Chapter 56

"Alright, Fanmo, we'll give you the relevant documents for the City Hunter later," Captain Xu Dahuang said.

"Documents too?" Mo Fan said, somewhat surprised.

"Of course," Fei Shi explained with a smile, "This document comes with quite a few privileges. You are now essentially an enforcement officer of this city!"

"You mean, I have become a glorious city management officer?" Mo Fan said, raising an eyebrow.

"Hahaha, we are the city management officers," Li Wenjie suddenly laughed, and after the laughter subsided, he continued, "The difference is that we, the city management team, don't deal with rule-breaking vendors or petty traders, but with those who break the rules and cause trouble at night!"

City management officers in Bocheng?

Mo Fan couldn't help but smile. This position suited him quite well, giving him a sense of being a superhero like Spider-Man, Flash, or Iron Man, saving the city from its troubles, and he could also add a bit of mystery and even flirt with girls!

Mo Fan quickly adapted to the atmosphere, and the experienced senior brother Fei Shi was already introducing him to the team's situation and their main responsibilities.

"Hey... What? Why didn't you report it earlier?? What kind of international joke is this, those police are useless!" Just as they were chatting, Captain Xu Dahuang roared into the phone.

Li Wenjie, Xiao Ke, Fei Shi, and the others, who were joking with the new member Mo Fan, suddenly became serious, their eyes fixed on their captain Xu Dahuang.

At this moment, Fei Shi frowned and whispered to Mo Fan, who was still a bit puzzled, "I was planning to invite you for a few drinks, but it seems we have work to do as soon as you join. If everything goes as expected, it should be the cafeteria tremor at Mingwen Girls' High School."

"Cafeteria tremor?" Mo Fan's eyes widened.

He had heard of car tremors, water tremors, and field tremors, but this was the first time he heard of a cafeteria tremor. You city people really know how to play!

"Brother, you're too evil... It's not what you think. Every night, the cafeteria of their school experiences mysterious tremors. At first, we thought it was due to some construction nearby, but later, when people were sent to monitor at night, there was no construction team. So, the rumor in the school is that the cafeteria of Mingwen Girls' High School has become a spirit," Fei Shi explained in a low voice.

"You mean Mingwen Girls' High School?" Mo Fan suddenly realized something and asked.

"Yes, a school full of girls, even the teachers... tsk tsk, cough cough!" Fei Shi put on a serious face.

Mo Fan couldn't indulge in his fantasies anymore. Ye Xinya was at that girls' high school. Recalling about two months ago, when he talked to Ye Xinya on the phone, she mentioned that their cafeteria was very scary.

"Alright, before the students return, we will solve this matter immediately!" Captain Xu Dahuang said.

Putting down the phone, Xu Dahuang's face showed no smile.

Li Wenjie, Xiao Ke, Guo Caitang, and Fei Shi all looked at their captain.

"Something happened, another girl has gone missing," Xu Dahuang said in a solemn voice.

Everyone's brows furrowed.

Several months ago, a girl had gone missing from Mingwen Girls' High School. Since the school couldn't confirm whether the girl had disappeared on campus, the police had been handling the case, but after several months, there was still no clue.

This incident had been reported in the news, but people quickly forgot about it. In a city with a population of at least a million, a missing person was not unusual for the police.

Xu Dahuang and his team had visited Mingwen Girls' High School, but the school did not want to make a big deal out of it and did not want the City Hunters to get involved, so the matter was left unresolved. Who knew that half a year later, another girl would go missing, and this time, it was confirmed to be on campus.

The school finally realized there was a serious problem and hurriedly contacted the City Hunter team.

"Captain, for a missing person, shouldn't we still contact the police?" Xiao Ke asked.

"A Light Mage found some footprints that do not belong to humans," Xu Dahuang said seriously.

The others fell silent, but Li Wenjie looked spirited, clearly excited about the work.

"This incident was reported to us a week after it happened, what a bunch of idiots. If they had informed us immediately, we might have been able to find the missing girl. Now, after so long, that girl is dead for sure!"

"Some schools are like that, always trying to cover up bad things. Once they can't cover it up, they realize it's a big deal!" Guo Caitang snorted.

Mo Fan's heart skipped a beat after hearing everyone's discussion.

Missing for a week???

It seemed that Ye Xinya hadn't contacted him for a whole week!

Because he didn't have money to buy a phone, Mo Fan usually called Ye Xinya from an old phone booth, at least once a week.

He had just returned from his training, and his mind was focused on improving his strength, so he forgot to check in with Ye Xinya.

Ye Xinya's aunt Mo Qing's house was near Mingwen Girls' High School. Even during the summer break, Ye Xinya spent a lot of time in the school library, and she had difficulty moving around...

The more Mo Fan thought about it, the more anxious he became. He hurriedly borrowed Fei Shi's phone.

"The number you dialed has been disconnected."

Mo Fan's heart skipped a beat.

"I'll meet up with you later!" Without another word, Mo Fan sprinted out of the Hunter Alliance hall.

"Hey, wait! At least take my phone so we can contact you!" Fei Shi shouted after Mo Fan.

As he shouted, Fei Shi threw his phone to Mo Fan, who was running out.

"Bro, isn't it dangerous to throw your phone like that? What if he doesn't catch it?"

"It's fine, it's a Nokia, it won't break."

"Bro, I mean, what if it hits someone?!"

"..."

"What's wrong with him, why does he look so bad all of a sudden?"

"Who knows, anyway, let's get to work."

...

(Hehe, after updating this chapter, I'll have dinner and then wait for everyone in the Sanjiang interview!)
