Knock knock
The sound of knocking on the door echoed.
"Come in," the woman, who was reviewing a document, replied without lifting her head.
The door was silently pushed open, and a young girl with a slim figure and a delicate face, dressed in a black business suit, walked in.
She stopped three meters away from the large, somewhat intimidating desk and said, "Mr. Tang is in trouble."
"Hmm?" The woman put down her pen, her beautiful eyebrows furrowing.
Just this simple action made people want to reach out and smooth her frown.
She knew that if it were just a minor issue, Wenjing would not have specially reported it to her.
Since she had pushed open the door to her office, it meant that this was a matter she found difficult to decide on.
"Just received news that Mr. Tang was accompanying a friend to visit Yvnü Peak and was attacked at the summit of Tianyi Temple," Wenjing reported.
"Where is he?" The woman interrupted Wenjing's account, getting straight to the point.
She was always a patient person, but when it came to matters involving him, she was always particularly anxious, unwilling to wait even a second.
"He killed the assassin, then called the police. Now, he is being held at the Yvnü Peak police station," the girl named Wenjing reported expressionlessly.
The woman pushed back her chair and stood up. Her white blouse was tucked into black, form-fitting trousers, which were held up by the curve of her hips and pelvis without a belt.
Her hair was tied up, revealing a snow-white neck. Her sleeves were rolled up, giving her a neat and tidy appearance.
She wore no dazzling jewelry, yet everyone who saw her thought she was the most dazzling woman in the world.
"Did he call the police himself?"
"Yes."
"He is asking for my help," the woman said with a smile. "Even though it's in this way, I am still very happy. To him, I am still his family, not just a stranger."
Wenjing remained silent.
This was her family matter, and she had no right to comment.
"Three tasks," the woman suddenly turned around and quickly assigned the work: "First, call Guo Hailong. He will understand my meaning. Second, find out the identity of the assassin and his mastermind."
She paused slightly, then said resolutely: "Third, kill them all."
"Yes," Wenjing stood straight, her face unchanged.
She knew that the woman was angry.
For a long time, she had not shown such strong emotions. She had always been like a still pond, calm and silent.
"Go," the woman waved her hand. "Go and pick him up personally. Don't let him suffer."
Wenjing did not leave.
"Is there anything you don't understand?" the woman asked.
"Why don't you go?" Wenjing asked. "This is the best opportunity to mend things."
"He chose to call the police rather than call Bai Su, which shows he doesn't want to see me," the woman said with a gentle laugh. "In this world, only children would have such a tantrum with their parents. And only parents can tolerate everything about their children. I owe him too much, so I will do as he wishes."
"I understand," Wenjing finally left.
The woman walked to the large floor-to-ceiling window and looked out at the gray sky, lost in thought.
"I have overstepped the bounds after all."
Click
The iron door was pushed open, and a black-faced police officer entered with two officers.
He held a cigarette in his mouth, pulled a chair, and sat in front of Tang Chong, smiling and said, "Come, let's record your statement again."
"Okay," Tang Chong said.
"Name."
"Tang Chong."
"Gender."
"Male."
"Age."
The black-faced police officer suddenly became very patient, asking all the questions he had asked before in detail, then listened to Tang Chong repeat the story of what happened at the summit of Yvnü Peak.
"Wait," the black-faced police officer interrupted Tang Chong, saying, "You said the assassin attacked you first?"
"Yes," Tang Chong nodded.
"On what basis do you think the Taoist was an assassin? Maybe he was just joking with you?" the black-faced police officer said.
"..." This question was so stupid that it made Tang Chong feel a sense of danger.
He was not afraid of formal questioning; he was afraid of these people finding trouble and using torture.
"He had a knife and aimed at my vital points. His skills were very good, and I couldn't fight him. At that moment, I had to fight for my life," Tang Chong answered.
"Couldn't fight him?" the black-faced police officer sneered. "You say you couldn't fight him, but his eyes were stabbed out by the knife, and you were fine. He was thrown off the summit of Yvnü Peak, and you sat on top of the mountain, hugging a beauty and calling the police. Is this called not being able to fight?"
"Also, you say he stabbed you with the knife, but the knife has both of your fingerprints on it, and the outermost fingerprint is yours. Why wasn't it you who wielded the knife to commit the crime?"
"Why would I kill a Taoist? What motive do I have?" Tang Chong countered. "This matter is simple. Just investigate the Taoist's identity. I suspect he is a professional assassin. Also, you are local police. You should be familiar with the Taoists at Tianyi Temple. Is he one of them?"
Slap
The black-faced police officer slapped the table.
"How to solve the case is our business. Do you need to teach me? Who do you think you are?"
"I didn't mean to teach you anything. Just a friendly reminder. I don't want you to take the wrong path," Tang Chong's words carried a hint of threat.
The black-faced police officer laughed loudly.
He looked at Tang Chong with a sinister expression and said, "Kid, I have to say, you have guts. I almost believed you. You must want to tell me that you have a powerful background, right? You must want to warn me not to touch you, right?"
"I do have a powerful background," Tang Chong nodded seriously. "You'd better not touch me."
"Ha ha ha..."
The black-faced police officer and the two officers behind him laughed loudly, almost unable to catch their breath.
"Kid, you're really funny," the black-faced police officer pointed at Tang Chong. "The girl who was with you on the mountain is Qiu Hongtu's daughter, you know that, right?"
"I know Qiu Hongtu, but I didn't know Qiu Yihan was his daughter," Tang Chong said.
"That's not important," the black-faced police officer waved his hand. "What you need to know is that Qiu Yihan has been taken away by her family, and they say they don't know you."
"She's already gone?" Tang Chong was taken aback. Then he continued, "That's good. She must have been scared."
"Oh, still pretending to be a prince in love," the black-faced police officer sneered. He believed Tang Chong was a speculator trying to climb the social ladder. "Now that the Qiu family's daughter has been taken away, what do you rely on?"
"I'm talking about my background, not Qiu Yihan's," Tang Chong corrected. "Besides, I was just defending myself. You should handle it fairly. Why do I need to rely on anything?"
Bang
The black-faced police officer kicked the table, which crashed toward Tang Chong.
Tang Chong's hands were cuffed to the chair, which was made of iron and welded to the ground.
He couldn't escape, so he leaned backward.
Slam
The table hit the iron chair, making a loud noise.
"Your skills are pretty good," the black-faced police officer praised. "But I want to see how long you can dodge."
He waved his hand and said to the two officers behind him, "Serve him."
"Serve him," Tang Chong's eyes narrowed.
The police station's "serving" and the prison's "ordering" were the same in nature, both euphemisms for violent acts.
Even the types of "dishes" were similar, just with different names.
In the past, he had "ordered" for others, but he never thought he would be "served" today.
"If I weren't so arrogant, you would have started serving me long ago," Tang Chong said coldly. "I know these procedures better than you."
He knew that the police also "bully the weak and fear the strong."
The tougher you are, the more they will be cautious. If you seem weak, they might think you are easy to bully and might start beating you up right away, then force you to confess.
"Drag him down," the black-faced police officer pointed at Tang Chong, who was standing on the chair.
The two male officers immediately went out and pounced on Tang Chong from both sides.
Tang Chong kicked out, and the two officers quickly retreated.
"Damn, useless," the black-faced police officer cursed.
Just as he was about to rush forward, a knock came from the door.
"Kid, if you don't confess, wait and see what I do to you when I come back," he pointed at Tang Chong, then opened the door and went out.
He soon returned with a complicated expression.
"What did this kid do to get into such trouble?"
He threw the cigarette butt on the ground and stomped on it hard.
Then, he pulled a police baton from the corner and said, "You two, hold him down. I'll give him a heavy dish."
Breaking a leg, this dish was indeed heavy.
The two officers, following the order, pounced on Tang Chong from both sides again.
Tang Chong kicked the one on the left, sending him flying.
The other one hugged his waist from behind and shouted, "Captain, quickly—"
Crack
Tang Chong's head slammed backward, and he felt a heavy blow, falling to the ground with stars in his eyes.
The black-faced police officer roared and raised the baton to strike Tang Chong.
Bang
The door was kicked open.
Li Bota looked at the scene in horror and shouted, "Jiang Kai, stop it!"
