"Of course, there are few things in this city that I don’t know about, especially when they involve hunters."
Erlang played with the scope and added, "The value of these things far exceeds their functionality. It’s a pity to modify them. How about this: you can exchange them for equipment from the Hunter’s Guild warehouse. How about a set of tactical attachments for an assault rifle?"
Qianye, of course, agreed. The artistic value meant nothing to him; he only needed weapons that could kill.
Erlang put away the attachments and then led Qianye to the warehouse. He took a suitcase from a shelf and handed it to Qianye.
Qianye opened it and felt very satisfied. This was a set of tactical attachments for the empire’s main army rifles. Although it was a second-tier configuration, the overall performance of the complete set was no worse than a scattered third-tier set. Qianye particularly liked these standardized tactical attachments because he didn’t need to familiarize himself with them; he could use them right away.
Erlang handed over another ammunition box, containing ten blank force rounds, and said, "This box isn’t as valuable as those attachments, so I’ll give you some small items."
This was exactly what Qianye needed. The werewolf mission had depleted all his reserves.
Erlang suddenly asked, "What do you plan to do about Tianshe?"
Qianye’s expression darkened slightly but quickly returned to normal. He said calmly, "For now, it’s like this. Once I advance again, we’ll see what to do then."
Erlang detected a hint of killing intent in Qianye’s calm tone. He tapped the shelf and said, "Tianshe isn’t an ordinary fifth-tier warrior. He’s not easy to deal with. As the head of the Hunter’s House in Dark Blood City, I can’t directly intervene in the dispute between hunters and Tianshe."
Qianye, who was skillfully assembling the tactical attachments into a folding grip, said without looking up, "I understand that."
"If you have any other needs in the future, you can come to me. For example, borrowing some money or equipment, of course, in my personal name, and the amount won’t be too much. Unless you can prove that you have the qualifications for a big bet. You know, the Hunter’s House isn’t run by me alone."
Qianye paused, then disassembled the grip he had just assembled with dazzling speed, and finally looked up at Erlang, saying, "I heard that you usually don’t get involved in such matters..."
Erlang’s weathered face showed no signs, and he said, "This time, Tianshe went too far. If Yingnan really ends up on the death stage, our Hunter’s House will lose face."
"But she still owes Tianshe a large sum of money, so there will be trouble," Qianye frowned.
Erlang shook his head and said, "I can’t help her with that. She’s too proud and unwilling to be inferior to anyone. She’s a good hunter, but not a good captain. You and she went on a mission together, so you should know this. If I help her further, it will only lead her further down the wrong path."
Qianye simply nodded without further comment.
Although this mission was completed smoothly, it was based on many non-replicable factors. From the beginning, Qianye had noticed that Yu Yingnan’s intelligence gathering and tactical preparation were insufficient. If it weren’t for her last-minute recruitment of Qianye, this operation would have been another disastrous failure.
Yu Yingnan probably still doesn’t know that Qianye’s familiarity with werewolves far exceeds that of the so-called werewolf expert Yang Tian, and his strength far surpasses a one-star hunter, even stronger than everyone in the team, including Yu Yingnan. If anyone else had entered the werewolf den, they wouldn’t have been able to severely injure the four werewolf elders and ultimately seize the totem.
In fact, Yu Yingnan is not suitable for large-scale missions that require coordination among multiple people; she should be a lone hunter.
Qianye packed away the equipment, and Erlang added, "Be careful, Tianshe might still come after you. He doesn’t like letting people who pose a threat to him live peacefully."
"I’ll be careful. But I think he should be more careful," Qianye said with a cold smile.
Erlang didn’t say anything, left the warehouse, and returned to the counter to read his book.
Qianye left the Hunter’s House and found a shop selling various herbs. He used the remaining gold coins to buy several herbs and a set of purification tools. These herbs would be used to prepare a special potion. In a diluted state, it would be a pleasant synthetic fragrance, but in a concentrated state, it would actually be a scaled-down version of a military-grade stimulant.
Qianye left the pharmacy with his purchases and turned a corner. A group of noisy young people walked towards him, immediately filling the narrow street.
The young man in the center was animated, recounting his experience of hunting a formal Bloodline Warrior. The others around him flattered and fawned, making him laugh even more.
The exposed skin of several of them had snake tattoos, and Qianye immediately knew they were members of the Tianshe gang. He frowned, moved to the side, and let them pass.
The group walked past Qianye, and the young man in the center glanced at him, suddenly his eyes lit up, and he said, "Wait, I recognize you. You’re the little hunter who took out the Golden Rose that day! Even though you look a bit different, trying to fool me with such a small trick is impossible!"
Qianye’s gaze fell on the young man’s waist, where there was a finely crafted holster. From the shape and the exposed gun handle, it was clearly the Golden Rose.
It seemed this young man was not just anyone, to carry the Golden Rose as a sidearm. Even in the upper layers of the continent, this gun would not disgrace the scions of some minor noble families.
The young man pushed aside the others, walked up to Qianye, and extended his hand, saying, "Hand it over!"
Qianye frowned and asked, "Hand over what?"
The young man sneered and said, "Still trying to play dumb in front of me! Fine, I’ll pretend you’re really dumb! Hand over the tactical attachments for the Golden Rose. There must be a complete set of specialized tactical attachments for this gun. Don’t tell me there aren’t any!"
Qianye’s brows furrowed even more, and he asked, "Who are you?"
The young man turned back and laughed exaggeratedly, saying to the Tianshe gang members behind him, "Me? He’s asking who I am? Haha!" This immediately drew a chorus of laughter.
After a few more laughs, he leaned close to Qianye, poked him hard in the chest, and said through gritted teeth, "I’ll tell you who I am! Tianshe is my father! Now do you know who I am?"
"Got it, but I don’t have the attachments for the Golden Rose," Qianye said calmly.
"No?" The young man was taken aback, then his face changed, and he shouted in a fit of rage, "No! Do you think I’m an idiot? The Golden Rose always comes as a set. When have you ever seen a gun without attachments? I’m telling you, hand over the items honestly, and today I’ll just break your two dog legs! If you don’t hand them over..."
His face turned cold, and he said, "I think you look pretty good, and many of my brothers like men. So, we’ll just rape you here and then throw you to the dogs!"
Hearing this threat, Qianye suddenly smiled, like ice breaking in spring. His already delicate and refined features looked even younger, his obsidian eyes curved into a gentle arc, almost innocent and pure. This was the same smile he had when he first arrived in Lighthouse Town and was harassed by a few ruffians.
At this moment, a thin man came up and whispered something in the young man’s ear. The young man’s eyes immediately lit up, and he sized up Qianye, saying, "I heard you just completed a high-level mission and got a lot of gold coins! Since you don’t have the attachments, how about you treat us to some food and drinks?"
The young man’s exaggerated laughter turned lecherous, and he raised his hand to touch Qianye’s chin. But this time, his hand was only halfway extended when Qianye grabbed his wrist, and he couldn’t move it any further!
The young man struggled a few times but couldn’t budge at all! His smile froze on his face, and he shouted at Qianye, "What do you think you’re doing? Let go!"
He signaled to his left and right, and suddenly shouted, "Take him out!" Two Tianshe gang members approached Qianye from either side, their daggers stabbing viciously at his waist and ribs!
Qianye’s face turned cold, and his left hand suddenly exerted force, causing a crackling sound of bone breaking in the young man’s wrist! Then Qianye let go and stepped back, just in time to avoid the two vicious daggers.
Qianye suddenly struck with both hands, accurately grabbing the wrists of the two men, twisting and pushing. The daggers changed direction and stabbed into the abdomens of their wielders, sinking to the hilt!
The young man was momentarily stunned, forgetting the intense pain in his wrist, and exclaimed, "You actually dared to kill Tianshe gang members!?"
He suddenly stepped back and shouted to his left and right, "All together, take this guy down!"
Several Tianshe gang members drew their machetes and daggers and rushed at Qianye, while others pulled out their guns and aimed at him from the periphery, firing at the first opportunity!
Qianye stood steadily in place, taking only a few small steps to dodge all the bullets and machetes.
Then Qianye’s gun fired, and the eight bullets in the magazine were instantly emptied. The gunshots rang out in a continuous roar, and the eight Tianshe gang members fell one by one, either hit in the forehead or the heart, all dying on the spot.
Qianye was still using Cole, an old-style pistol. Although it was a fire-based weapon, its close-range power was commendable, making it suitable for dealing with these non-first-tier warriors.
Seeing most of his subordinates fall, the young man gasped in shock! Before he could react, Qianye hooked a foot, and a dropped gun from a Tianshe gang member flew into his hand. Another series of gunshots rang out, and no one standing next to the young man remained standing.
Qianye walked towards him, raised his gun, and said calmly, "One bullet left."
"If you kill me, my father will never let you off! We can talk about this..." The young man was panic-stricken, stepping back step by step.
Suddenly, he let out a strange cry and kicked viciously at Qianye’s lower abdomen!
The kick produced a faint crackling sound of force, indicating its power!
