"Who are you--"

Redus stood dumbfounded at the black shadow in the form of a wolf that appeared before him.

It wasn't just any black wolf. Moreover, it didn't seem to be a monster. While there are monsters that resemble wolves, such as hellhounds and dire wolves, this one didn't fit any of those categories.

It was undoubtedly more powerful than a monster. A vast amount of dark magic could be felt from the black shadow that formed its massive body.

The black wolf was staring straight at Maren, who was being held by Elicia.

However, Redus, who had been standing in shock, suddenly came to his senses and shouted.

"Everyone, wake up!! Send holy magic power to me!!"

Redus raised his hands and shouted.

Students from the Holy Magic Research Building poked their heads out, curious about what was happening. They immediately noticed the black wolf and sent holy magic power to Redus.

"Please wait, Mr. Redus!!"

Maren, who had been set down by Elicia, shouted at Redus.

The black wolf hadn't done anything yet. It seemed to be waiting for Maren's command.

But Redus had no time to listen.

The magic power and ominous atmosphere reminded him of something demonic. Redus must have judged the black wolf to be a dangerous entity.

"Holy light, destroy the darkness!! -- *Holy Light*!!"

Without turning to Maren, Redus transformed the magic power gathered from the students into an intense light and directed it at the black wolf.

The light rushed toward the black wolf with great speed.

However, the black wolf leaped high and avoided the light.

The black wolf, now floating in the air, turned its gaze to the ground--

"Me!?"

The black wolf didn't leap at Redus but at me.

It bared its large, black fangs and opened its mouth wide.

"Lord Alek, I'll handle this!!"

Elicia drew her sword, imbuing it with the light of holy magic, and swung it at the black wolf.

"Wait!"

As Maren shouted, Elicia, who was swinging her sword at the black wolf, replied.

"Don't worry, it's a thrust."

The blade struck the black wolf's abdomen, sending it flying.

Even though it was a thrust, it was imbued with holy magic. The shadow on the black wolf's abdomen was gouged out.

Maren tried to run to the black wolf but was held back by Redus.

"Maren, no!! Everyone, attack!! I'll cast a wide-area spell to protect the surroundings!!"

Redus said this and formed a dome of light around them.

The students who rushed to the scene cast holy magic at the fallen black wolf, but it quickly got up and avoided the attacks again.

Maren kept shouting, trying to get the black wolf to listen, but it wouldn't obey. Perhaps because it had already attacked once.

In any case, this black wolf was a very powerful summoned creature. I had seen the Fenrir Maren summoned yesterday, but this one had more magic power.

It didn't seem like the magic power Maren could supply... It must have been due to the magic power it received from my *Abyss*.

I looked at the crest on the back of my hand. For now, no magic power was leaking from the crest.

*The Abyss* must indeed supply a vast amount of dark magic power... If I let my guard down, it could be enough to be absorbed by the surroundings.

It's also possible that demons could absorb magic power. I should be more careful in the future...

In any case, I need to deal with this thing now.

Amid the blinding light of holy magic, the black wolf released a black breath from its mouth. Fortunately, the target remained me.

However, the breath was fast, and I couldn't avoid it with just physical movement.

I blended into the surrounding light and *Teleported* to a different location, then hid myself with *Shadow Wheel*.

Even so, the black wolf's aim didn't change. It seemed to know my position and immediately sent another breath my way.

I *Teleported* and avoided it for a while, but I noticed that the wall of light Redus had cast was cracking. It seemed that Redus and the students were struggling to handle this black wolf.

"If this continues, the university will be damaged--but to just defeat it..."

Summoned creatures don't die when defeated; they return to their original world and wait to be summoned again.

However, there was one thing I wanted to try before defeating it.

I signaled to Elicia.

Elicia drew her sword and ran toward the black wolf. She raised her sword, emitting a blinding light.

At the same time, I *Teleported* near the black wolf.

"I'm taking you with me--to Ars Island."

I *Teleported* with the black wolf to the sandy beach of Ars Island.

This was an area where I trained in dark magic, and it was uninhabited. No matter how much it rampaged, it wouldn't be a problem.

The black wolf, standing on the sandy beach, continued to glare at me. It didn't seem particularly surprised by the change in scenery, and its hostility toward me didn't wane.

The black wolf moved from side to side, maintaining a certain distance, as if observing me.

Earlier, I couldn't observe it closely due to the barrage of holy magic, but now I could see its details clearly.

With the Dragon Eye, I could see that this thing was made entirely of magic power. In other words, its entire body was composed of magic power.

Summoned creatures are summoned with magic power, so this wasn't unusual. The problem was the amount of magic power...

"Even if I try to defeat it with holy magic, it will be difficult... Then"

I *Teleported* near the black wolf and tried to absorb its magic power into my *Black Box* in one go.

"Summoned creatures should disappear when their magic power is depleted--but it's not working!"

However, the magic power couldn't be drawn in. It seemed to have a thick layer of magic power on its surface.

The black wolf quickly moved away and released a breath at me.

I didn't move and absorbed the breath directly into my *Black Box*.

The black wolf seemed to realize my intention and stopped releasing the breath. Its body had shrunk to about half its original size.

The black wolf changed its strategy. It bared its fangs and opened its mouth, charging at me.

It must have thought it could win in close combat.

But I already knew how to deal with it.

I *Teleported* to the side of the black wolf and showered its abdomen with holy magic.

Dark magic power leaked from the wound on its abdomen.

I absorbed this magic power into my *Black Box* again.

The black wolf, despite shrinking further, bravely charged at me again.

I repeated *Teleporting* and using holy magic, gradually depleting the black wolf's magic power.

As I was doing this, a loud voice came from behind.

"Lord Alek!! I heard from Elicia and came, this Selena is here!!"

Turning around, I saw Selena, fully armed, with her sword drawn, rushing toward me with great momentum.

"Leave it to me! I will--huh!?"

She froze when she saw the black wolf, which was too cute to be a black wolf, charging at the *Dark Wall* I had deployed.

"Ah, Selena. It's okay now."

As a result of absorbing the magic power, the black wolf had shrunk to the size of a puppy. The Fenrir I saw yesterday also gradually became smaller as its magic power decreased.

"Just a little more--"

But it seemed too pitiful to attack it with holy magic again...

I tried to stop the attack and spoke to the black wolf.

"I didn't do it, but I'm sorry for attacking you suddenly... I have no hostility. Would you like to become my familiar?"

When I asked, the black wolf didn't stop its charge.

Can summoned creatures become familiars... I don't know about summoned creatures other than those of darkness.

Perhaps it just didn't understand my words.

I continued to speak to the black wolf.

"Maren, who summoned you, didn't want this. Please forgive her."

When I said this, the black wolf stopped its attack.

"Huh? Do you understand Maren?"

The black wolf was still glaring at me. It seemed to understand some of my words.

However, the black wolf's body was gradually becoming thinner. It was about to disappear.

"Anyway, I'm sorry... When you are summoned again, please help Maren."

When I said this, the black wolf nodded.
