Chapter 2100: Too Long Asleep

Because they were sedated, it didn’t take long to move the affected Oracles to the portal, and Eryman sighed as he realized they had tried to sneak a fake Oracle in with the group.
"That’s not going to work, even I can tell that he’s not an Oracle," he warned the clergy.
They looked a bit sheepish, but they did not actually regret their attempt to embed someone near this new ally of the Legend. Nobody within the church knew what he was up to, only that he wasn’t willing to join in the battles and make his authority known.
And now, he had taken half his personal guard and gone to the edge of the continent, visiting some unknown Guild without any sort of explanation for his actions.
His presence had alerted the clergy that were in town for the Dungeon, and they had reported back immediately, as they were also curious what he was doing here. But because he was a Legend, none of them dared to ask him directly.
If they were Supreme Ranked like the Archbishop, sure. But they were mostly lower clergy who were travelling to spread the faith and to build their power.
That was the sort that joined adventuring groups, and the ones that wanted to stay in the Darklight Host for longer times. There was a lot to be gained here, more than they were likely to find just by travelling randomly based on rumours of benefits.
Eventually, they would have to.
The rarest resources didn’t appear within towns or dungeons, they had to go look for them in the wild. But for now, they could stock up on gear, potions, and the accessible resources that they couldn’t afford or obtain before.
The spectators watched as the Oracles were carried out to the portal, still sleeping. And that caused many more questions than they had to start with.
Were those people dead?
What happened to them?
Why and where were they being moved?
But at the Darklight Host side, the questions were much simpler. All that they needed to do was put everyone somewhere comfortable, and then give them a healing and cleansing spell to wear through the sedation.
Once that was done, all the Oracles would wake up, an they could explain what was going on, and where they were.
The World Dragon Church wasn’t holding them by force, they could go back home if they wanted. But so far nobody who needed their services had declined the offer.
The hope that the process would actually work was enough that it kept them going, and they would do their best to adapt to the changed conditions that left them in the care of the World Dragon’s clergy.
The first of the Oracles woke up within seconds of being on the bed, and found himself looking up at the face of Eryman, who had come over to make sure that all was going well.
"Your Eminence? Was there something you needed? I can help you in a moment, once my mind clears."
Eryman shook his head. "No, I wanted to inform you that you’ve been transferred. The World Dragon Church has a treatment program that will reduce the severity of your visions, and allow you to function without sedation.
So, you will be stationed here for the foreseeable future.
Now, it’s not a bad posting, this city is operated by the Darklight Host. I believe that you’re familiar with them?"
The Oracle nodded. "They were active on the last planet that I was stationed on, before I came here, hoping to escape the war visions."
Karl frowned. He hadn’t thought about that. If you were on a world actively involved in the Divinity Wars, an Oracle would get constant battle visions, and they would have to try to adapt them, to the constantly changing battle plans as every other group’s Oracles tried to counter their actions.
No wonder they all ended up traumatized, especially against the Darklight Host.
"That saves a lot of explanation. They upgraded this temple to dampen visions, and they’ve got a Chaos Badger on their roster, should you need more effort put into disrupting your visions."
The Oracle shuddered at some memory of interacting with badgers, then smiled.
"Well, at least this one probably isn’t trying to kill me. That’s an improvement. And is that an Ancient? I swear that’s an ancient, a young one, at that."
Karl waved a greeting. "Close, but not quite. I am Karl, Avatar of the World Dragon. While I’m not an Ancient, my Class is that of an Ancient Pet Sitter. So, there is likely some aura overlap with the actual ancients."
The Oracle nodded slowly. As far as he knew, only Ancients could get their classes. So, while he didn’t sense any deception from Karl, it was likely that the human appearance in front of him was entirely fake.
Likely a transformation skill that he would see through the first time that he had a vision about the city.
"How many others will be coming?" The Oracle asked, changing the topic.
"Six more from the hospital, but there are quite a few here already. Most not particularly powerful, but I have been assured that even your Supreme Rank will not be too much of an issue for the Clergy here," Eryman explained.
"Well, at least we won’t be alone in our beds. My body is already sore just from sitting up. It’s going to take some work to rebuild what was lost."
Karl smiled, and Eryman chuckled as he replied, "Just ask the Branch Leader. He’s got Pill Masters and Divine Alchemists in the Guild, along with his other craftsmen. They can find you a potion or a pill to rebuild atrophied muscles in a matter of minutes.
It will still take some work to get back to full strength, as some of the muscle mass is completely lost, but you shouldn’t have to struggle to move about for long."
Hearing their conversation through Karl’s thoughts, Remi transferred him a {Body Refining Pill}, that the warriors liked to use to boost their base stats. If you weren’t injured, it had a minimal effect at growing new muscles, but it should go a long way to helping the Oracles get mobile.
They might not be at the level they once were, but the pill was more than enough to let them walk freely.
If it didn’t have that much effect, nobody would buy it.
