“I’m sorry.”

The film emperor regretted it. He shouldn’t have brought it up.

Noticing the psychiatrist’s rapidly reddening eyes, his heart tightened uncomfortably.

After coming down from the mountain, the film emperor sent him home. Both of them did not say a single word throughout.

When the psychiatrist got off the car, the film emperor hugged him and said, “If you feel down, you can look for me to keep you company, just like how you used to do the same for me in the past.”

The psychiatrist barely managed to muster up a smile. “Thank you. But I’m a professional psychiatrist, I’ll adjust myself.”

30.

It was the first time the film emperor set his eyes on someone.

He scrolled through the psychiatrist’s WeChat moments after getting home, but he had set it to ‘visible for six months’ only. And in this past six months, he didn’t post anything at all.

The film emperor closed his eyes helplessly. He admitted it, the fact that he had other intentions towards the psychiatrist.

He wanted to know more about the psychiatrist, help him move on from his pain. And if he could, he wanted the psychiatrist to come to like him too.

31.

The film emperor began to look for the psychiatrist frequently. He would ask him out to have dinners together or on a quick stroll.

As long as the psychiatrist wasn’t extremely busy, he would come out to meet him.

The film emperor went over to his house again over the weekend and found him watching a movie on his computer.

It was a movie from around 7 to 8 years ago. The film emperor recognized it from one look, since there was a high school student in it, who was played by him when he was in university.

The film emperor was surprised, “Why are you watching this?”

The psychiatrist looked up at him and asked with a smile, “Do you want to watch it together?”

The film emperor wanted to reject him inwardly since that was his first work that got screened. With a student buzzcut and fairly dark skin, it was quite difficult to look at.

32.

But he couldn’t bear to refuse the psychiatrist either so he sat down beside him instead.

The film emperor’s acting at that time was still quite unrefined. Moreover, the character he played was a rebellious teenager so there was inevitably an air of silliness.

The film emperor covered his eyes in embarrassment, “My acting was so awful.”

""

“I think it’s pretty good.” The psychiatrist’s eyes were fixated on the screen, not willing to look away for even a second. “It really resembled you when you were 16.”

The film emperor froze a little, but immediately reacted with a nod, “Maybe it does.”

33.

The film emperor felt that the distance between him and the psychiatrist was closing in little by little. He was satisfied about that fact.

The annual film festival kicked off and the film emperor’s name was listed on the big screen as one of the candidates.

The guest of honor begun his speech just as the music rung.

“Three years ago, he retired from the film industry due to a car accident. Three years later, he made a comeback and showed us his extraordinary acting skills and strength with his first film. Let us congratulate Liang Rong!”

The actor cladded in a suit went up to the stage with long strides. While holding the trophy in his hands and giving his thanks, he added an extra sentence at the end of the script he had rehearsed many times.

“I would like to thank my psychiatrist, Song Ning, who accompanied me through the most difficult three years of my life.”

34.

After the award ceremony came the celebration party. The film emperor was toasted one after another and received flowers as well.

He was in a really good mood today and did not refuse anyone who came. When the party ended, he could hardly walk anymore.

""

His assistant helped him move his stuffs into the car and ordered the driver to take him home.

However, the film emperor who was lying in the backseat suddenly made a sound and asked the driver to change the direction suddenly.

35.

The film emperor supported himself on the doorframe as he rang the doorbell to the psychiatrist’s house.

It took a while for the psychiatrist to answer the door and he was shocked to see who the visitor was.

“Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be celebrating?”

As if he was offering a treasure, the film emperor took out a handful of hydrangeas from behind him and smiled foolishly at the psychiatrist, “For you.”

In the next seconds, without any warning, tears rolled down the psychiatrist’s eyes.

The film emperor immediately sobered up, asking anxiously, “What’s wrong? Do you not like it?”

The psychiatrist shook his head but nodded right after, “I like it. I really like it.”

The film emperor’s heart instantly melted into a puddle.

He could no longer think straight in that moment, throwing the flowers on the ground, cupped the psychiatrist’s face and kissed him.
