Chapter 34

The scavenger suddenly chuckled a few times, put away his fire gun, and took out a few copper coins, pushing them to the young man on the bar, saying, "Hehe, I was just joking! Just a joke! This is all I have, you can give me whatever you want, as long as it can get me drunk!"
The bar suddenly came to life again, with many patrons sighing in regret, feeling they had missed a good show.
The strongest and most ferocious of the scavengers, Six with the Buck Teeth, laughed heartily and said, "Scarface Feng, I've always said, with your character, you'd dare to cause trouble?!"
"Yeah, he looks like a newcomer."
"Damn, this guy is pretty smart! Too bad we didn't get to see a good show. It's been a long time since anyone died here, sigh!"
"Oh, I guess all the guys who dared to cause trouble in front of Qianye are already dead?"
The patrons chattered away. Since there was no good show to watch, their topics quickly turned to women and boasting about their own abilities.
Behind the bar, Qianye remained calm and collected, pocketed the few copper coins from Scarface Feng, and then poured a large glass of strong liquor, along with the previous cocktails, on a ridiculously large tray, and delivered it to the scavengers' table.
When Qianye returned to the bar, Scarface Feng looked at the bar with lingering fear and lowered his voice, saying, "What's this guy's background? I've never been this scared, even when facing werewolves and blood slaves!"
"He's called Qianye, he moved to Lighthouse Town half a year ago, and has been running this bar ever since. Do you understand?" the old scavenger said slowly, adding, "Of course, the drinks here are really good."
Scarface Feng looked enlightened.
To be able to run a bar for half a year in a place where blood is shed every day, he must not be an ordinary person.
Strength isn't just about appearance. It's said that the pure-blooded vampires, despite their frail appearance, are true devils, capable of crushing a dozen Imperial Expeditionary Army soldiers with a single finger! And any of the Imperial Expeditionary Army soldiers, even the cooks, could take out dozens of scavengers like them.
Behind the bar, Qianye stood motionless, like a statue, not knowing whether he was daydreaming or deep in thought. This was his signature pose; when there was no work to do, Qianye would become part of the bar's background.
In the drawer under the bar, there was a large-caliber Colt revolver. This heavy and well-crafted weapon, with a classic design, could hold seven bullets and was produced by the Empire's military giant, Blackstone Heavy Industries. It was known as the "little steel cannon" among powder guns, with a power far beyond the old fire guns of the scavengers.
In the first few days after Manjushage opened, this Colt had shattered the heads of six men, and then no one dared to cause trouble anymore, at least not the townspeople.
The noise in the bar grew louder, and the patrons' movements became more exaggerated, with women's angry screams occasionally breaking out.
But as long as a few copper coins were slipped into their bodices, these women would turn their anger into joy, and with a few more coins, they would twist their strong waists, sit on the men's laps, and let them touch as much as they wanted. As for further advances, it depended on mutual consent and the price.
Manjushage had guest rooms, but they were rarely used. Getting a room was a very luxurious thing. If it could be done on the grass, why go to a room? This was the thinking of most scavengers.
Qianye watched indifferently, as if everything was very distant from him.
These women had nothing to do with him; they were just using this place to do business. With them around, the patrons would drink more enthusiastically, like rutting boars.
A scavenger had already grabbed a woman and rushed out the side door in a hurry. The door hadn't even closed when the sound of a heavy object hitting the ground was heard, followed by the man's heavy breathing and the woman's exaggerated screams.
The scavengers who had just returned to the city had some money in their pockets, and their uncertain lives made them more generous than the townspeople, so they were more popular with the women. Of course, as long as they still had copper coins in their pockets.
The atmosphere in the bar was immediately ignited.
Qianye became busy, with drink orders flying in one after another. But his movements were skilled and steady, and the glasses of strong liquor seemed to be produced on an assembly line, with all requests strictly followed in order, without error or omission, precise like a machine.
At this moment, a woman walked in. She wore a short jacket, a black tight-fitting corset underneath, restraining her full chest, and a pair of canvas pants commonly worn by adventurers, exposing her slender but strong waist and abdomen. A black scorpion was tattooed on her abdomen, adding a wild allure to her youthful and vibrant body.
The biggest difference between her and the other women in the bar was the youthful vitality that seemed to radiate from every inch of her, with a fresh scent like rain-soaked grass. Additionally, her lips were as red as fire, making her the most striking presence in the dim and lascivious place.
As soon as she entered the bar, she immediately became the focus of the men's gazes.
"Girl! How much for a night?" a scavenger who had just arrived in Lighthouse Town called out.
"One Imperial silver coin," the woman replied as directly as the scavenger's question, walking straight to the bar and sitting down.
This price made several new scavengers change their expressions. That was an Imperial silver coin! They would have to wander the wilderness for two months to earn one Imperial silver coin.
However, the woman exuded a youthful and wild aura, as if every inch of her skin was glowing, making the men's hearts burn. From the moment she entered, the other women in the bar seemed to become old hens with missing feathers in comparison.
"Is your insides made of original alloy?" someone began to complain. But he was quickly pulled back by a friend.
"That's Min'er, she's very intense, but she has many thorns! Don't provoke her unless you have to!" the friend whispered.
Min'er tapped the bar and said, "Give me something, anything, as long as it's stimulating."
Qianye silently prepared a large glass of liquor, then took out a small silver flask from his pocket, dropped a drop of something into the glass, and pushed it to Min'er. The greedy gazes of the patrons immediately focused on the glass in front of Min'er.
That silver flask was the bar's signature recipe, and no one knew what was inside. But even the cheapest liquor, with just one drop of the contents, would become fragrant and a small sip would make one forget all their troubles.
Min'er, no matter what she ordered, always got one drop, which was a special favor for her.
She seemed unsatisfied and extended her hand, asking, "Do you have any cigarettes? The special kind."
Qianye took out a handmade cigarette from under the bar, with a prominent red line on it.
Min'er snatched it, lit it, and took a deep inhale, holding her breath for a long time. Finally, when she couldn't hold it any longer, she exhaled a puff of smoke with a special aroma, and her face immediately turned an abnormal rosy color.
Many people in the bar stretched their necks and inhaled the scattered smoke.
The cigarette was short, and she only took three puffs before it burned out.
Min'er looked at the extinguished butt with regret and said, "Another one!"
But Qianye didn't move, "You can only smoke one every three days, or you'll die quickly."
"Anyway, I've lived enough!" Min'er said with a hint of self-abandonment. But no matter what she said, she didn't get a second special cigarette, and Qianye eventually ignored her completely.
Min'er's gaze shifted to Qianye's face, and she said with a half-smile, "Xiaoye, do you know, I've often wanted to scratch your face! I don't like seeing anything prettier than me!"
Qianye's lips twitched slightly, as if he had smiled.
Min'er raised her hands in surrender and stared at Qianye, saying, "Alright, I don't want the cigarette. Will you buy me a drink?"
Qianye remained unresponsive to her hopeful gaze, as the offer of a drink implied something else. In this abandoned land where only transactions existed and no true friendships, there was no such thing as a free drink. If Qianye bought her a drink, she would have to pay with her body in return.
Seeing Qianye's lack of reaction, Min'er angrily slammed the bar and raised her voice, "Who's willing to pay for me tonight?"
Many people involuntarily swallowed, their fiery and greedy gazes roving over Min'er, but no one responded. An Imperial silver coin! Unless they were truly mad, they wouldn't spend such a large sum on a woman.
Finally, a tall, one-eyed giant walked over, licked his lips, and slammed an Imperial silver coin on the bar, shouting, "I'll do it!"
Min'er huffed and said, "I said, I don't like you. You're not good enough!"
The one-eyed giant didn't react, just chuckled and returned to his seat.
Min'er flicked the silver coin, which flew in an arc and landed on his head. The one-eyed giant caught the coin and called out, "You'll like me eventually!"
"Next life!" Min'er shouted back.
Min'er took out dozens of copper coins, slapped them on the bar, and swept her hand, making the coins fly up in a line and neatly land in Qianye's shirt pocket. Her skillful move earned a round of applause.
If the copper coins were replaced with flying knives?
The scavengers who had wanted to sleep with her shrank back, realizing this woman was indeed a tough one.
"I want a room!" Min'er said.
"The third one is free," Qianye said, handing her a key, as he always spoke little.
Min'er twirled the keychain with her slender fingers, staring at Qianye with a gaze that could burn, and said with a half-smile, "I won't lock the door tonight, if you have the guts, come in!"
"But I will lock the door," Qianye replied.
Min'er spat out a dirty word and angrily slammed the bar. But when her fist hit, the entire bar shook!
The patrons looked around in confusion, while Qianye's eyes flashed with a faint light before returning to normal.
Outside, the bald police chief's voice suddenly rang out in terror, "Wait! I'm opening the door! I'm opening the door!"
Before the chief finished speaking, a deafening explosion came from outside, the shockwave and blast wave shattered all the windows of Manjushage. Shards of glass rained down on many people, and some unfortunate ones were cut, but no one complained, as they all stared in fear at the outside.
Heavy footsteps echoed through the town, the sound of military boots hitting the ground.
