【First, I must make a serious clarification: This book is not about online games! It's not an infinite series! It's not about a穿越 world! I can only say that this is a modern, surreal novel... You'll understand the specifics as you read on.

I reiterate: This is not a novel about online games!】

Chapter 3: 【We Won't Die!】

Chen Xiaolian got the Korean little girl and the Japanese flight attendant out of the plane cabin.

The little girl could still walk on her own, but the flight attendant could barely move her legs, whether from fear or injury. Even as he supported the flight attendant out of the cabin, Chen Xiaolian didn't have any other thoughts—survival was the priority, and who had time for such distractions!

After moving about a few dozen meters away from the cabin, the three of them sat on the ground.

Only then did Chen Xiaolian turn to look at the plane.

The fuselage was still relatively intact, but both wings were gone, clearly broken off.

This was a forest—judging from the vegetation... well, actually, Chen Xiaolian couldn't really tell much.

He wasn't an expert in wilderness survival and couldn't determine the location or whether it was a tropical or temperate region from the vegetation.

But the scene was still impressive enough.

Behind the plane, a long path had been plowed through the forest! It seemed the plane had made a forced landing in the forest, crashing and creating a path.

The path was several hundred meters long, with trees and vegetation either knocked down or flattened.

The landing gear was nowhere to be seen, and the cabin lay on the ground, surrounded by broken and scattered trees.

Although he had seen many disaster scenes in Hollywood blockbusters, the reality in front of him wasn't a computer-generated effect but a real, vivid scene that left Chen Xiaolian stunned for several minutes!

...

The flight attendant seemed to calm down and was trying to stand up. Fortunately, it seemed her legs weren't injured; she had just been scared.

She leaned against a tree, looking around helplessly and fearfully, then called out in a slightly hoarse voice.

"Help!!"

"Da_si_kai_tai!!"

Now he understood; the second phrase "dasikaitai" must mean "help" in her language.

The Korean little girl just sat there crying—considering her age, she was probably no more than ten. The fact that she could sit and cry without fainting was a sign of her strength. Other than that, there wasn't much to expect from her.

Chen Xiaolian took a deep breath and then suddenly ran back into the cabin.

The flight attendant saw Chen Xiaolian's actions and shouted something, seemingly trying to stop him, but he waved her off and climbed back into the cabin.

A moment later, Chen Xiaolian came out with a box, then went back in and brought out another one.

The flight attendant seemed to realize something, hesitated for a moment, then bit her lip, took off her shoes, and ran barefoot to help Chen Xiaolian.

Inside the cabin, there were still some food and water, which they both carried out.

Then they brought out some boxes.

Chen Xiaolian found a thicker hoodie in his own box and put it on the Korean little girl, zipping it up for her.

The little girl sniffled, stopped crying, and looked up at Chen Xiaolian.

"Don't be afraid," Chen Xiaolian said softly, not caring if she understood, and then ran back into the plane.

His own phone was broken. Chen Xiaolian searched the cabin for a long time and finally found a phone, but it wouldn't turn on, probably damaged...

He angrily threw it away.

If only he had bought a Nokia!

Behind him, the flight attendant patted Chen Xiaolian, and he turned to see her holding out a...

Phone.

"Yours?" Chen Xiaolian pointed at her.

The flight attendant, whether she understood or not, nodded, and Chen Xiaolian was overjoyed, laughing and feeling a surge of relief, even hugging the flight attendant and giving her a thumbs up.

But a few minutes later...

Chen Xiaolian's face turned pale as he handed the phone back to the flight attendant.

"No... signal."

All the numbers were busy or unreachable, including the global rescue number 400-888-4099.

The flight attendant also became panicked, tried a few more numbers, then turned pale, suddenly squatting down and hugging her knees, sobbing.

Chen Xiaolian took a deep breath, squinted his eyes, and looked around... at the forest.

...

The sky gradually darkened.

The three of them, one man and two women, sat around a campfire.

The fire was started with a resistor lighter, the only type of lighter that can be brought on a plane, found in a passenger's bag.

They gathered branches and started a fire, wrapping themselves in blankets.

The food was airplane meals, heated over the fire in aluminum foil. It was unappetizing but enough to fill their stomachs. In such a situation, they didn't have many options.

Chen Xiaolian tried to communicate with the other two girls.

Unfortunately, the Japanese flight attendant only knew a little simple English, with a heavy Japanese accent. In Chinese, she could only say "hello" and "thank you."

Chen Xiaolian's English was average, mostly learned from school and American TV shows. Simple conversations were fine, but complex situations were difficult.

As for the Korean little girl...

Chen Xiaolian was pleasantly surprised to find that she understood Chinese!

However, she could only understand, not speak.

In the middle of the night, the atmosphere became increasingly gloomy and oppressive.

There was a small incident that night that seemed to lift Chen Xiaolian's spirits.

He saw a plane flying overhead... with lights, at a steady speed, crossing the sky.

He wasn't foolish enough to wave and shout for help... at least ten thousand meters up, who would see him!

But...

Chen Xiaolian felt a faint sense of comfort.

Perhaps it was a special humor of a web novelist.

(The moon and stars were normal, and a plane flew by... at least he could be sure he hadn't been transported to another world or the past.)

Behind him, the Korean little girl started crying again.

Her small body curled up, wrapped in a blanket, tears streaming down her face, muttering something.

Chen Xiaolian walked over and heard her saying something like "Ohma" (mom).

It made sense; a child her age thinking of her mother in such a situation was natural.

Chen Xiaolian took a deep breath, squatted down, and patted the little girl's head. She stopped crying and looked at him with wide, confused eyes.

"Don't worry, we'll be fine," Chen Xiaolian said with a smile, gentle but firm. His words were more to reassure himself than her:

"You won't die, she won't die, and I won't die! We'll all go home alive! I promise! I'm the only man here, and I'll take care of you... I'm only eighteen, and I have a whole life ahead of me! I haven't even had a girlfriend! I have a lot of readers calling me a god! How can I die in a place like this! Don't worry! Oppa will take you home alive!"

After saying this, Chen Xiaolian made a funny face at the little girl and loudly said in the few Korean words he knew from watching Korean variety shows: "Fighting!!"

The flight attendant seemed to be amused by the last word, raised her small fist, and said, "Ganbatte!"

Well, at least she understood that.

Chen Xiaolian smiled at her, turned to look into the dark forest, and his smile gradually faded, his expression serious.

...

That night, the little girl and the flight attendant eventually fell asleep, but Chen Xiaolian stayed awake. It wasn't a matter of responsibility; he simply couldn't sleep.

When the sky began to lighten, Chen Xiaolian woke the two girls, first pulling the Korean little girl aside.

"Stay here, don't go anywhere. I'm going to look for help! Wait for me, don't leave this place!"

Chen Xiaolian thought for a moment and repeated it in simple English to the Japanese flight attendant:

"Stay here. Do not move! I’m looking for help! I will be back!! Trust me!!"

His grammar was off, but it didn't matter; as long as she understood.

It wasn't a test!

Chen Xiaolian found a sturdy stick as a weapon, tightened his shoelaces, put two bottles of mineral water in his pocket, and left.

(Well, it's a new book. If you find it interesting, please add it to your collection!)
