Chapter 5

4 min read894 words

When Reisha and I woke up, we had breakfast with Maria. After finishing breakfast, Maria returned to her room to start preparing for our departure.

Reisha and I, having nothing to prepare, quietly looked outside from the window of our room.

"Any sign of pursuers?"

"No... I guess the investigation isn't over yet?"

"Either way, they must know that we're not in the capital."

If that's the case, there should be some search parties out looking for us.

"Rumors about our appearance might have spread from the inn to the townspeople. We should make a quick escape."

"I want to buy some clothes and undergarments, but I'll endure it."

We've been using magic to remove dirt, but for a noble lady who bathes daily and takes meticulous care of herself, it's tough.

"Sorry about that."

"Oh, no, it's mutual."

Yeah, to be honest, I want to take a bath too.

"--- Your Highness! Lady Reisha!"

While we were peeking out the window, we heard Maria's voice along with a knock.

"Come in."

"Yes, excuse me... What are you doing?"

Maria asked as she entered the room.

"Checking if there are any pursuers."

I answered while still looking out the window.

"Oh, right. Shouldn't we disguise ourselves?"

"It's too late for that. By the way, Maria, stop calling me 'Your Highness.' They know my noble status, but calling me 'Your Highness' is too risky."

Being royal is too dangerous.

"But, it's disrespectful to Your Highness—"

"Don't worry, I've been disinherited."

"Oh, right. Then I'll call you Lord Lloyd... Hehe, calling you that makes me feel like I'm a queen—Sorry!!"

Maria was smiling happily, but when Reisha, who was also looking out the window, slowly turned to face her, she suddenly apologized.

"Maria, when are we leaving?"

Reisha's voice was cold.

"S-Soon! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"

Maria was apologizing in a tearful voice.

"Alright, let's put the plan into action."

I said, stepping away from the window.

"Right. Maria, lead us to the airport."

"Yes, sir!"

Maria bowed deeply.

We left the inn and headed for the airport with Maria. On the way, we didn't encounter anyone, but I could feel glances from inside the houses. Everyone is curious about the nobles but doesn't want to get involved because they're scared.

"That's the airport."

After walking for a while, we saw a few airships on the grass outside the town.

"They're not very big, are they?"

Indeed, they were all small, probably only able to carry about ten passengers. But for us, who are planning to hijack one, it's perfect.

"The airships in this town are all like that. But even this size can reach the Holy Kingdom."

Actually, smaller airships consume less magic power, so they can fly farther.

"Are there any other passengers besides us?"

"No, there aren't. There are only a few on the other flights as well."

Even better.

"Shall we go, then?"

We reached the grass and submitted our tickets at the check-in counter.

"Three passengers. Please board the airship over there. Departure is imminent."

We boarded the airship as instructed and entered the passenger cabin. The cabin was just one large room with a carpet on the floor.

"Cheesy."

Reisha complained about the interior.

"It's a civilian airship. I think this is what you can expect."

Of course, the airships that nobles like us usually ride are luxurious. But we can't afford such luxury, and the security is too tight for a hijacking.

"Well, I'm not complaining. Let's enjoy a comfortable flight."

"Actually, this is my first time on an airship."

"Really? Well, there's not much to it. But take-off is fun. Look out the window over there."

Reisha suggested, and Maria started looking out the window.

"I'll go check the deck."

I waved to Reisha.

"Safe travels."

Reisha waved back with a big smile, so I left the cabin, climbed the stairs, and went to the deck. A few men were doing the final checks.

"Is there something you need, sir?"

One of the crew members approached me.

"You're doing the checks, but is everything okay for the flight?"

"Of course. The checks are almost done, so please return to the cabin. We're about to take off."

I see, I see. That's good.

Since there's no problem, I'll just put them to sleep all at once.

I pointed my index finger up.

"Sleep!"

When I cast the spell, the man in front of me and the others checking something fell over one by one. It was a hassle, but I carried each of them and lined them up outside the airship. Then, I entered the cockpit and also lined up the three sleeping magicians outside the airship.

"Alright, that's done."

Now, we're the only ones on this airship.

"Alright, let's set sail!"

I took the helm, channeled my magic, and started operating the airship. The airship lifted off. Maria is probably excited in the cabin.

"Small towns really have no security, making a hijacking a breeze."

I floated the airship to a certain height, then used the compass and map in the cockpit to head for Walter and started flying the airship.
