Chapter 26

This mission's location is on another lower continent, and the task is quite simple: a border town has been occupied by the Blood Clan. Since there is a secret imperial research base near that town, after the local garrison failed to capture the town twice, the military command decisively dispatched the Red Scorpion.

For this battle, the Red Scorpion mobilized an entire company, a total of one hundred Black Scorpion-level warriors, led by three Red Scorpions. Additionally, including Qianye, fifty rookies accompanied them.

In the county where the town is located, over ten thousand local troops were also mobilized to support the Red Scorpion's operation. This was a truly large-scale battle, and many of the rookies were very excited from the start of the preparations.

Qianye boarded the intercontinental star cruiser, and after five days of continuous flight, they arrived at the target area.

Qianye followed the main force as they jumped off the cruiser and then boarded the waiting heavy trucks, heading towards the designated position.

As for the attack plan, it was incredibly simple: divide into three routes and directly assault the town, eliminating any resistance on the spot. And that was it.

The heavy trucks still drove wildly and noisily, their massive wheels roaring over the wilderness, like a herd of prehistoric mammoths charging forward.

Qianye sat on the truck, holding his elemental rifle, swaying slightly to maintain balance as the truck bounced up and down by more than a meter. He was now very accustomed to riding these black stone steam-powered machines and could even daydream a bit.

Unlike the other rookies, who excitedly checked their firearms repeatedly, Qianye began recalling information about the Blood Clan.

The Blood Clan is one of the main dark races, also known as vampires by humans. True Blood Clan members look highly similar to humans, with an extraordinary elegance and beauty that humans cannot match.

They possess long lives and great power. Theoretically, Blood Clan members can live for over a thousand years once they reach the Duke level. They can also choose to sleep for long periods, during which their vitality drains extremely slowly. It is said that in the depths of Blood Clan territory, there are terrifying beings that have been sleeping for over ten thousand years!

The Blood Clan is extremely dangerous, with great strength and speed, and they are highly intelligent.

The elemental rifle was originally invented by humans to compensate for their lack of elemental power. Later, the dark races stole the manufacturing method and developed their own elemental rifles powered by dark elemental energy. Among these, the Blood Clan's elemental rifles are the most exquisite and luxurious, highly sought after in human high society, with a single Blood Clan-crafted elemental rifle often fetching an astronomical price.

Finally, the Blood Clan has a unique method of inheritance. They can reproduce with their own kind or convert humans into Blood Clan members through a ritual called the "First Embrace," by injecting their original blood into a human. Human blood is also the Blood Clan's favorite food.

Therefore, the Blood Clan and humans have the deepest mutual understanding. During the initial period when the dark races ruled the world, the Blood Clan kept the most humans. Large numbers of humans were raised to provide blood for the Blood Clan. In the eyes of the Blood Clan, humans were no different from pigs and sheep.

Qianye had killed Blood Clan members both at the Netherworld Training Camp and in the Red Scorpion. However, those were not true Blood Clan warriors, and there were not many of them. They were also restricted by elemental shackles and could only move around sporadically in the exam area.

This time was different; it was a direct war against the Blood Clan.

While the heavy trucks were advancing, the veterans on board gave each rookie three specially made pure silver elemental bullets.

These elemental bullets are solid bullets that can be loaded into the magazine of an elemental rifle. The empty casings can be produced industrially or handmade, but only third-level and above combat soldiers can infuse elemental power into them to form complete elemental solid bullets.

These three silver bullets have an additional killing effect on vampires. They only issued three because these were all second-level combat soldiers. Even if they were given a hundred elemental bullets, they could only fire the elemental rifle three times in a single battle.

The rookies silently loaded the silver bullets into their rifles and then waited for the battle to begin.

The heavy trucks charged directly to within two hundred meters of the town! They screeched to a halt, forming a long, snake-like formation, both as a roadblock and excellent cover.

People on the city walls began firing old-fashioned firearms at the trucks, but the metal bullets could not penetrate the one-centimeter-thick steel plates. The Black Scorpion-level veterans began to counterattack, firing elemental bullets that whistled towards the city walls, blasting both the walls and the shooters into the sky.

In an instant, the firepower on the city walls was suppressed, and Qianye and the other rookies immediately jumped out of the trucks, rushing towards the town under the lead of the veterans.

The battle was even simpler than expected. The Red Scorpion captain charged forward, and whenever a Blood Clan warrior appeared, a silver bullet would track them down.

The Red Scorpion captain never missed, targeting only high-level Blood Clan warriors and ignoring the ordinary ones, leaving them to his subordinates. The Black Scorpion-level warriors would then filter through, eliminating most of the Blood Clan warriors the captain let through, leaving a few for the rookies to practice on.

Qianye raised his hand, and his elemental rifle trembled. His live target scores had always been perfect, and this time was no exception. The silver elemental bullet left the barrel, opening a large hole in a vampire's forehead. The wound immediately emitted a hissing white smoke, the flesh charred black, as if burned by a strong acid.

The Blood Clan member stood stiffly, and two more blood flowers bloomed on his body. It turned out that two rookies couldn't control themselves and shot the expensive silver bullets at the already dead vampire. They, of course, gained no military merit points.

Qianye's rifle quickly moved horizontally, and as soon as it was in position, he fired again, blasting a Blood Clan warrior who had just appeared on the roof. After just a few seconds, Qianye's rifle roared again, and another Blood Clan warrior screamed and fell.

Among the rookies, Qianye's performance was particularly outstanding, taking down three Blood Clan warriors with three shots, his record almost matching that of the Black Scorpion-level veterans!

Now, stepping onto a real battlefield, Qianye deeply understood the uniqueness of the Netherworld Training Camp.

Nine years of brutal training in life and death had made his combat reactions a part of his body's instinct. In almost any situation, Qianye would make the most correct response and seize fleeting opportunities to counterattack fiercely.

The Netherworld Training Camp's purpose was to train the top killers, so their combat style emphasized striking only when necessary and ensuring a kill with every strike. If Qianye had the chance to counterattack, the enemy was almost certain to die.

Therefore, on the real battlefield, Qianye began to shine, his performance far exceeding his paper statistics. Not only did he suppress the majority of the rookies, but he even outperformed many Black Scorpion veterans!

This was the true style of a Netherworld graduate!

The Blood Clan warriors in the town numbered in the hundreds, indicating a small clan invasion. The local army had previously mobilized tens of thousands of troops, launching two major attacks, losing nearly ten thousand soldiers, but achieving nothing.

However, after the Red Scorpion army joined the battle, they advanced like a force of nature, quickly capturing all key points in the town and killing the majority of the Blood Clan warriors on the spot, with none escaping.

This battle made Qianye understand why the Red Scorpion, a regular army of just ten thousand soldiers, had over two hundred thousand support personnel across various bases. A company of Red Scorpions had the combat power equivalent to tens of thousands of imperial regular troops. Compared to local forces, the difference was even more pronounced.

The empire has always been pragmatic, even to the point of being cold and ruthless. Combat power directly determined the treatment of the army, a form of fairness where everything was decided by strength. The number of troops was never a consideration.

After occupying the town, a shocking scene unfolded.

Suddenly, thousands of people poured out of several buildings, charging towards the Red Scorpion and imperial soldiers. Their eyes were vacant, their teeth white, and their lips purple-black. These people had completely lost their minds, becoming beasts that only recognized fresh flesh and blood!

The Red Scorpion soldiers seemed to have anticipated this. They calmly put away their elemental rifles and switched to firearms. Various machine guns, automatic rifles, and even machine cannons roared, forming a metal storm that tore apart the charging crowd!

Many of the charging people were wearing relatively intact uniforms of the imperial local army, clearly the soldiers who had been trapped in the town during the previous attacks!

The local army soldiers who followed the Red Scorpion into the town mostly stopped in shock, but the Red Scorpion soldiers were unmoved, coldly and efficiently reaping lives!

"No! Stop, that's my brother!" A young local army soldier suddenly shouted, rushing towards a Red Scorpion captain, trying to grab his waist to stop him from shooting.

The Red Scorpion captain simply sidestepped, knocking him to the ground, and then pulled the trigger, turning the charging local army soldier into a sieve.

"You killed my brother! I... I'm going to kill you!" The young soldier shouted in anger, pointing his gun at the Red Scorpion captain.

A cold light flashed in the Red Scorpion captain's eyes, and he drew his pistol, blasting half of the young soldier's head off with a single shot!

The Red Scorpion captain scanned the local army soldiers and said coldly, "Do you also plan to rebel?"

The local army soldiers all showed fear and immediately denied it.

"Then why aren't you attacking! Those are not people, they are blood slaves!" The Red Scorpion captain shouted sternly, raising the machine cannon in his hand, aiming it at them.

Under the threat of the Red Scorpion captain's gun, the local army soldiers finally raised their weapons, nervously starting to shoot. Their numbers were dozens of times greater than the Red Scorpion army, and a single volley created a dense curtain of bullets, quickly mowing down the charging crowd.

The Red Scorpion captain nodded in satisfaction, then raised his right fist and shouted, "Attention all! Now begin free action, kill everyone in this city! Repeat, kill everyone, regardless of age, gender, or children!"

This order stunned Qianye. In his mind, killing soldiers and adult men was natural, but why target the elderly, women, and children?

However, in both the Netherworld and the Red Scorpion, obeying orders was the first military rule.

Qianye slung his elemental rifle over his back, picked up a spare automatic rifle, and began searching the city's alleys.

He had just turned a corner when a young boy suddenly ran out from a door at the end of the alley.
