Chapter Seventeen: A Mighty Spirit, Seeking Truth and Innovation!

When Liang Tao returned, Tang Chong was hunched over the table, eating fried noodles.

The fried noodles were from the third canteen of the school, costing 3.5 yuan per serving. Adding a 5-yuan chicken leg, the meal came to 8.5 yuan.

This was indeed a bit of a luxury.

Tang Chong thought that after such a great humiliation, Liang Tao would certainly try to transfer out of Dorm 307. But to his surprise, not only did Liang Tao not leave, he seemed to be settling in.

Liang Tao ignored Tang Chong's gaze and walked straight to Li Yu, who was also hunched over the table eating fried noodles. He snatched the porcelain bowl from Li Yu's hands and said, "Brother, don't eat this. It's the first day we all meet. We'll be fighting together for several years—let's go to the Yuehua Hotel at the entrance. I'll treat you all. It's a celebration of our first meeting."

Li Yu didn't have the courage to offend Liang Tao like Tang Chong did. He put down his chopsticks and said timidly, "No, thank you. I'm full."

"Full after eating so little? How can a man eat so little?" Liang Tao looked at the half-eaten noodles in the bowl. "Besides, even if you're full, we can still go for a drink and chat. It's just the registration day today. We'll go to the classroom tomorrow, right?"

"I—I still won't go," Li Yu said timidly, as if Liang Tao's invitation was to a dragon's lair.

"You—!" Liang Tao was furious. When had he, the great Liang, ever begged a bumpkin to eat with him? But remembering the plan he had discussed with Secretary Zhao, he suppressed his anger and smiled, "Alright. Let's make it another time."

At that moment, Hua Wuxie walked in, carrying a rabbit cage in one hand and a large bag of daily necessities in the other.

Liang Tao quickly ran over and took the large bag from Hua Wuxie, smiling, "Brother, you went shopping? I was just looking for you."

"Looking for me? What for?" Hua Wuxie put the rabbit cage on his desk, played with it a bit, and then turned to take the large bag from Liang Tao.

"Isn't today the first day we all meet? I thought of treating you all to a meal." Liang Tao smiled. "Li Yu said he's full. How about we two go for a drink? I can tell by your build that you can hold your liquor. What do you say? Let's have a contest?"

"Is that so?" Hua Wuxie thought for a moment and said, "Alright. Wait a moment."

Then he brought the bag to Tang Chong and said, "One for each. Take what you need. Keep the good stuff, and leave the bad for me."

"——" Liang Tao's face turned green.

He had wanted to take the rabbit cage from Hua Wuxie, but thought it would be too insincere. So he helped with the bag instead.

He didn't expect the bag to contain Tang Chong's things—poor his red, sore palms.

"How much? I'll pay you." Tang Chong put down his chopsticks and reached for his wallet.

"We'll settle it later. I'm going to have a drink with LV—this brother." Hua Wuxie said with a smile.

Seeing that Hua Wuxie was still willing to accept his invitation, Liang Tao's mood improved.

As long as he went out with him, treated him to good food and drinks, he wouldn't worry about Hua Wuxie not being on his side.

"Alright." Tang Chong put his wallet back in his pocket.

Hua Wuxie and Liang Tao left, and Tang Chong finished his soup in one gulp, then stood up to wash the bowl in the bathroom.

Li Yu watched Tang Chong's figure thoughtfully.

After washing the bowl, Tang Chong opened his canvas bag and took out an iPhone.

He turned on the phone, and there was only one message: "How are you doing at school?"

The sender was Bai Su. Only she would care enough to send such a greeting.

He placed the phone on his bedside table and then took out a high-end 15-inch MacBook Pro from the canvas bag.

The phone and computer were purchased by Bai Su. She knew Tang Chong could drive and had even wanted to take him to pick out a car for convenience, but he refused—saying they should keep a low profile. How could he keep a low profile if he drove to school?

However, Tang Chong didn't refuse the phone and computer. Many students used them, so he wouldn't stand out too much.

The installation staff had loaded several games onto the computer. He casually opened DOTA and played two rounds, losing both.

"Can I—play a round?" Li Yu, lying on the upper bunk, stared at Tang Chong's computer with shining eyes and asked softly.

"Sure." Tang Chong got up from his seat. "You play. I'll rest for a while."

Li Yu jumped down from the bed and almost pounced to the computer.

"So he's a gaming enthusiast," Tang Chong thought.

——

When Tang Chong woke up, Liang Tao and Hua Ming had already returned. Hua Wuxie, being large, snored loudly.

His snores were heavy with the smell of alcohol, indicating they had a good time drinking at noon.

Li Yu was still playing on the computer, wearing headphones, probably to avoid disturbing Tang Chong.

Tang Chong walked behind him and realized he was a gaming prodigy. Where Tang Chong had repeatedly failed, Li Yu won with ease, leaving no room for the opponents to fight back.

Li Yu felt someone behind him, turned around, and saw Tang Chong. He quickly took off his headphones and said, blushing, "Sorry, I—I forgot the time. I'll turn it off now."

"It's fine. You can keep playing." Tang Chong patted his shoulder and smiled.

Li Yu checked the time and said, "No, I won't play anymore."

The dorm door opened, and a young man in a white shirt walked in, looking at Tang Chong and Li Yu and asking, "Are you both new students in the Psychology Department?"

"Yes," Tang Chong nodded.

"I'm your counselor, Li Qiang." The man smiled. "Is everyone in your dorm here?"

He glanced at the roster in his hand and said, "Tang Chong, Hua Ming, Li Yu, Liang Shan—yes, everyone is here. Oh, there are still two sleeping. From the smell, you didn't drink lightly at noon, did you?"

Tang Chong smiled and said, "Teacher Li, please sit down."

"No, I won't sit." Li Qiang waved his hand. "I'm here to inform you that you have a meeting at 3 PM in Room 601 of the Second Teaching Building. It's an hour away, so when you leave, take those two drunks with you."

"Alright. I'll let them know." Tang Chong said.

Li Qiang looked at Tang Chong and said, "Alright. Get ready, and I'll inform the others."

At 2:50 PM, when Tang Chong and Li Yu arrived at the classroom, they found it already filled with many people.

This was a general gathering for all new psychology students, not a separate class meeting.

Of course, Tang Chong and the others hadn't been assigned to classes yet.

High school and university were different. In high school, students preferred the front rows to see the blackboard and hear the teacher clearly. In university, students preferred the back rows, where they could nap, read novels, or even flirt with girlfriends. Those who arrived early took the back rows, leaving the front rows for latecomers.

When Tang Chong and Li Yu arrived, the back rows of the lecture hall were already full, so they found seats in the front, near the wall.

Looking around, they noticed that out of about a hundred people, only about twenty were girls, making the male-to-female ratio an astonishing five to one.

With so many wolves and so little meat, there would inevitably be fierce competition.

A few minutes later, Hua Ming and Liang Tao arrived. Both had showered and looked more spirited.

Hua Ming walked straight to the back row and sat down, while Liang Tao, despite his reluctance, didn't want to be alone and sat next to Hua Ming.

After Liang Tao sat down, Tang Chong noticed that the girls in the class started to glance at them, either intentionally or unintentionally.

Tang Chong had to admit that, even in his "nerdy" disguise, Liang Tao was the most handsome man in the psychology department—a short, handsome man.

Liang Tao also realized this and straightened his back, feeling much better after the blow he had suffered at noon.

At 3 PM, a short old man walked into the classroom and went up to the podium.

He was short but walked quickly. By the time he reached the podium, the teachers following him had just entered the door.

He had sharp eyes and quickly scanned the room, saying in a deep voice, "I am the Dean of the Psychology College, Jiao Yuheng. Welcome to the Psychology Department, to the unpredictable world of the mind."

"I have no doubt about your love for psychology; otherwise, you wouldn't have chosen such a niche major. But before you become my official students, I have a question to test you—does anyone know the school motto of Nan Da?"

School motto?

The students were all confused.

It was the first day of registration, and they were excited and curious. Who would have the time to pay attention to such trivial things?

They whispered to each other, but no one could answer.

"Does no one know?" Jiao Yuheng's eyes scanned the room again, and he asked.

"——" Still no one answered.

"Not a single one? If that's the case, I'm disappointed in the overall quality of this year's freshmen. Last year, two freshmen answered my question."

"Qi you haoran, qiu shi tuoxin." Someone answered.

Jiao Yuheng's gaze shifted to the corner and asked, "What's your name?"

"Tang Chong."
