Chapter 48

After lying in bed for a day, I recovered. Using recovery magic really takes away the fatigue; it’s so convenient. Kiri’s worried face. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of my health!

I’ve promised Grandpa Sand to eat three meals a day and to get some exercise, even if it’s just a walk. He also told me to eat snacks. I need to have supplementary meals... it’s like being with a toddler.

After breakfast, I went for a light walk and then started doing embroidery. When I was asked if I wanted to study manners and history, I agreed right away. I have to meet princes from other countries, so I need to study, even if it’s just a crash course. Embroidery is part of a lady’s education, apparently. In my previous life, I was all about being a soloist, but I dabbled in various hobbies. I’m especially good at handicrafts. Lions from the Mariya Kingdom’s coat of arms are a breeze.

While chatting with the maids and doing embroidery, I found out that the head maid’s second grandchild was born yesterday. Her daughter gave birth. That’s why she wasn’t around yesterday.

Head Maid Maria looks like a beautiful enchantress in her 20s, and her personality is as bold as my mother from my previous life, Yoneko. I call her “Mom” in my heart. The way she scolds the king and Jin is exactly like how my mother used to scold my father. It’s comforting.

But to think the head maid has grandchildren. In this world, people get married at 15 or 16. If their children also get married and have kids at 15 or 16, it’s no wonder she became a grandmother so young. In my previous life, my mother didn’t even have a boyfriend, let alone a grandchild, at 57. Sorry, Mom.

The head maid’s new grandchild is a boy, and her older grandchild is a 3-year-old girl. The family of her daughter is overjoyed with the birth of the long-awaited heir.

I must celebrate this. After finishing my embroidery, I asked Kiri to gather the materials.

“Shina-sama, is this really okay?”

Kiri, who looked puzzled, had gathered wood and various fabrics. I asked for the wood to be plain and the fabrics to be as soft as possible.

“Yeah, this is exactly what I wanted! You’re the best, Kiri!”

Kiri blushed at my delight. My kid is so talented!

With the patterns I had prepared while Kiri was gathering materials, I started cutting the fabric. First, the baby clothes. Since they’re for a tiny baby, the seams should be on the outside, and the material should be soft. Hmm, there are no snap buttons, so I’ll have to use strings. Oh well.

I used to make baby clothes for friends and relatives when their children were born. Unfortunately, I never made any for myself, hehe.

I also made a bear, cat, and panda onesie that the baby can wear outside. I wonder if these animals exist in this world? Well, I can just say they’re imaginary animals.

You might be wondering how I can make things so quickly. As you might have guessed, I used magic. A delicate reinforcement spell makes the needle move incredibly fast. It’s like my hands turned into a sewing machine.

Kiri was surprised but soon helped by attaching strings to the baby clothes. My kid is also good at sewing. How about being a bride? (I’m not going to marry her, though.)

Now, let’s make some toys. A nostalgic pushcart. It’s a simple wooden box with wooden wheels and a handle. Inside the box, I put round, square, and animal-shaped blocks. I made sure the corners were rounded. Using wind magic to cut and shape the wood is fun. Then, I made a cloth rattle and a wooden jack-in-the-box. These are nostalgic toys, but I hope small children will enjoy them.

Next, I’ll make some toys for the girl. These are for the 3-year-old sister.

When a friend from my previous life had a second child, the older child had a regression. So, when there’s an older sibling, I always give them a “congratulations on becoming a big brother or sister” gift along with the baby’s gift.

If a younger sibling suddenly appears, the parents and other family members’ attention and gifts will be focused on the baby, which can make the older child feel neglected and insecure. When the mother is exhausted from taking care of a newborn and the older child regresses, it can lead to a lack of patience and harsh treatment. It’s a vicious cycle.

A new life means a new big brother or sister is also born. It’s okay to celebrate that too.

For the girl, I’ll make a doll set. I’ll make a princess doll and a dress for the doll. I’ll also make a matching dress for the 3-year-old. Ah, a matching set. So cute. Pure cuteness. I want to make more, but I can’t think of more dress patterns.

“Shina-sama, why don’t you ask the maids for help?”

I agreed with Kiri’s suggestion. The maids have good taste.

When the maids saw me spreading out fabric and wood in my room, they were very surprised. But when they saw the wooden pushcart and doll set...

“Squeal! So cute! What is this? So cute!”

“A matching dress for the doll? You want more dress patterns? Wait a minute! I’ll bring you some sample dresses right away!”

The maids gathered dresses, lace, and ribbons. After discussing and squealing together, we decided on three dresses, which the maids decorated with lace and cute buttons. They were really into it.

“This is for Head Maid’s granddaughter, Charlotte, right? She’ll be so happy!”

“I want one too! I want to be a child again!”

The maids looked so happy, which was great.

Once we had a good idea of the dresses, I started making a dollhouse set. A bed, table, and sofa set for the doll. A teapot and cups for a tea party. And, of course, a kitchen set. They’re wooden but so cute.

As I made the toys with magic, the maids kept exclaiming how cute they were. Just imagining a 3-year-old playing with these toys makes me giggle with delight!

After a gloomy mood from the recent incident, I feel like the clouds have cleared. Thank you, Head Maid’s granddaughter, for being born!

I put the gifts in a cute box, wrapped them, and added a ribbon. The gift for the older sister ended up being bigger than the baby’s, but that’s okay. I had so much fun making the girl’s dress and toys. I can’t help it.

I arranged for the gifts to be delivered to the head maid. I didn’t want to send them directly to her daughter’s home, so I used a messenger spell to inform the head maid. She was very grateful.

I reported to Prince Lute, who was visiting my room. I was told to report everything.

“Just sending gifts, right? There’s no problem.”

I got the approval from Prince Lute. Everyone in the Mariya Kingdom has become even more overprotective after the recent incident. I’m a good girl who reports everything.

The next day, I received a request for a meeting from the head maid’s daughter’s in-laws. I tilted my head in confusion, as did Prince Lute, who was visiting again.

By the way, Prince Lute’s fiancée, Saria, was also with us today. Amazingly, she brought homemade cookies as a gift! How wonderful. Homemade cookies from a beautiful woman.

Prince Lute and Saria are very close. Saria’s brother and Prince Lute are classmates, and they’ve known each other since they were little. Saria’s first love was Prince Lute, and she was very happy to become his fiancée. Prince Lute looks at her with a soft smile, which is a bit painful for a single person to see.

While enjoying the delicious cookies and watching the sweet couple, we received a visitor announcement. The head maid, an unfamiliar uncle, and a young man arrived. The meeting was with the king’s permission. The queen, who was worried, also rushed over. I’m sorry, Your Majesty. And I’m sorry for changing the queen’s schedule again, servants. The servants are already used to it.

“P-Please allow me to introduce myself, I am Tyrope.”

Tyrope, the baron, was nervous about meeting the royals. The young man with him is Joseph, the head maid’s son-in-law. He seems like a serious person.

Tyrope and Joseph brought the box of gifts I had sent to their children yesterday. What’s going on? Could it be!

“Oh, I’m so sorry! I’m not very familiar with the customs of this country! Did I send something inappropriate for a baby shower?”

Oh no! Did I send something unlucky? I’m so sorry!

As I bowed my head, Tyrope and Joseph shook their heads vigorously.

“No, no, no, no! Everything was wonderful! Please raise your head!”

When Tyrope said that, I cautiously raised my head. Huh? If they didn’t come to return the gifts, why are they here?
