Chapter 23, Extortion!

"I want to be a person like him."

Even after Tang Chong left, Jiao Yuheng was still thinking about the expression on his face when he said those words.

"He must love his father very much," Jiao Yuheng thought to himself. "He's a filial child."

Filial people generally aren't that bad.

The door to the lounge was pushed open, and Jiao Nanxin, wearing a tank top, walked out, munching on a clean, large red apple. She said, "Grandpa, is he Tang Chong?"

"Yes. What do you think?" Jiao Yuheng replied with a smile. In front of his granddaughter, he was a completely different person compared to how he acted with others. In front of others, he always had a stern face, walked quickly and urgently, giving off an impression of strictness and dominance. But when he saw his precious granddaughter, his eyes and eyebrows were full of affection and smiles.

"Not bad. Quite interesting," Jiao Nanxin said.

"Wow. I rarely hear our Nanxin praise someone. Today, you used two adjectives, 'not bad' and 'quite interesting,' to describe someone. That's really rare," Jiao Yuheng teased.

Jiao Nanxin showed no sign of shyness, grinning and saying, "He just became your student and came to ask for help. I've never seen a student like that before."

"Not just you, but me too," Jiao Yuheng sighed. "In the past, every student I took in was always well-behaved in front of me. They only knew how to flatter me, and none of them had the nerve to come and ask for help."

"He knew it would make people unhappy, but he still came. And he's not even asking for himself, which makes it even more interesting," Jiao Nanxin said with a chuckle. "Grandpa, I heard he didn't even want to be your student. Isn't that particularly infuriating and a big blow?"

"Indeed, it is a bit," Jiao Yuheng admitted. "But this kid, since we're teacher and student, I'll help him this time."

"What? Grandpa, weren't you going to expel him?" Jiao Nanxin teased.

"Brat," Jiao Yuheng scolded with a smile. "Go see your grandma. If she finds out you've been here for so long without seeing her, she'll skin you alive."

"Okay, I'll go right away," Jiao Nanxin said. She quickly finished the apple and threw the core into the trash can from a distance. Then she ran back into the lounge, put on her plaid shirt, and walked out with her backpack. "Grandpa, I won't tell Grandma that I saw women's underwear in your lounge."

"You brat," Jiao Yuheng said, jumping up in anger. This brat, from a young age, had no sense of propriety and dared to make any joke.

But he really liked her personality.

Even after Jiao Nanxin had left for half an hour, Jiao Yuheng was still sitting in his office, smiling foolishly.

When Tang Chong rushed back to the hospital, the corridor was already in chaos.

"What kind of student are you? Is this how a student behaves? On the first day of school, you fight and injure a teacher. You're not a student, you're a thug."

"I'm telling you, if anything happens to our Old Zhang, I won't let it go. You won't be able to stay at Nan Da; you'll be in the police station."

"Am I not angry? How can I not be angry? Li Qiang, if someone broke your head, wouldn't your wife be angry?"

"Look at him, so arrogant, even smoking."

In the corridor, a flamboyantly dressed woman was cursing loudly. She occasionally lunged at Hua Wuxie, trying to give him a lesson. Fortunately, Li Qiang was in the middle, constantly trying to persuade her, blocking her again and again.

From her words, it could be guessed that she was the family member of the teacher, Zhang, who was accidentally injured by Hua Wuxie.

Hua Wuxie stood by the window in the corridor, holding a lit cigarette. His expression was calm and gloomy, and it was unclear what he was thinking.

Liang Tao and Li Yu stood on either side of him, looking alert, ready to block the woman if Li Qiang couldn't stop her.

The school security department had also arrived. When the woman was making a scene, several people stood awkwardly to the side.

They all knew her identity, so who dared to come and calm her down?

"Who is the family of Zhang Haiyang?" a doctor called out from the examination room.

"I am, I am," the woman quickly ran over. "I am Zhang Haiyang's wife."

"The examination results are out. As you requested, we performed a brain scan. There is no internal damage, just some external injuries," the doctor said, handing over a stack of test results.

"Thank you, doctor," the woman said gratefully. "Doctor, did you only check the head? Did you check the rest of the body?"

"He only injured his head," the doctor said, looking puzzled.

"That's not certain. Even though it looks like a head injury, what if there are other problems in the body?" the woman said. "Doctor, give Old Zhang a full body check. Make sure it's thorough. And use the best medicine. Don't skimp."

"Since you have such requirements," the doctor smiled. "We will do our best to arrange it."

They liked such family members of patients. They were very understanding and supportive of the hospital's work.

Tang Chong knew that this woman was preparing to extort Hua Ming.

This was a typical Chinese way of dealing with things. If you accidentally scratched someone's leg with your bicycle, the family would also demand a full body check.

"Director Zheng," the woman called out.

"Ah, Director Huang," the school security department director, Zheng Chengfeng, ran over to her. "Director Huang, what do you need?"

The woman's name was Huang Jie, and she was the deputy director of the office in the Nan Da principal's office. So, Director Zheng had to maintain a respectful attitude in front of her. Who didn't know that Zhang Haiyang's uncle was the vice principal of the school?

"Take them back to the school and interrogate them. Don't release them until we know the situation with Old Zhang," Huang Jie said.

"Director Huang," Li Qiang came over to persuade her. "Is that appropriate? They are students, and they have military training tomorrow. Isn't it inappropriate to detain them?"

"Li Qiang, are you out of your mind?" Huang Jie pointed at Li Qiang's face and scolded him. "Is it appropriate for students to hit a teacher with a beer bottle, but not for the school security department to interrogate them? Tell me, what kind of twisted logic is that? Li Qiang, they are your students, but I'm not your superior or colleague? Are you being too biased?"

Being scolded in front of so many people, Li Qiang felt very uncomfortable.

But he was Hua Ming's counselor, and he had to take responsibility for this matter.

Li Qiang smiled and said in a flattering tone, "Director Huang, that's not what I meant. My point is, let the student wait here. Once the results of Zhang's examination are out, we can see what Zhang thinks. We can handle it accordingly and resolve the matter that day. That way, you won't have to keep getting upset over this, right?"

Huang Jie's expression improved. She glared at Hua Ming and said, "Even if the results are out, Old Zhang needs to rest in the hospital for two days. Who knows if there will be any aftereffects? Should they wait here for two days? Do as I say, take them to the security department. Wait until Old Zhang is discharged before discussing other matters. Also, how did such a student get admitted? My suggestion is to firmly expel such a troublemaker from Nan Da. We can't let one rat spoil a whole pot of soup."

"Director Huang—"

"Li Qiang, if you don't want to be fired, shut up," Huang Jie shouted angrily.

With Huang Jie being so domineering, Li Qiang didn't know what else to say.

If he continued, he might really be expelled from Nan Da.

Tang Chong originally wanted to explain to Zhang's family, apologize, and say a few good words. But seeing her attitude, he knew it would be futile and would only result in a scolding.

So, he walked straight to Hua Ming, took the cigarette from his hand, and extinguished it, saying, "Even if you feel wronged, you don't need to use this method to vent."

"Damn. They're too overbearing," Hua Ming gritted his teeth. "I'll go with them to the security department and see what they can do to me. I'm afraid that once they lock me up, it won't be easy to get me out."

"Don't be angry," Tang Chong was worried that Hua Ming was speaking out of anger. "Don't worry. Nothing will happen."

"Did you go to someone for help?" Hua Ming's eyes lit up, and he asked.

"Yes. I went to Dean Jiao," Tang Chong said. "We are all students of the psychology department, and he should be informed about such matters."

"You— You fool. Do you know that if you go to him for help now, he will have a bad impression of you? Do you understand human relations?" Hua Ming said, getting agitated.

"It's fine," Tang Chong smiled. "Dean Jiao is a good person."

PS: I said it before, I don't care about the people who don't care about me. I only care if the people I care about are supporting me. Those who curse me, keep it up. Those who support me, crush them.
