of a count’s family?

Since they had known each other since childhood, they had never had any disturbances in their relationship.

“I’ve never met him before.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“No. That can’t be. Just looking at the Duke, the atmosphere between you two seemed to be weird. And you… told that man that he was a scoundrel. That- ahh!”

Rose’s eyes turned cold as she watched Casa continue to tease her with a smile

“On that subject, the Duke seemed like he was possessed or something.”

Casa responded without any shame.

“I’m a mercenary, and he’s a swordmaster, right? It’s hard to believe that. Don’t tell me, am I supposed to die?”

“You’re shameless.”

“Anyway, you’ll probably have a hard time at the Kaos Sect meeting this time.”

Casa said, turning towards Grey, who had been silent the entire time since the deal was signed.

When Rose turned around, the man seemed to be filled with anxiety.

“Say it.”

“….I… I’ll always believe in Miss Rose.”

“You’re worried, aren’t you?”

“The Duke…. the Aytan family is very suspicious. Nothing is known about the men in the family. Above all, the women who married them did not live in peace. To be honest, the former Duke was old and indifferent to women but the Duke that I saw today…”

Grey had never worried about such things before, so Rose was speechless. It seemed that Grey’s concerns went deeper.

“Appearances don’t really matter. We’re using each other anyway. Above all else, a woman does not like a man who is more beautiful than herself. You’re comparing too much. It hurts my pride.”

“…Is that so?”

Rose’s face freshened up as if she had let go of her worries. He had never seen her look this peaceful in a while.

Unable to say anything more, Grey nodded.

“You look comfortable.”

“Because I am. At least for the time being, I don’t need to be unnecessarily nervous.”

“….What about the Kaos sect?”

Rose got on the carriage and leaned on the seat.

The seat was fluffy but not comfortable enough for long journeys. After a heavy sigh, Rose looked at the disappointed Grey.

“My enemy is the Emperor.”

With those words, a heavy silence fell in the carriage.

“We are a sect that takes the country as its enemy. At any rate, let’s say we wring out all of our strength to defeat the Arga Empire. But will the other countries let us sit still? Do you think they’ll still treat us as a merchant business group?”

Grey said nothing.

Rose’s voice was soft, but the words coming out of her lips were cruel and cold.

“A merchant group is only responsible for trade. Even if you can buy a country, a merchant sect that destroys a country is no longer a group of merchants. It’s at that moment that the countries will be hostile towards us. Because even if the Kaos Sect stands still, the world will not believe us.”

These stories had already been narrated several times.

But Grey would blindly follow Rose’s words. In fact, most people in the Kaos Sect were that way, because they owed their lives to her.

Sometimes, this fact terrified Rose.

She didn’t want Kaos to disappear. She just wanted everyone to be faithful to their lives.

It was inevitable that they had to take risks, but at least, they wouldn’t be jumping into the fire alone.

Grey remained silent. Rose waved the contract as if to appease him.

“But for the time being, you don’t have to worry. You saved the swordmaster, didn’t you? The deal was rather unpredictable, albeit not a bad one.”

“But I didn’t expect the Duke to agree so easily.”

“He was probably bored.”

“Pardon?”

Grey looked like he couldn’t understand. The same was true of Casa.

The Duke reminded her of the man she had been seeing in her dreams. A man who seemed to be indifferent to everything.

Like someone who had no purpose or goal, as if existing in this world was against his will.

The feeling that nothing mattered.

The duke she had seen today wasn’t much different from back then. There wasn’t even an inch of gap.

He still looked disinterested and free-spirited, but dangerous.

“…..No matter what you think, he’s not an easy opponent.”

“Do you think this is okay?”

“Are there any other alternatives?”

Grey couldn’t answer. Rose’s question stirred up many calculations and situations in his mind, but the conclusion would always be ‘Duke of Aytan’.

This family was the optimal alternative. Moreover, the Terran Empire has long been an empire of Arga.

There was only one occasion for the Emperor to come to this country.

War.

And for reasons unknown, Rose didn’t think the Duke of Aytan could ruin this deal.

According to the information she had obtained, it is said that he had wiped out all the spies that she had placed in his estate.

However, he was also aware of the fact that the noble landlords were apprehensive.

Perhaps the Duke was waiting for a cause.

If they stand up, they’ll die, but if they lay low like before, they’ll live.

He was already a swordmaster.

Can the landlords forget that they are human beings who have reached the peak of resilience and force that will heal quickly no matter what kind of wound they get?

Rose had no doubts about the abilities of the Duke of Aytan, even if she doubted anyone else.

Looking out of the window, she spoke to Grey again.

“All those in the Kaos Sect are under my protection. But if I hurt them, how will I face their families? Grey, the best attack is to give them no reason to attack. No matter how great Kaos is, it’s only a gold mine in the eyes of the emperor. Or maybe, mouthwateringly appetising?”

The emperor will not be satisfied with only Arga.

To put it bluntly, he is ambitious. Someone who is crazy for power and doesn’t care about who needs to die in order for him to fulfill his ambition.

“The Duke is a one-man weapon. If, when the inevitable moment comes, and he tries to kill the emperor on his own, who in the world can stop him?”

“No way….”

Grey had even thought of that, but Rose didn’t respond.

The future was unpredictable. Even Rose, who could see precognitive dreams, couldn’t fight the future.

Except for just receiving a little bit of information, she would be helpless with time being ahead of her.

That’s why she was trying her best.

Because there’s nothing else she can do except that.

“I’ve only just taken this risk. Even if I lose a little honour, who would dare ridicule the woman of Aytan?”

“Oh my.”

Casa squinted his eyes and looked at Rose.

“Aren’t you too clever?”

“To a merchant, that’s a compliment.”

Grey nodded at Rose’s words, but didn’t look too happy.

Perhaps the Duke’s intentions still seemed strange.

Even from Rose’s perspective, this contract didn’t have much merit for the duke. And yet, he had agreed with her.

Neither did he have any intention of coveting the Kaos Sect’s wealth.

What a mysterious man.

Feeling exhausted, Rose tried to remember the last words he had said in front of her.

[ Are you a voyeur? ]

The back of her neck burned slightly. Actually, when she had heard him say that, her heart had almost dropped.

As she recalled the gaze that had looked at her in her dream, she had an unbelievable thought.

Could a swordmaster control her dreams? If not, it could get worse.

What if these precognitive dreams aren’t just moments from the future, but actually being present in the future?

Rose had become increasingly anxious because of her unpredictable ability.

The fact that she knew the problem but couldn’t do anything about it enraged her more. Then she remembered the Duke, and his naked backside.

She could feel his gaze on her as her cheeks became wrapped in uncontrollable heat.

Casa and Grey were looking at her significantly.

“What’s wrong?”

“Rose, be honest.”

Casa’s playful face moved close to her face. His red eyes and hair matched the frivolous expression of a young man very well.

“You. You’re in love with the Duke, aren’t you?”

“No.”

“No? You just blushed. Weren’t you thinking of the Duke?”

“Shut up.”

Case grinned, but Grey looked askance.

“Grey, no.”

His grey eyes smiled knowingly, however, he didn’t seem to believe her.

‘He’s handsome, that’s all.’

She admired his looks, but that wasn’t a reason to fall in love.

And a love affair with the Duke?

‘Why me?’

For someone who valued love as the most important thing in life, it may be true. But for a person like Rose, such things held no importance.

To her, a free life where she could do anything and be anything was worth much more.

Smiling, Rose opened her mouth while still keeping her gaze on the window indifferently.

“Grey.”

“Yes. Please tell me.”

“The Duke could find out my real identity.”

The air inside the carriage suddenly turned tense.

“If that’s the case, there’s no need to hide it. Tell this to the intelligence team too.”

“But-!”

However, the pale faced Grey tried to oppose her words, but Rose raised her hand and stopped him.

“There are no eternal secrets in this world.”

“But this is a secret that concerns Miss Rose’s life. The Duke is a man from Terran. If he finds out who Miss Rose is, he will try to use you. How can you just let that be?”

“Let that be? I’ve never done that before.”

Rose looked away from the window and continued to speak.

Above all, Kaos, that had started though personal connections and money, barely got any information.

In such a case, honesty was rather confusing.

“What will he think when my information leaks and reaches the Duke? The empress, who escaped Arga, made him her guardian. It’s also a make-believe romantic relationship. Whether it is fake or real, when the real facts are revealed, will the world be curious?”

Grey looked at Rose with a blank face.
