"Please, take care of me."
Some of the expressions are rather harsh.
Startled by the nostalgic smell of the room, she jumped up from the bed.
The furniture, uniformly white, was both lovely and of high quality. On the cabinet, there were imported glass animals, and through the window, polished without a single smudge, the elm tree in the garden could be seen.
"…Why am I in my old room? Has the pathogen finally infiltrated my brain? Is this an illusion?"
Elizabeth scratched her face, surprised by the smooth, softness of her cheeks. There was no decaying nose, no rash.
She immediately stood in front of the mirror.
"What is this? A child…"
She looked to be about five years old.
Straight, silver hair that reached her waist, large amethyst eyes, porcelain-like skin with rosy cheeks.
She couldn't grasp the situation at all.
Elizabeth was 23 and had been making a living as a streetwalker. As her illness progressed and she could no longer take clients, she finally collapsed on the street last night.
"What's going on? I thought I could finally die…"
Elizabeth felt her strength drain from her body, and she sat down on the bed.
She was dazed for a while, but then a maid knocked on the door and entered the room.
"Miss, have you woken up? If you sleep too much during the day, you won't be able to sleep at night, so let's get up now."
The maid had her brown hair tied up in a low bun, a round face with lovely brown eyes and freckles on her nose.
It was a younger Mary than the last time she saw her.
Seeing Mary, Elizabeth felt a deep pain in her chest. Mary was supposed to marry the cook of the estate and become a happy bride.
I had multiple men assault this kind and gentle maid, not only physically but also mentally.
All because she broke my favorite white porcelain cup.
Of course, I had already punished her when she broke it. I slapped her face and demoted her to a menial job, but it didn't satisfy me.
I just couldn't forgive her.
Later, she hanged herself. When Elizabeth received the report, she finally felt a sense of relief.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Mary."
"Miss, what's wrong? Did you have a scary dream?"
Mary was surprised by Elizabeth's crying and apologies, and gently wiped her tears with a handkerchief, but the tears wouldn't stop. Mary held Elizabeth until she calmed down.
Normally, such an action by a mere maid towards her mistress would be disrespectful, but she couldn't help but reach out to the unusually crying Elizabeth.
After being exiled, Elizabeth was treated like a worm. She trembled in Mary's embrace, feeling the warmth and kindness, and her heart was torn by her own sins.
I was incredibly foolish.
The atrocities I committed against many people. When my sins were revealed, I was sent to a northern convent.
However, during the transfer to the convent, I was kidnapped by people sent by the families and lovers of my victims.
One of my eyes was gouged out, my face and body were branded with irons, my hair was pulled out, and I was toyed with by the men. Still, I had to survive.
Even though I wanted to die, I couldn't. I was cursed so that I couldn't hurt myself or others. I was given a living hell.
Every day, I sold my body for cheap money and took clients in a cheap boarding house. The room where Elizabeth slept and woke up was small, poorly lit, and smelled of staleness and mold.
She spent five years there.
She almost went mad, but for some reason, she didn't. Perhaps this was also part of the curse.
Until she fell into this situation, she didn't realize her sins. She suffered more from the weight of her sins than from the physical pain.
She doesn't know why she has returned to the past.
However, if she is given the chance, she wants to become a decent person this time.
In any case, Elizabeth, though confused, decided to accept this situation.
