The body is very, very heavy, like a ball of cotton in water, soaked to the brim and unable to move. But…who cares, just lie here, why should I move?

Anyway, there was nowhere for her to go.

There were many shifting figures in front of her; some were shouting to her; some were surrounding her and pressing her with swords; some were hurriedly tying her up with ropes.

The noise of footsteps was suddenly heard, and someone rushed in, shouting, “Here comes the heavenly decree…!”

Those twittering noises were so annoying that her ears and head felt like they were about to explode. She gave up struggling, and decided to be a dead fish, to be slaughtered. In a trance, as if she was being led by someone, she wandered to a dark place, opposite to an iron door, as thick as an arm, with all kinds of strange incantations carved on it.

It felt familiar, but she couldn’t remember where it was. She was pushed and thrown behind the door for no apparent reason.

Many people were looking at her through the iron door, whispering to each other outside.

“What a pity……just came up here… …”

“…they have committed a heinous crime, and all those around them are guilty of it…”

“If you don’t repent in death, the Heavenly Emperor can’t protect you even if he wants to…

She couldn’t hear who those people were talking about, she just felt tired, incredibly tired, her body was filled with fatigue, every inch of her skin was lazy, she just wanted to lie here.

It’s good to lie here. Above her head there is some light, occasionally a cloud passes by, at this moment she felt very calm.

“Hey, I said… you must not forget about me.”

Someone spoke to her. The voice was familiar, had I heard it somewhere before?

“But it doesn’t matter if you forget. I’ll wait for you, I’ll find you, and we’ll settle our grudge then.”

A grudge? What grudge?

She was shocked for no reason at all, and the water in her body seemed to be drained away in an instant, as if the scenery around her was trapped in a whirlpool, swirling and twisting away.

She opened her eyes suddenly, and a light shone down from above, shining directly on her nose. Here was a cavern, damp and dark, with no sound.

Xuanji moved slightly and felt a sharp pain in her right hand, which seemed to be fractured. She sat up in confusion and looked around first. It seemed to be a cave deep into the ground. It was not big, so you would bump into the cave wall after taking a few steps, but it was very deep, and there was direct sunlight coming in from the entrance of the cave above her head. The cave was full of moss and smelled strange.

How did she end up here? Xuanji racked her brain to remember what happened before. She remembered that she and Sifeng met a demon who went up to the mountain to destroy the Dinghǎi Iron Chain.

She was burned by a strange fire, kicked in the back by a demon, and passed out. The last thing she remembers is someone carrying her and jumping into the lake…it was Sifeng! Sifeng must have saved her!

Xuanji got up quickly, but her right hand and back seized up at the same time, causing her to suffocate in her chest, and she almost fell back on her head as gold stars bounced in front of her. In a trance, she saw a person lying in the corner of the cave, with blue robe and black hair, and it was Yu Sifeng. She ignored the pain in her body and struggled to run over to him, flipping him over.

Sifeng’s body was soft and unresponsive. Xuanji called out to him for half a day, but he didn’t answer.

She suddenly had a bad feeling in her heart, trembling, she grabbed his wrist and felt for his pulse – she let out a breath. It was alright, his pulse was still there, he was not dead!

“Can you hear me, Sifeng?”

She was whispering in his ear, but he still didn’t move. He was wearing a mask on his face and she could not see his face. Xuanji was so anxious that she raised her hand to remove it, but suddenly she saw red marks on the edge of the mask, as if something had dried up and congealed.

She dipped her hand into it and put it in front of her nose and smelled it – it was blood!

Xuanji’s heart dropped suddenly and her body became cold. She was afraid to uncover his mask, fearing to see his face covered in blood and bleeding from seven orifices[1]. Is he going to die? Is it an irreparable injury?

Her whole body was shaking, and her eyes were staring at that crying mask in a daze… No, she remembered that Sifeng’s mask was half smiling and half crying! She hesitantly reached out and ran her hand over the mask, but now it turned weepy, and the smiling half disappeared…leaving only some of the smile on her lips.

“Sifeng!” She screamed and took off the mask in one go.

The face under the mask is not as she imagined, distorted or bleeding. It is still a pale face, long eyebrows, a sharp nose. It is still the cold and arrogant young man she remembers from four years ago. He has shed his youthfulness and is clearly defined, like an upright pine or a bamboo. As Zhong Minyan said, whenever he sees that boy Sifeng, he always thinks of something very elegant, we are all raised the same way, how can someone be so good-looking?

Xuanji reached out her hand and touched him on the face. His eyes were closed tightly and his eyelashes were wetly stuck under his eyes, probably because he hit his nose. The nosebleed had flowed down to the side, and there was also dried blood at the corner of his mouth.

The first time she saw him again, she thought that something had happened to him. Stinky Sifeng didn’t tell her anything, she was so worried to death.

She felt up and down his arms and legs, he must have fainted and was not seriously injured. Xuanji then put her mind at ease and endured the excruciating pain in her right hand and back, felt around her body, found a wet handkerchief and wiped the bloodstains on his face.

Yu Sifeng groaned softly and opened his eyes in a daze, and the first thing he saw was Xuanji, who was in a terrible state of disarray.

“You’re awake! How are you? Where does it hurt?” When Xuanji saw him open his eyes, she cried out again.

He stared up at her in a daze, suddenly raised his hand to wipe her face and said softly: “Xuanji, why are you so ugly?”

Xuanji was stunned, but she saw him struggle to sit up and suddenly covered his chest with a muffled grunt. “What is it?”

He shook his head, “I have broken ribs, it’s okay… Can you help me find some branches?”

She promised, and immediately groped around in the cave, found several wet branches, piled them up in front of him, and without hesitation unbuttoned his clothes to help fix the bones. Yu Sifeng’s face flushed red and he grabbed it, whispering, “I’ll do it myself.”

When Xuanji saw that his face was as red as the morning sun and he was as shy as when he was young, she smiled and said, “Why are you blushing, we are all friends! I’ll help you to fix it faster.”

For a while, he slowly raised his hand and touched his face, then changed color and said, “Where’s the mask?”

Xuanji raised the strange mask in her hand and said with a smile, “I took it off long ago! I saw blood on it. I thought you were hurt. Have I violated your rules again?”

Yu Sifeng looked at her incredulously, as if she was looking at a monster, and mumbled, “You… you can take it off?”

“What’s wrong with that? It’s just a mask!

He just looked at her in awe and did not say anything. Xuanji was so stunned by his stare that she carefully returned the mask to him and softly said, “I… … did I do something wrong?”

When he still didn’t say anything, Xuanji said anxiously, “You… Look, I’m just a pighead! I always so something wrong. Either I forgot to write to you or I broke your rules! You can beat me if you want! Don’t just sulk there…”

Yu Sifeng suddenly shook his head and breathed a sigh of relief, his eyebrows and eyes like the blooming of spring flowers. Suddenly he smiled, and the dark cave seemed to be filled with brightness.

“You…” Xuanji was so blinded that she suddenly forgot what she was going to say.

In the next moment, she was suddenly held in someone’s arms. He hugged her tightly, lowered his head and placed a kiss on her tousled hair for a long time before whispering, “I’m not angry, I’m just too happy.”
