In the living room, an old man sat there, not on the sofa but in a wheelchair, wearing thick glasses. He was looking out through the floor-to-ceiling window at the scenery outside. His name was Qin Yuanhe, the Chief Financial Officer of Yuan Yue Group, which was the main business of the Qin family and the dominant force in the clothing industry of Yunhai City. In recent years, the group had shown a monopolistic trend and was developing rapidly.
Although Qin Yuanhe shared the same surname as the Qin family, it was just a coincidence, and he had no blood relation to them. His identity was rather mysterious; he was saved by Qin Yan, Qin Shu's father, from a car accident twenty years ago. He never talked about his past and had no desire to return to it. He stayed at Yuan Yue Group, where he had strong financial analysis skills. The group's continuous growth was largely due to his help. Qin Yan always treated him with respect, considering him his right-hand man. Moreover, since he had no family, he stayed with the Qin family.
"Uncle Qin, you're here?" Qin Shu, who had a good relationship with him and considered him an elder, quickly raised his hand to greet him.
Qin Yuanhe turned to look at Qin Shu: "Qin Shu, I really don't know how you do it. The force, angle, and even the degree of the car flips are calculated so accurately, and you come out unscathed every time. It's truly unbelievable!" Since the living room was on a high floor, he had seen Qin Shu's car crash performance at the door.
"Is that so?" Qin Shu smiled helplessly, "But I still can't escape that old man's palm!"
"Who are you calling an old man!" The side door of the living room opened, and Qin Yan walked out, his face dark.
Qin Shu felt a headache, like a frost-bitten eggplant, instantly wilting. He knew a storm was about to come.
Qin Yan always felt a sense of frustration with this son. Qin Shu had a bachelor's degree from MIT and a master's in economics from Harvard, completing his studies at the age of twenty. However, after returning, he loafed around, spending his days outside, completely idle and showing no interest in taking over the family business. He had never even set foot in Yuan Yue Group.
"How could I have such an incompetent son!" Qin Yan was angry, "I gave you the best education and the best conditions, and now I hope you can help me manage the company, but you turn out to be a lazy good-for-nothing. When I die, you will surely squander the Qin family's fortune!" In Qin Yan's eyes, Qin Shu was beyond redemption.
Qin Shu could only lower his head and listen to the lecture. After all, Qin Yan was his father, and he had no choice but to listen.
"Look at Li Yu's son, Li Qi. He is already a board member and handles his work systematically..."
Qin Shu's lips curled in disdain, "Is that considered skill? Isn't it just because his subordinates are flattering him?"
"You still dare to talk back!" Qin Yan slammed the table.
"Okay, okay, okay, I'll listen, I'll listen!" Qin Shu lay on the sofa, adopting a corpse-like posture.
"You..." Qin Yan was at a loss, shouting, "Today, Xiao Ling is coming, and you better behave well. Otherwise, I'll break your legs, and see if you can still run outside!"
Mentioning Xiao Ling, Qin Shu involuntarily shuddered, "Can't we change the woman? Even a sow would be better. I can patiently deal with it, but that tigress is my nemesis!"
"How can you say such things about her?" Qin Yan liked Xiao Ling very much and wanted her to become his daughter-in-law as soon as possible to prevent others from snatching her away. The Xiao family was influential in business, and Xiao Ling was their only daughter. Once the two married, with the combined wealth of the Qin and Xiao families, even if Qin Shu were a wastrel, he would have a life of luxury and comfort. However, Qin Shu seemed to dislike Xiao Ling, which puzzled him, "What's wrong with Xiao Ling? She is beautiful, gentle, and well-mannered, and has been practicing ballet since childhood, making her stand out. Where can you find such a daughter-in-law?"
Qin Shu had a lot of grievances but couldn't express them. Ballet? That was before she was eight, right? And being gentle and well-mannered was just to please Qin Yan and his wife. But Xiao Ling had left a very good impression on Qin Yan and his wife, a typical well-bred lady. The entire Qin family liked her, and no matter how much Qin Shu tried to explain, no one believed that Xiao Ling had a violent side. After a few attempts, Qin Shu had to keep those facts to himself.
At this moment, Aunt Wang came down and said that the lady was calling Qin Yan upstairs. Qin Yan grunted, "You brat, try to behave well this time and get the marriage settled. It will save me a lot of trouble!"
Qin Shu pursed his lips and said nothing.
Qin Yan sighed and went upstairs.
Qin Yuanhe, who had been sitting in his wheelchair, glanced at Qin Shu, "What's wrong? You seem very aggrieved?"
Qin Shu said irritably, "If I tell you that Xiao Ling is a violent maniac, would you believe me?"
Qin Yuanhe shook his head, "No, I wouldn't!"
"Then that's it! Sigh, who can I complain to!"
"Do you really fear Miss Xiao so much?"
"Fear her?" Qin Shu pursed his lips, "Not really. If it came to a fight, I might not win, but I have a thousand other ways to make her submit. It's just that this woman is too much trouble. I kissed her once when we were kids, and she's been纠缠着我 (clinging to me) ever since. If I offend her again, I'll probably never have a moment's peace. Besides, she is a woman, and I have a natural heart for cherishing beauty. I really can't bear to hurt such a pretty girl. I just hope she won't cling to me anymore, and I'll be grateful!"
