28. Jason VS Almond (2)
There is an item called a Power Suit.
As the name suggests, it is a suit that, when worn, overflows with power.
It is also an item that often appears in the SF genre. However, it doesn't really fit in the battle royale game, Battle Large, which strives for realism.
While continuously improving the performance to enhance the value of legendary items,
a Power Suit, which doesn't really fit in modern warfare, ended up appearing.
The performance of this Power Suit was so incredible that it could be argued that it should be classified as a mythic item rather than a legendary one.
While not as powerful as Iron Man's suit, it has excellent basic defense and can run very fast with its powerful leaps. Thanks to its acceleration, a punch alone can potentially take away 30% of an opponent's health.
Overall, it boosts physical abilities by about three times.
However, the Power Suit isn't something that can be obtained just by being lucky in any area.
It only appears in the underground armory or air drop crates.
Since air drops can fall at any time, the underground armory is the only fixed location.
Of course, it doesn't appear every time in the underground armory either.
It has a very low probability of appearing.
That's why when it is discovered, it often leads to what is commonly known as an 'all-tube moment.'
Almond could also be considered lucky in that sense.
However, the difference is that it wasn't he who obtained it, but his enemy.
Almond, peeking out from the stairs of the underground armory, asks,
"What is that?"
Boom──
Almond couldn't help but be surprised when he saw the identity of the enemy at the bottom of the stairs.
A person wearing a strange glowing suit was running around. It was so fast.
In Battle Large, there is a set speed for human running.
This was far beyond that speed.
'Did I really see that correctly?'
Almond was seeing the Power Suit for the first time.
Most of the Battle Large videos he had watched were for skill improvement, so there were no lucky games featuring such a Power Suit.
Such exceptional cases don't help with skill improvement.
- So that's why Jason cleaned up down there XD
- Wow, insane XD
- Power Suit?
- Haha XD
- This is the pressure of the armory!
- Are you crazy XD
- Really? I didn't expect to see a Power Suit today.
Bang!
A loud noise accompanied by a terminal scream echoed.
[Jason → SqueakyPanty]
[68/100]
That was probably the last one.
Jason will come for Almond now.
'I need to block the entrance.'
Almond threw a Molotov cocktail he had farmed from a corpse.
Whoosh!
Fierce flames blocked the enemy's path. He then drew his bow, ready to shoot at any moment.
As he turned the corner──
- The suit is immune to fire...
- It also has a gas mask, so it's immune to smoke. It's basically immune to most things. You can only kill it with a direct hit.
- Dang, take the damage already!
Boom!
A loud, ringing noise echoed.
Swoosh──
Suddenly, a blue figure charged up the stairs.
It rushed over in a flash.
'I can't hit it.'
Almond instinctively knew that if the blue figure decided to dodge, he wouldn't be able to hit it with an arrow.
At the same moment, Almond rolled to the side.
Bang!
The blue figure smashed through the opposite wall.
Then it turned around and laughed.
"Hey! Are you Almond?!"
Sure enough, it was Jason.
Jason in the Power Suit.
Almond finally got a good look at the Power Suit.
It wasn't as futuristic as he had imagined.
It was more like a poorly designed hero's spandex.
Still, the fact that he knew Almond's name was surprising.
- Haha, another headshot?
- No, he knows from the kill log.
- Maybe he's a fan XD
- About the sniper with the Power Suit...
- I'm gonna throw up XD
- Seriously, that suit is so gay. It's very strong.
- XD The only downside of the Power Suit is that it's embarrassing!
Despite the appearance of the Power Suit, Almond felt both confusion and anger.
'Such a cocky bastard...'
The enemy was acting with the kind of ease only seen in shonen battle series.
To casually call out while having the upper hand.
Almond immediately fired his bow in response.
Twang!
"Whoa!"
The enemy quickly dodged.
Indeed.
An arrow could be dodged just by moving.
He was that fast.
'Still... not impossible to hit.'
However, it wasn't impossible to hit.
No matter how powerful the Power Suit, Battle Large is a game based on modern warfare.
It just gives the feeling of 'exceeding normal human capabilities.' It doesn't have the monstrous destructive power seen in hero series.
Most importantly, the Power Suit has no offensive capabilities.
The weapon was just a regular assault rifle.
"Since I'm in the suit, at least let me say hello!"
Rat-tat-tat!
The enemy fired the gun while spouting extra-like lines.
The gun, being a hero-grade weapon, had no shortcomings in terms of rate of fire, recoil, or destructive power.
If Almond hadn't quickly hidden behind a container box, he would have probably died.
Like the wooden box behind where he was standing.
Boom! Boom!
It would have exploded like that.
"Damn..."
As Almond's voice betrayed his difficulty for the first time,
- Haha XD
- Please die, Almond! XD
- Just die once, Almond!
- Is he really going to die here?!
- Is this the first time he's dying with a bow?
The viewers were enjoying it.
There had been games where Almond died due to bad luck for not finding a bow, but this was the first time he was dying with a bow in hand.
They were curious about his reaction.
He would probably say 'Oh...' and queue up again. Everyone knew, but the taste of that fear was scary.
The viewers wanted to see that scene.
'No way.'
Almond had no intention of showing such a scene.
No matter what, this was a skill stream.
Ting!
He unscrewed the cap of a smoke grenade he had farmed from a corpse. He unscrewed three in succession.
Sssssssss!
Thick smoke covered the area.
"Hey, don't hide!"
Boom! Boom!
The opposite container box was riddled with holes.
Fortunately, it wasn't where Almond was.
"Mr. Almond! Let's take a picture!!! Hahaha!"
- Insane XD
- Pure madness XD
- Endless handshake requests!
- What is this guy doing XD
Fortunately, the enemy was intoxicated by his own power.
Almond only had a recurve bow, while the enemy had a Power Suit and a hero-grade assault rifle.
It was understandable for him to act cocky.
[The Blue Zone will shrink in 30 seconds!]
Worse yet.
The Blue Zone was about to shrink.
'Position...'
Almond checked the map and was taken aback.
"Oh..."
The blue circle was drawn at the farthest point.
The Blue Zone location had once again abandoned Almond.
"He's not helping me this time."
- Omen
- Is this it? Omen?
- O──men
- Haha XD
- Oh...
- Ohhhh
- Oooooo
Was there really a god who was putting Almond in danger?
Was the AI, Ruby, trying to balance the overly strong Almond relative to his skill level?
Not helping even when the last remaining enemy in the armory was in a Power Suit. Almond was feeling quite disappointed.
Meanwhile,
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!
Jason was firing his gun.
"Mom! I want to be Almond when I grow up!!!"
- he shouted.
"Crazy guy..."
Curses naturally slipped out of Almond's mouth.
- Haha XD
- This is legendary, really XD
- Crazy guy... This is rare.
- Omen...
- This is sacred.
- Damn XD
- Legendary!
- Jason is a crazy guy, really XD
Jason seemed intent on continuing this until Almond came out.
If he kept destroying everything like this, Almond would eventually die.
"Oooooomen! Oooooo! Men!"
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!!
The destruction was getting closer to Almond.
The dark inside of the container box was now filled with light from the holes.
Almond kept moving his position.
'I can't just run. Think. What are my advantages?'
He had a bow.
The enemy was armed with all kinds of weapons.
The advantage of a bow over a gun is the ability to shoot in a parabolic trajectory.
With an extreme parabolic shot, you can kill an enemy behind an obstacle.
But there are limits. This is an armory with a ceiling. The arrow would probably hit the ceiling.
'That's out.'
A parabolic shot won't work.
It's impossible in a place with a roof.
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!!!
The next burst of gunfire hit, and one of the bullets grazed Almond's leg.
Pfft...
Red blood dripped, and his movement speed decreased.
Now, he couldn't avoid a real confrontation.
But a head-on fight wasn't an option.
Even if the enemy was complacent, a head-on fight with a bow against an enemy in a Power Suit with a gun was impossible.
Parabolic shots won't work, so what other advantages does an arrow have?
A word flashed through Almond's mind.
'Curve shooting.'
A technique to curve the arrow around an obstacle to hit the enemy.
It might sound impossible to those who don't know, but it's a real archery technique used in combat.
Almond had never tried it. He had only seen it on all-tube.
He wasn't sure, but what else could he do?
It was his only option.
"Draw──release!"
Boom!
Jason laughed and charged into the container box.
- Startled!
- Crazy! Is this a horror movie?
- Dang
- So good, Jason XD
- Good Jason XD
- Nice
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!!!
His gun spat fire. Almond threw his body backward and fired his bow.
Four arrows, nocked on the string, were fired in quick succession.
Twang!
"Whoa!"
The enemy was startled and dodged.
Four arrows aimed at his head were dangerous even with the Power Suit.
Thanks to the enemy's startled retreat, Almond escaped again.
'Aim is bad.'
His health was slightly worn down, but it was a good ambush.
The enemy wasn't a good shot.
Or maybe he was excited from the Power Suit.
In any case, with this level of skill, there was a chance of winning.
'I need to find the perfect obstacle.'
If he could shoot a curve shot around an obstacle,
he could win.
He needed to shoot from behind something sturdy that a gun couldn't penetrate.
A building pillar caught Almond's eye.
In a large warehouse, the pillars were thick. From behind such a pillar, he could try. If necessary, he could circle the pillar to buy time.
Several scenarios flashed through his mind, but he didn't have time to think.
Thud!
He gritted his teeth and ran.
His avatar, injured in the lower body, twisted in pain, but Almond kept running.
The enemy noticed.
"Almond! Give me an autograph!!!"
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!
Jason started firing again.
Pfft!
A bullet grazed his shoulder.
It didn't matter.
'Got it!'
He successfully hid behind the pillar.
[The Blue Zone is shrinking!]
The alert for the moving Blue Zone sounded.
At the same moment, Almond nocked an arrow.
There was no click.
He didn't nock it in the center of the string.
Perceptive viewers asked,
- Huh? Did he nock the bowstring wrong?
- He nocked it too quickly.
Almond nocked the arrow at about the 1/3 point of the string, not the center. Since it wasn't the usual nocking position, there was no click.
It made it harder to shoot, but he had to.
Almond recalled his past memories and aimed at the invisible pillar.
"Hmm."
He took a deep breath and synchronized his entire body's rhythm with the bow.
Even his heartbeat slowed.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha!"
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!
Jason, firing as if to blow up the pillar, helped Almond gauge his position.
Not just a rough estimate.
Swoosh.
It was as if he could see it clearly with his eyes closed.
This large pillar, about five steps away, and the enemy was turning to the right.
Almond also turned his bow to the right.
The arrow was still nocked at the 1/3 point of the string, and he pulled it back.
Creak.
Normally, it should form a symmetrical fan shape, but this time it was a distorted fan.
The fan shape drawn by the bow and string smoothly collapsed.
Release.
Whoosh!
- What? Why shoot at the pillar?
- Is he losing it?
- Wow, a mistake!?
The arrow flying toward the pillar.
It soon curved, defying the wind.
- ???
- What?
- Wow!
- Crazy?
A strange angle.
That's what it was.
The arrow, as if with a will of its own, curved at a strange angle.
Swoosh──
