It was in Marianne's grandfather's heart.
A letter arrived from Florence, who had married into a noble family. It seemed that she was enjoying herself every day and her family was living healthily.
Marianne, his granddaughter, being invited to a tea party at the palace surprised him. He was relieved that she hadn't done anything to embarrass herself in front of the royal family, which would have been a great success.
That child is kind and incredibly smart, but as a noble, she is perhaps a bit too honest. She tends to speak and think too quickly, much like Florence when she was young.
Florence had been so busy taking care of her younger siblings that she had missed her chance to marry. Now, she is the lady of a noble family, and Marianne was born into happiness. Life can take unexpected turns.
I was worried when I heard that there was a noble lady who was not only of a different rank but also resembled the late first wife in her noble character. However, it seems that she and Florence are getting along reasonably well.
I had heard that the nobleman was a serious person with no rumors of womanizing, but he showed great enthusiasm and sincerity by sending flowers and gifts daily to Florence and visiting our home every three days to ask for permission to marry.
Florence, after being persuaded by relatives, reluctantly agreed to the arranged meeting but kept saying, "It's too late to get married; it's troublesome." Our family was surprised by the nobleman's persistence.
The reason for the nobleman's persistence was that he had "learned the beauty of a family where everyone laughs together for the first time in this house. I don't want Florence, who knows this happiness, to be taken by another man. I want her to build such a family with me."
For a poor baron like me, this is a matter of course. When I return home, there are my lovely wife and children. Simple but delicious homemade meals, and tea times filled with laughter. I was surprised to hear that he was moved by such a family atmosphere. Is the home of a high-ranking noble so cold?
He said, "When Florence has children, I want to create a family like this one, with the daughter I already have." "So please, let Florence be my wife." He repeated this to both Florence and me.
From what I hear from Marianne, who often visits, it seems that the nobleman has kept his promise. She says it's a "wealthy and enjoyable home." Marianne, you should be a bit more reserved in what you say.
Still, what was that the other day?
The second prince, followed by a group of guard knights, came to our home, chasing after Marianne, who was visiting.
I was told, "It's fine for you to leave the room," so I waited in the next room. Marianne, you really have no tact with the prince.
The old man was genuinely worried.
The prince, for his part, was calmly writing when pressed to "write a letter."
The prince didn't get angry and was inspired by Marianne's words before leaving. I wonder if those two will be alright.
The guard knights are all from well-known noble families. The relationship between Marianne and the prince is probably known in the noble society.
For now, it can be excused as just two children, but if they continue like this, no noble will propose a marriage to the Randforia family. No one wants to anger the prince.
On our side, we can't make any moves until the prince eventually becomes engaged to a high-ranking noble's daughter. Marianne, for her part, talks about being eager to marry into a noble family quickly.
If she is being chased by the prince, she will be avoided by noble families with sons.
We can only wait for the prince to tire of Marianne, but his persistence is troubling.
However, if he doesn't tire of her, it will be a problem. Marianne is not the type to become a second wife or a mistress in a duke's household. She is not suited to be a duchess and would not desire it either.
I want her to live in a world where her abilities can be utilized.
If anything happens to her, I want to do my best to protect her. I need to live a long life with my wife.
