The two stood facing each other for several seconds, then simultaneously sniffed the air, both catching the scent of fresh blood from the other.
"Which clan are you from? Why are you here?" the girl asked in a low voice.
"That's what I was going to ask you," Qianye replied.
Blood surged in the girl's eyes as she said, "You're not trying to interrupt my meal, are you?"
"I was just about to leave. But I have to say, your taste is really not that great!"
"This is none of your business!" The girl revealed the fangs in her mouth threateningly.
Qianye slowly backed away, turned the corner, and continued down the stairs at a steady pace, neither hurried nor relaxed.
Several times, a fierce light flashed in the blood girl's eyes. But as she listened to Qianye's steady footsteps and recalled the fleeting red light in his eyes, she hesitated and finally gave up, continuing to run upstairs silently.
Qianye let out a sigh of relief when he walked out of the building and quickly used the Military Conquest Technique to cover the blood energy he had forcibly stimulated.
The longer he stayed at the scene, the greater the risk of exposure. When he smelled the girl's blood, he immediately activated his dark vision and tried to stimulate the blood energy in his body. The effect was surprisingly good, making the girl mistake him for a member of her own clan.
Qianye put this small incident out of his mind, quickened his pace, and headed toward another target.
As he passed a small alley entrance, Qianye brushed past a tall, thin man. Both of them were startled and moved a little further apart.
Qianye didn't stop and hurried away.
The tall, thin man stood there for a moment, watching Qianye's retreating figure, frowning in thought. He suddenly muttered to himself, "That's an Eagle Strike on his back! Strange, could he be from another legion of the expeditionary force?"
He shrugged, spat with disgust, and said, "I hate those expeditionary scum the most! But why does this guy give me a familiar feeling?"
This strange man was none other than Yu Renyan, who had treated his trip to Dark Blood City as a holiday. He had been hunting dark races outside the city for days and still felt unsatisfied. He even joined a mercenary group to besiege a spider demon, but only returned to the city when the situation on the wasteland became tense.
When he brushed past Qianye, he didn't immediately recognize Qianye, who had changed both in appearance and essence. Moreover, Qianye was carrying an Eagle Strike, and those in the expeditionary force who could use such a weapon were no ordinary people. Yu Renyan was particularly unwilling to deal with people from the expeditionary force, and even if he did, he might not be able to handle someone who could use an Eagle Strike.
He stood there for a while, feeling something was off, but couldn't figure it out and had to leave reluctantly. However, just as he walked out of the street, Yu Renyan suddenly saw a large man walking quickly ahead and immediately shouted, "Stop!"
The large man stopped, slowly turned around, and sneered at Yu Renyan, saying, "Are you looking for death?"
Yu Renyan cracked his knuckles, making a popping sound, and said menacingly, "I think you're the one looking for death! I can smell the stench of a gray-skinned dog on you!"
The large man bent slightly and said coldly, "So you're just a little hunter. What can you do? Do you think I'm like other werewolves? You're wrong!"
"Actually, I'm not like other hunters either."
With that, Yu Renyan strode toward the large man.
The battle erupted and ended in an instant!
Half a street was reduced to ruins, and the two figures separated, each flying in a different direction, disappearing into the depths of the night, leaving a chaotic street behind.
Not far away, Qianye was walking toward a five-story building. The battle had also alarmed him, and he turned his head to look in the direction of the sound, just in time to see a figure dart past the alley entrance.
The speed and the aura of primal energy made Qianye's heart beat faster for a moment. He immediately calmed himself down, knowing that in this dangerous night, the more he acted normally, the safer he would be.
Dark Blood City was now extremely abnormal, with an unknown number of dark races infiltrating it, and they were all acting very brazenly.
However, Qianye knew this situation wouldn't last long. The expeditionary force would not tolerate such a situation and would soon take iron-fisted measures to search and kill the dark races throughout the city. However, such search operations usually caused more collateral damage than the dark races they killed. When the city lost its order, the first to suffer would be the civilians who had no means of self-protection.
Qianye steadied himself and took a look at the environment of the building.
The building in front of him was clearly on a different level from the high-rise that was barely better than a slum. It had a row of floor-to-ceiling windows, the exterior paint was new, and several thick metal pipes ran along the walls, used to transport fuel, steam, and hot water. There was even a parking lot in front of the building, and a burly security guard sat in the foyer behind the door.
Those who could live here were considered upper-middle class in Dark Blood City.
Qianye walked directly to the main door, and the security guard immediately stood up, blocking Qianye's path with his two-meter-tall, fat body. "Hey, kid, who are you looking for? This isn't a place for you to wander around."
The security guard tapped his hand with a steel rod, eyeing Qianye's adventurer outfit with ill intent. However, his actions suddenly stopped because Qianye had already punched him in the stomach!
Qianye's entire forearm sank into the security guard's abdomen. The security guard's eyes widened, his face instantly drained of color, and then turned red.
Qianye pulled his fist back, and the security guard fell to his knees, slowly bending over. Qianye delivered a chop to the back of his neck, and the security guard immediately collapsed, unconscious.
Qianye dragged him back into the guard room, closed the door, and headed for the stairs, reaching the fifth floor in no time. There were only two households on this floor, and Qianye stopped at the door on the left and knocked.
After a moment, a small window on the door opened, revealing a sharp, thin face looking at Qianye warily. "Who are you looking for?"
The man's face turned to shock as soon as he finished speaking because a black, gaping gun barrel was already pointing at his face through the small window. The barrel was unusually large, and the man could see the glow of primal energy, which terrified him even more. To him, the iron door was no different from a thin sheet of paper in front of this gun!
"Open the door!" Qianye said calmly.
But before the man could react, Qianye's left hand grabbed the small window and suddenly exerted force. With a loud crash, the entire iron door, along with its frame, was torn from the wall!
A small window on the door of the other household opened a crack, revealing a plump, middle-aged woman's face. She glanced outside, and her face of anger immediately turned to shock and horror. Her thick, crimson lips opened wide enough to fit a large valve.
With a slap, the woman immediately closed the small window, turned off the lights in the room, and then there was the sound of something heavy falling, followed by complete silence.
Qianye didn't care whether the woman had fainted or was pretending to be dead. He walked into the now defenseless room. The middle-aged man, who was being pointed at by the Butcher, took a few steps back until he fell onto the sofa.
Qianye pulled over a chair, sat down opposite the man, and asked calmly, "Mr. Liao?"
The man's face turned ashen, and he hurriedly said, "I... I am! Sir, let's talk things out. I still have some influence in the Viper Gang. Whatever you want, just say it! As long as I can do it, anything can be negotiated!"
Qianye smiled slightly and said, "What I want is simple: the bounty on my head, which is about a thousand gold coins!"
Mr. Liao jumped up, exclaiming, "You're Qianye! You actually dare... to come back?"
"Not only have I come back, but I've also prepared many gifts for the Viper Gang. Mr. Liao, you are one of them."
"I..."
Mr. Liao wanted to say more, but Qianye didn't give him the chance. He spun the Butcher's cylinder and pulled the trigger. The primal energy round easily penetrated Mr. Liao's body, leaving a large hole in his chest and abdomen.
Mr. Liao looked down at the terrifying hole in his body, made a hoarse sound, and frantically tried to cover the wound with his hands. But before he could reach it, he fell onto the sofa and didn't move again.
Qianye stood up and heard a slight sound from the inner room. That should be Mr. Liao's family. According to the information, he had a wife, two concubines, and several children. However, this time Qianye didn't intend to expand the slaughter and turned to leave.
Killing Mr. Liao would be a severe blow to the Viper Gang. The Viper Gang's development to its current scale was largely due to Mr. Liao's strategic planning.
The Viper was a top-tier fifth-level warrior, but his special ability was defense, not offense, and he was not considered top-tier among the city's rats and foxes. It was because of Mr. Liao that he could navigate the various forces in the city and even gradually build a relationship with the expeditionary force.
Eliminating Black Wolf and Mr. Liao was like cutting off two of the Viper's fangs. The Viper Gang still had three major experts, but the Bird should have been scared out of his wits, and the other two experts, after the Viper himself was severely injured, would need to seriously consider their future. Dark Blood City was not just the Viper Gang.
All of Qianye's actions tonight had good results. He planned to return to his hiding place to rest and recover from his injuries. He would continue to cause trouble for the Viper Gang in a few days.
Back at the small hotel, Qianye fell onto the bed and fell asleep. He had used a lot of primal energy today and was exhausted.
In a detached house on the other side of the city, Yu Renyan stood in the bathroom, pouring a basin of ice water over his head. There were three deep and long wounds on his body, the flesh torn open.
The ice water running over the wounds made his face twitch, but it also washed away the clotted blood and flesh.
Yu Renyan took out a bottle of black liquid and pressed the nozzle against the wounds.
What came out of the nozzle was a pale blue flame! The flame touched the wounds and then retreated, but Yu Renyan was in such pain that he fell to the ground, convulsing and rolling. It took great effort to endure the inhuman pain, and he was drenched in sweat. His eyes showed resentment, madness, and a hint of excitement.
The large man was very strong, not only reaching the sixth level but also having combat skills that were no less than Yu Renyan's. Their brief fight left both of them severely injured. Yu Renyan was seriously wounded, but the large man probably wasn't in much better shape.
Once the pain subsided, Yu Renyan put on his clothes, walked out of the bathroom, and called in a young, attractive woman, saying, "Go ask headquarters what's happening around Dark Blood City recently. Why are so many dark races flooding in?"
