Chapter 5

Today is a double update. First chapter.

After buying a slave, the 100 large gold coins I had were reduced to 39.

Next, I headed to the weapon and armor shop to get equipped.

Since I had never been there before, Lirisia guided me.

We walked down the main street, holding hands.

We then entered a large weapon and armor shop facing the street.

The spacious store was filled with swords, axes, armor, and shields.

Expensive swords and spears were displayed on the walls.

"Well, what kind of equipment can Lirisia use?"

"I think wooden or leather equipment that doesn't interfere with healing magic would be best. Also, if you have potions and herbs..."

"Huh? You can use healing magic, so why do you need herbs?"

"People who only use healing magic are called healers, and those who pray to the gods for healing and exorcism are called priests or clerics. Those who use multiple herbs and healing knowledge to enhance the effects of healing magic several times over are called curers."

"That's impressive... What about combat training?"

"Will curers fight as well?"

It seems I fundamentally didn't understand.

Even if you say you're a support role, you need to fight to defend yourself when surrounded by monsters.

I shook my head.

"Maybe 600 was too high after all."

"I'm very sorry! Simon probably didn't make much profit either, since I had a debt of around 450 to 500."

"Ah, well, it's fine. I just needed someone who knows common sense."

"I'm sorry, Master..."

"Don't worry. I'm counting on you."

When I patted her head, Lirisia blushed shyly.

We decided to choose armor first and look for weapons another time.

I chose an iron breastplate. Lirisia chose a leather armor, a wooden buckler, and a hooded robe.

Next, I looked for a weapon for myself.

Swords, axes, spears, halberds, hammers, and daggers.

I looked at various options.

Lirisia tilted her head, her abundant silver hair flowing smoothly.

"Are you not going to use a sword?"

"Hmm, it was hard to use. I feel like a different weapon would be better."

"Is that so? Is that so..."

She seemed confused and a bit dejected, showing a strange attitude.

I ignored it and picked up a weapon, putting force into it, and then put it back.

I repeated this process.

The reason heroes' attacks are strong against monsters is that they infuse their weapons with holy energy.

However, with swords, the holy energy tends to escape from the tip.

So, I was testing each weapon to see if it could hold the holy energy.

--But I couldn't find a good weapon.

I sighed and muttered to myself.

"There really aren't any good weapons in the store."

Then, a voice came from the counter.

"Hey, you're saying something, aren't you, buddy?"

"Huh?"

I turned to see a bearded man with his arms crossed standing at the counter, frowning.

"We have only the best stuff here. Are you saying my judgment is bad? Huh?"

"No, that's not it. I'm just looking for a weapon that can hold magical energy."

"Oh, you want a sword that can handle the skill [Magic Sword]?"

"No, not exactly... hmm"

I was trying to explain the unique power of a hero, the holy energy.

Then, Lirisia, who was standing next to me, nodded and shook her hair.

"Master has been looking for that kind of weapon! --Leave it to me!"

Lirisia then made a circle with her fingers and placed it over her eye.

She looked around the store with her finger glasses, not just the weapons on display but also those on the walls.

"Ah! There it is! --That sword looks good."

She pointed to a single-edged sword hanging on the wall.

The blade was as dark as night, with strange patterns etched into it. It looked quite ominous.

Is it really okay?

The man frowned.

"That's... a cursed sword. Are you sure you want it?"

"What kind of curse?"

"Just holding it drains your magic power."

"Hmm... Can I see it?"

"Don't faint, okay? It happens sometimes."

After warning me, the man took the sword from the wall, wrapped it in cloth, and brought it to the counter.

I took it and gripped the hilt.

Just holding it, the holy energy was being drained.

The black blade began to glow blue-white. It felt comfortable in my hand, and the holy energy was being stored in the sword rather than escaping.

"Wow. This is good--How much is it?"

"Ah, can you handle it? That's amazing... Well, since it's cursed, it's about 800,000 goats."

"I don't know the market price... What do you think, Lirisia?"

"Hmm, I'm not sure, but for a single-edged sword, that price seems... If it were a double-edged sword, it would be better..."

The man scratched his head.

"Okay, how about 720,000?"

"700,000?"

"Alright, 700,000."

I placed the iron breastplate, leather armor, buckler, robes, and bags on the counter.

"Can you also sell me this armor and shield?"

"Sure... The breastplate is 20, the leather armor is 25, the buckler is 5, two hooded robes are 4, and two backpacks are 4. The sword and everything together is 1,240,000 goats."

"Huh? The leather armor is more expensive?"

"If you want a cheaper one, it's 8. The brown ones on that shelf."

The leather armor was bleached white, thin, and finely made to fit a woman's curves.

I looked at Lirisia.

"Is this the best one?"

"Yes, this is the best quality."

She touched the white leather armor with her slender fingers and affirmed it.

--I'll trust Lirisia's judgment in choosing the sword.

"Alright. Then, this."

I took out 13 large gold coins from my bag and lined them up.

The man took them and gave me 6 small gold coins in change.

"Here's your change--So, are you going to equip them?"

"Yeah. I'll try them on."

--Without common sense, I might put them on incorrectly.

Following the man's instructions, Lirisia and I equipped ourselves.

I put the breastplate over my clothes and wore the robe. I also attached the sword to my waist.

Lirisia put on the thin leather armor under her white robe.

We both put on the backpacks.

--We felt like adventurers.

The man seemed to agree.

"You look quite the part. Good luck."

"Thanks," "Thank you for your help."

Lirisia and I thanked him and left the store.

As we walked down the street, Lirisia leaned in and whispered.

"Thank you for buying the equipment I chose. I'm very happy."

"Don't worry. I trust you, Lirisia."

"Thank you!"

"Next, we need to register as adventurers."

"Yes! The Adventurer's Guild is that way!"

Lirisia clung to my arm, pressing her chest against it, and guided me.

--Is this how slaves stick to their masters?

Without common sense or experience with women, I couldn't tell.

I tried to act calm, ignoring the softness of her chest against my arm, as we walked down the street.

Remaining funds: 26 large gold coins and 6 small gold coins. 2,660,000 goats.

Next chapter will be updated at night.
