"Well, let's start practicing magic."
Returning to the study, I first pulled out a book titled "Introduction to Basic Magic" from the bookshelf and placed it in front of me along with a crystal ball that was covered in dust from being carelessly left aside.
From the way the crystal ball was handled, it seemed that no one in this house could actually use magic.
Undoubtedly, there wouldn't be anyone in our territory who could either.
After all, it's only one in several thousand people.
"Hmm... First, I need to place my hands over the crystal ball as if to cover it."
Following the instructions in the book, the crystal ball began to emit a faint rainbow light.
"It emits a rainbow light, but don't be surprised, as this happens to everyone. Next, imagine absorbing the rainbow light through your palms and circulating it within your body."
Again, following the book's instructions, the rainbow light from the crystal ball disappeared, and I gradually felt a sensation of warmth spreading through my body.
"The disappearance of the rainbow light and the feeling of warmth in the body indicate that the person has a talent for magic. However, there is a significant difference in talent, so don't have excessive expectations. Additionally, it is advisable to practice circulating this magic power within your body while slowly counting to 100 every day."
According to the book, magic power circulates through the magic veins, which are organs similar to blood vessels in the human body, and is stored in an organ called the magic sac.
However, these two organs cannot be discovered even if a human is dissected.
According to the theory, they exist in the same position as blood vessels and the liver but in a different dimension. This hypothesis, though not yet proven, is almost considered a fact according to the book.
"Circulating magic power and expanding the magic veins increases the power of magic. Consciously sending a large amount of magic power to the magic sac can also expand it, leading to an increase in magic power."
The magic sac reminds me of the organs that the monsters in the Ultraman series I watched as a child had, but apparently, even if you expand it through magic training, your belly won't swell.
Moreover, using a lot of magic to increase magic power seems to be a default in stories of this genre.
Additionally, it is said that the precision and power of magic, as well as the total amount of magic power, will increase.
"However, everyone has a limit. If you don't feel an increase in magic power for three consecutive days, it is almost certainly the limit of your magic power growth. It would be more worthwhile to increase the variety of magic you can use or improve the power and precision of your existing magic."
I see, the research has advanced to this extent, and the results are generously shared with the public.
The methods for acquiring magic have been thoroughly studied, but the number of people who can use it is extremely small.
However, it is very convenient, and the demand will only increase, not decrease.
"In other words, if you can use magic, the path to independence will be faster."
Next, I will start learning basic magic.
Since it's basic, I will produce a small flame on my fingertips, pour a cup of water into the bucket I brought, create and extinguish a small tornado on my palm, and turn the soil I brought from outside into sharp thorns to hit a piece of wood used as a target.
These were the repeated basic-level magic spells described in the book.
Moreover, basic magic can be performed immediately by visualizing it in your mind.
According to the book, there is no need to chant particularly complicated incantations or draw magic circles.
Some people might mumble or shout short phrases or words they come up with, or include actions like waving a wand.
If these actions improve the precision or power of the magic, then they are the right activation methods for that person. Some people, like me, can succeed by visualizing the image of the magic being activated in their mind without chanting.
The book had a rather harsh explanation: "In short, talented people can do it immediately, and those who can't, no matter how much they try, it's a waste of time."
"If you don't find it particularly difficult after a week, the next step is the intermediate level."
So, I flipped through the intermediate-level book as a preview.
The contents included magic spells like fire arrows, ice arrows, creating rock spikes from the ground to impale distant enemies, cutting enemies with small sickles, and simple body enhancement spells.
"Since I'm being ignored in this house anyway, I'll practice magic every day."
For the next week, I practiced magic as described in the book, but for some reason, my family never asked me if I could use magic.
Probably because they thought it was as unlikely as winning the lottery.
Since I'm just a nobody, they probably don't expect anything from me at all.
