Chen Yichen grabbed Li Yuan’s wrist and strode in.
Tang Yujiao looked at the backs of the two people and gently asked Chen Yibo, who was standing next to her, “Master Bo, is your elder brother angry?”
Chen Yibo smiled lovingly at Tang Yujiao, “Fool, just because you were to marry him, can he get angry? Even if he’s angry, what can he do? Now you’re mine.”
Tang Yujiao became embarrassed hearing his words, “Master Bo, what nonsense are you talking about? Of course, I am yours. All this life, I’ll only be yours.”
When Chen Yichen and Li Yuan walked into the door, everyone’s gaze stayed fixed on them. Those eyes were malicious, like poisonous snakes disguised in human skins, wanting to spit out venomous words. They looked at them with cold and vicious eyes.
But when Chen Yibo and Tang Yujiao entered, their gazes changed immediately, just like the spring after the winter snow, when the snow melts and only spring is left.
“Since they are all here, let’s talk about the issue of sending the brides into the wrong bridal chamber.” Marquis Jing’an looked at the two new couples. “What do you think?”
Even though Tang Yujiao and Li Yuan were the brides, it was not their turn to speak. Marquis Jing’an did not ask for their opinions regarding this. A woman was only an accessory, and her fate lied only in the hands of a man. Their life and death depended on the interests of Chen Yichen and Chen Yibo.
“Eldest brother, no one expected that such a blunder would happen. But the matter is over now and we have no other choice. For the sake of our in-law’s face, it would be better to mediate and reach a compromise. From this matter, it can be seen that our marriage is already destined by the heavens. It would be better to comply with God’s will.” Chen Yibo said.
Chen Yichen sneered, “Whether it is destined or not, I will soon find out. If I do get to know that someone dared to deceive me, I will definitely return the favor with life much worse than death.”
“You scoundrel, do you think you can spew out whatever nonsense you want? What life worse than death?” Marquis Jing’an stared at Chen Yichen and said, “Isn’t the young miss of the Ruan family more worthy of you?”
Chen Yichen looked at Li Yuan beside him.
Li Yuan pouted, her eyes were full of resentment.
Seeing this, his gaze softened. He grabbed her hand and held her in his arms. “This is my woman, and my woman would be naturally protected by me. I just came here to inform you all that from today onwards, if anyone dares to provoke my woman, I would throw them into the snake pit that I haven’t used for a long time. My woman is weak, so don’t you dare look for her to serve you tea every day. She didn’t marry this General to serve others. I would rather have her save her energy and raise her body so that she can give birth to a son for me.”
“You! You unfilial son! As she’s married into the Chen family, shouldn’t she pay her respects to her mother-in-law?” Marquis Jing’An bellowed.
“The emperor himself has personally praised my loyalty and filial piety and Lord is saying that I am not filial. Are you trying to say that the emperor’s golden mouth and pearly words1 are wrong?” Chen Yichen’s mouth slightly curled up.
“You! You! Get out of my sight. Benhou2 doesn’t want to see you.” Marquis Jing’An grabbed the teacup next to him and ruthlessly hurled it towards him.
Chen Yichen waved his sleeves and the teacup bounced off. It hit a pillar next to him and immediately broke into several pieces.
“Ah!” Tang Yujiao exclaimed.
Chen Yibo quickly hugged her into his arms and asked, “Did you get hurt?”
At that moment, Chen Yichen walked out of the door with Li Yuan in his arms. What serving tea? There was no need at all. Marquis Jing’An was so angry that he blew his nose and glared at his departing back. But he couldn’t do anything about it.
Li Yuan looked at the man beside her.
His whole body exuded a strong aura of darkness as if he had just crawled out of the Hall of Darkness3. But when he turned his head to look at her, his expression softened at once.
“Will it be really okay if we don’t serve the tea to the elders?” Li Yuan asked.
“Do you want to kneel down and please those people?” Chen Yichen grumbled, expressing his displeasure.
Li Yuan quickly shook her head.“No, I’m just worried that others will gossip. It will not be good for your reputation.”
“Do you think this General cares?” Chen Yichen pinched her delicate cheek. “If they come to you, just tell them that you are unwell. Don’t bother with them. Be careful and don’t get fooled by them. If you get hurt in the future, don’t blame me for not warning you.”
“I will listen to what my husband says. I will only obey my husband.”
