Chapter 10

6 min read1,449 words

On July 20th, the first day of the team's training camp, Claudio Ranieri and the coaching staff arrived early at the training ground, waiting for the players to arrive.

Zhuang Mingge brought Karin to the edge of the training ground, wanting to observe the team's first training session.

All the players arrived on time, including the two biggest stars—the German Lothar Matthäus and the Argentine Gabriel Batistuta.

The players first had to undergo a medical examination organized by the team doctor to check their physical condition. This would allow the coaching staff to organize targeted physical training. For players who did not meet the standards, the coaching staff would provide additional training.

If a player had played too much during the summer and had a high fat content, then sorry, you were in trouble. It was said that Coach Ranieri had prepared three times the normal training load for you...

Next, the players and the coaching staff took turns to introduce themselves, and the team's summer training camp officially began.

Zhuang Mingge looked around at the coaches who were constantly urging the players to train. The atmosphere during the training was very harmonious. Matthäus and Batistuta did not act like big brothers and bully the newcomers. He felt a bit redundant here and decided to return to the office to take a break. Karin, however, wanted to stay and watch a bit longer, so Zhuang Mingge left her at the edge of the training ground and went back.

"I hope there won't be any bad news today." On the way back, Zhuang Mingge crossed himself and silently prayed to the Jade Emperor... (By the way, does such a mixed-up prayer really work?)

Unfortunately, Zhuang Mingge's fears were realized. Before the first day was even over, something happened...

Zhuang Mingge received the news that on the first day of the team's summer training camp, Karin had single-handedly taken down Di Biagio, Vieri, and Matthäus!

When Zhuang Mingge heard this news, he was completely stunned.

Karin's fighting ability was strong, a conclusion Zhuang Mingge had drawn from the painful memories of his "predecessor."

But Zhuang Mingge never imagined that Karin was this powerful.

Fortunately, no fans or reporters were allowed to watch the training today.

Otherwise, it would have been a big mess.

Just as Zhuang Mingge was about to go to the "scene of the incident" to ask the parties involved, he saw Karin storming in.

"Karin, what exactly happened?" Zhuang Mingge asked.

"Pfft, a few players wanted to have a 'friendly chat' with me after training, so I gave them a little lesson," Karin said, shaking her head in annoyance as if trying to shake off some dirt. Her ample chest jiggled with her movements.

Due to the hot weather, Karin was wearing a sleeveless shirt and a white short skirt, which looked very attractive. This was extremely appealing to young men like Zhuang Mingge, who had no girlfriend and whose age = actual age.

Zhuang Mingge used great willpower to turn his head away and resist the temptation. To distract himself, he quickly asked Karin about the cause of the "fighting incident." After Karin explained, Zhuang Mingge finally understood what had happened:

Vieri and Di Biagio saw the beautiful Karin on the sidelines during training. These two hormone-driven young men bet on who could have a "friendly and deep conversation" with her after training. When Matthäus heard their bet, he also joined in.

As soon as the training ended, these three idiots approached Karin with smiles. At first, Karin thought they were just fans asking for autographs. As the conversation deepened, she realized they wanted to have a "relationship beyond friendship" with her. As a result, the three men with ulterior motives were naturally beaten up by the highly combative Karin. When other players risked their lives to save the three, they were already bruised all over, and Vieri's right eye was blackened by Karin's punch.

Zhuang Mingge smiled bitterly and calmed down the angry Karin. In his eyes, although Karin was a Westerner, she was not much different from traditional Chinese women in certain aspects, which was why Vieri and the others were beaten up.

What to do about Vieri and the others?

Daring to have thoughts about his woman, of course, they should be locked in a small black room and have their fifth limb broken... cough, just kidding.

Although Western society is indeed very open, and in a certain sense, these three could be considered victims, Zhuang Mingge realized for the first time that he might not have done enough in managing the players' private lives...

He couldn't adopt a paternalistic management style like Ferguson, which was effective before the players became famous but would lead to deteriorating relationships as the players became stars, as in the famous case of Beckham leaving Manchester United. Or he could keep his private life completely underground, but if it was exposed, it would be a big deal, like the recent case with Giggs.

Learning from Karin that Vieri and the others were still in the medical room receiving treatment, Zhuang Mingge left Karin in the office to calm down and went there alone, still thinking about how to handle the situation.

Arriving at the medical room, Zhuang Mingge composed himself, pushed open the door, and walked in. He immediately saw the three unfortunate men lying on the beds, groaning.

"Boss, why are you here?" Vieri and the others, seeing their boss for the first time, ignored their injuries and hurriedly got out of bed.

"I came to see the three scoundrels who had the nerve to flirt with my secretary," Zhuang Mingge casually pulled over a chair and sat next to Vieri's bed, gesturing for the other two to come closer. "You three really have some guts."

"Boss, we..." Matthäus tried to explain, but Zhuang Mingge waved him off.

"Players have high levels of testosterone, and I understand that. You don't need to explain anything to me," Zhuang Mingge said, putting the three at ease. "But I hope you can also manage your private lives well. If you want a woman, find a girlfriend. Don't be so casual. I don't want some of the players to end up like Garrincha when they retire. You should also pass this message on to the others."

Garrincha, nicknamed "The Bird," was known for his exceptional dribbling and speed. He played 60 matches for the Brazilian national team, with an impressive record of 52 wins, 7 draws, and 1 loss. He participated in three World Cups and won two of them. Notably, Garrincha's last match for the national team was his only loss. Additionally, Brazil never lost a game when both Garrincha and Pelé were on the field.

However, after his peak, Garrincha's life became very tragic.

Because Garrincha never trained systematically, had no agent, and rarely read contracts, he drank excessively and never took care of his body. He relied solely on his innate talent to play football.

From 1963 to 1965, he only played 8 matches for Botafogo. His excessive drinking and constant sexual activities almost ruined his career.

Two famous scandals tarnished Garrincha's reputation: In 1959, it was revealed that he had impregnated a Swedish girl during a tour in Sweden. In 1965, he left his wife Marquise and their eight daughters to elope with samba singer Suárez, which completely destroyed his reputation in Brazil.

On January 20, 1983, Garrincha died in a Rio de Janeiro slum due to liver cirrhosis caused by excessive drinking, at the age of 49.

As professional players, Vieri and the others had naturally heard of the tragic fate of the legendary star Garrincha after his retirement. They shuddered and nodded in agreement.

After finishing the serious talk, Zhuang Mingge's tone changed, and he whispered, "Why did you have to provoke that demon, Karin? She's a force even I, your boss, have to avoid. Let me tell you, if you ever encounter her again..." He didn't notice the three men staring awkwardly at his back.

Thinking that the three had been "convinced" by his words, Zhuang Mingge was about to share his "experience" in dealing with Karin, but a pleasant voice from behind made him break out in a cold sweat: "That was well said, Tony. I didn't expect you to come up with so many ways to deal with me."

"Ahhh! Sister Karin, I was wrong!! Please forgive me this time!!" Vieri and the others watched as their boss Zhuang Mingge was dragged out of the medical room by Karin, and they all decided to follow Karin's lead in the future, rather than their unscrupulous boss.
