Mother, I’m here!

Ye Xiudu’s lips crooked up in a cold smile. Very good, since his luck was this good then he should go take a look at what the so-called ‘Ghost Doctor’, Yu Qingluo, was doing so happily.

Wen Tian feebly handed Ye Xiudu the wooden token, carefully looking at his Lord’s expression before stopping himself from saying what he wanted to.

“What do you want to say?”

Wen Tian saw that he raised the question, so he hurried to talk: “Lord, Miss Yu shouldn’t be deliberately concealing it… don’t blame her too much…”

“Pfft… ” Shen Ying couldn’t hold his laughter, Wen Tian’s change of heart happened too fast. Hearing that Miss Yu was the Ghost Doctor that he respected since ever, he suddenly had the guts to talk back as to try reminding the Lord, not fearing his anger.

And sure enough, Ye Xiudu’s expression turned ugly. Looking at Wen Tian he gave snorted: “How come? Just when did you change a master?”

Wen Tian hurriedly straightened up his body upright in a very solemn manner: “My Lord is mistaken, what I meant was that Miss Yu’s personality is a bit hard and if one criticizes her too much, she might resent the Lord and try to get back at you using your treatment as the means.”

Ye Xiudu’s frosty gaze swept over him when Nannan, who had already finished eating and wiping his mouth, got on his feet: “Go, I’ll take you to go find your mother.”

Nannan made a surprised noise, he actually didn’t want to go, he now had eaten his fill and could play together with the Black Panther again. But seeing that Ye Xiudu’s expression wasn’t that good he obediently shut his mouth. Shrinking his neck as he left the private box with him.

Shen Ying redirected his sympathy once again towards Peng Ying. Originally, they came to see the Ghost Doctor to have Peng Ying be examined by him as well. But now that the Lord knows that that person is Miss Yu, he was restless to go and settle things with her.

He squatted near his friend, patting his shoulders. In a low voice, he advised him: “Never mind, in any case, Miss Yu is the Ghost Doctor. So, your wounds were treated by her and the poisoning was also solved by her. Going to see her or not wouldn’t make a difference now.”

Peng Ying glared at him unhappily. That didn’t bother him, there was no need to comfort him like a loser.

After Ye Xiudu left, the four remaining men in the private box looked at each other in dismay then glanced at the Da Wu, who was still passed out on the floor, thinking about whether or not they should cover their tracks.

Jin Liuli was excited when she proclaimed the holder of the token of number 3 as the next selected. She was already impatient to return to the courtyard in the rear.

The moment she came near that little wench’s attached courtyard she spotted a tall and imposing figure of an outstanding demeanour with his back facing her, standing there motionless. That mysterious Mo residence… she was finally going to be able to see the true face of Mt. Lushan! [1]

Furthermore, that little wench’s relationship with the Mo residence will finally come to light.

Jin Liuli was so excited as she went towards the courtyard that her hips even swung with each step she took forwards. Seeing that the assistant who followed her trembled in fear many times considering whether he should stretch an arm to support her if she stumbled or not. (TL: This phrase sounded a bit confusing for me to translate. But basically, she’s dance-walking like a weirdo and the poor boy following her is afraid of her stumbling down on the floor cuz’ her footsteps look unsteady).

Luckily, they soon arrived in front of Ye Xiudu and her posture returned to normal. The helper let a relieved breath, hearing the tavern’s shopkeeper use a soft and sweet intonation to ask: “Excuse me, are you the guest with the token of number three?”

“Yes.” Ye Xiudu turned his body, looking at Jin Liuli, who was wearing a veil, with an expressionless face.

Jin Liuli’s eyes brightened (TL: we all like eye-candies, hehe), she could see his imposing attitude was one that could only belong to an outstanding personage, able to cause ripples into a person’s heart. He was the kind of person that made women unable not to give a second glance.

However, the second her line of sight fell onto the little kid being held into Ye Xiudu’s bosom her expression morphed into astonishment: “Nannan?”

“Aunty Jin! I missed you so much! Long time no see. Were you concerned about Nannan? Have you perhaps even dreamed about Nannan?” the little kid flung himself over in her direction and Jin Liuli hurriedly raised her arms to catch him, softly patting his back as she asked in feigned anger: “Are you still asking? If you miss your Aunty Jin this much then why did you not come to see me in such a long time?”

Nannan’s cheeks bulged, then he let out a sigh: “I was actually busy, Aunty Jin, you know… my mother has always been quite forgetful. As the only man in her life, I am responsible for looking after her.”

Three black lines formed on Jin Liuli’s forehead, ‘This brat, if he was really able to do so then he should say the same words in front of his mother’.

Ye Xiudu gave them time to reminisce, but his eyes fixated on them, growing more and more doubtful as he heard their dialogue. It almost seemed like they had changed places and were sitting around a table and chatting over some drinks. Finally, he let out a sigh and with his face still expressionless, interrupted: “Shopkeeper Jin, I want to meet the Ghost Doctor.”

“Eh?” Jin Liuli gave him a vacant look, she suddenly noticed that her attitude was just like a person forgetting their friends after meeting a lover[2], completely throwing Ye Xiudu out of her mind.

It’s just that… she saw Nannan being held by that person from the Mo Residence. Proving to her that Yu Qingluo, that little wench, probably knew them. So, if she just goes and brings this person in, wouldn’t Yu Qingluo kill her?

But right in front of this person, it wouldn’t be the best idea to openly ask Nannan further about Yu Qingluo’s relationship with the people from the Mo residence. ‘Confusing, this was so confusing.’

“Is shopkeeper Jin troubled by this?” Ye Xiudu saw her eyes dodging his and let out a sneer as he lifted the wooden token in front of her eyes.

Jin Liuli started sweating, giving her the illusion that her forehead should be coated by droplets of sweat soon to be dripping down her face.

A dead man can no longer die. Yu Qingluo, that little wench, that’s capable of eating one alive… If she (JLL) doesn’t drag her (YQL) to hell, then who will? Forget that, she will first bring this man over then they’ll talk.

“Heh, no, there’s no problem. I’ll take you over now.” Wiping the sweat, Jin Liuli rolled Nannan over in her arms, clutching into his clothes to make sure he wouldn’t escape later.

This man, she couldn’t provoke him. It would be better to give this matter to Yu Qingluo to explain.

Nannan turned his head back and forth between the two of them, feeling at a loss. He wasn’t really understanding the situation, after all, they were only going to see his mother. So why was Aunty Jin looking like she was heading for the execution grounds instead? And Uncle Ye’s body was filled with killing intent, it seemed like he was about to find a person to settle debts with.

“Achoo…” Yu Qingluo held her arms in front of her face as she couldn’t hold her sneeze, she used her sleeves to wipe her nose. Just today she had already sneezed twice, it seems like… no, this was certainly a bad omen.

Weird, after such a long time why hasn’t the next patient come over? Wasn’t Jin Liuli’s pace too slow?

Strictly speaking, could she be intentionally coming slowly so she could make Yu Zuolin even more impatient?

This was also good, in short, today she wasn’t planning on making Yu Zuolin happy.

Knock, knock. There was a sound of Jin Liuli’s hesitating knocking on the door: “The patient arrived.”

Yu Qingluo’s brows lifted. Before that Jin Liuli had straightly brought people inside. How come this time she politely announced her arrival?

Something wasn’t right.

Yu Qingluo suddenly jumped up from the couch she was sitting, her brows tightly pressed. Is Jin Liuli trying to tell her that there was a problem outside? Otherwise, she wouldn’t act this weirdly.

She looked from side to side until her eyes spotted a window on the left side of the room, however, the moment she reached for the window the door was pushed open from the other side. The ‘bam’ sound of the door opening was accompanied by Nannan’s overbearing call: “Mother, I’m here!”

Translator’s Notes

[1] I made a note of this in a previous chapter. But I believe the meaning for this is “To uncover the truth behind a long-standing mystery”. I chose to keep the original Chinese for this, only making a literal translation as I believe it’s not too weird.

[2] 见色忘义 – not sure if I explained this one before. But it can be even used as an equivalent of “hoes before bros”. Just, the meaning is a bit broader, and in this context, she’s implying that just because of meeting someone she loves dearly she forgot she had duties to perform. In romantic novels, this proverb is frequently used, especially when people complain about the ML/FL throwing their friends just to be with the romantic counterpart. I’m sure everyone has a friend like this IRL, that after getting a lover never hangs out with his friends again.
