The thin homeless man became interested when the guy in front of him actually acknowledged him, and began to talk non-stop.
"Do you know, they are willing to pay in cash." As he spoke, he pulled out a bottle filled with dark red liquid from the bag at his waist.
"No matter how many times you've sold, they will still take it as long as you are willing to sell. And the price is no lower than the market. They even buy the bottled ones."
The tall guy's eyes twitched, and a mocking smile curved at the corner of his mouth. He didn't say anything, just nodded at the thin homeless man, signaling him to continue.
"I don't know what these guys are up to, but they seem to take this very seriously. Some Manhattan gangs tried to get a piece of the action, but they were all scattered after a few clashes. The old guys say it was the people behind these guys who did it."
"Also, I heard these guys buy blood not for medical purposes, but for some evil devil ritual. Who knows which one is true, but as long as there's money to be made, it's all good."
The thin man was more like complaining than confiding. However, he had a good listener. The tall guy never interrupted him, just nodded from time to time to show he was listening. This made the homeless man have a new perception of his tall companion, at least he was a decent guy.
Just as the homeless man was still talking non-stop, seriously evaluating which restaurant's dumpster in the neighborhood had the best-smelling stuff, a woman in a suit walked over, looked at the documents in her hand, and said to the tall homeless man.
"Chad Noma? It's your turn, follow me." The tall homeless man stood up, coughed, and nodded to the woman in the suit. Then he waved goodbye to the thin man and followed the woman in the suit into the depths of the tunnel. The thin man also waved, muttering things that others couldn't understand or didn't want to hear.
The two walked through the dark tunnel, which was already deep underground. It had been converted into an unknown structure, with cameras and guards everywhere, indicating that this was not a charitable organization. The tall homeless man coughed and responded to the questions from the woman in the suit.
"Have you had any tattoos or other skin-piercing procedures in the past year?"
"No."
The woman in the suit tapped her chin with the pen in her hand.
"What about the scar on your chin?"
The homeless man, who was looking around, instinctively covered his chin with his hand and responded after a moment.
"I had an accident when I was a kid." He coughed a couple of times, clearly not wanting to say more. As they walked further, they could no longer see anyone else. This was clearly planned. The woman in the suit continued her work.
"You said you have no close relatives?"
Chad Noma replied in a stiff voice, "At least I haven't been in touch with any close relatives."
The woman in the suit smiled slightly.
"So, in case of an emergency, there's no one to contact?"
"None."
Chad Noma fixed his gaze on a group of cleaners who were diligently cleaning the floor of a room, which was covered in sticky liquid.
"No family?" The woman in the suit seemed not to care what he saw and continued to ask.
Chad Noma seemed a bit impatient with the topic.
"I told you, none! Are you saying I can't donate blood?"
The woman in the suit seemed to have no intention of continuing the topic, leading him straight to a guarded door while flipping through the forms in her hand.
"I'm not sure, but your blood test results show something very abnormal."
"What?" Chad Noma looked surprised, covering his mouth and coughing. "How abnormal?"
The woman in the suit led the homeless man into the door, inputting some incomprehensible symbols at a device that looked like a password lock, and explained to him.
"Let me explain. Your blood contains a rare phenotype, a type we've never seen before."
At this point, the door behind them slammed shut, making Chad Noma turn back in surprise and ask in confusion.
"What? What are you talking about?"
As he said this, security personnel pressed him down from behind, using a strength that was not human, forcing him towards a place that looked like a surgical table.
"Who are you?" he asked, trembling, clearly filled with fear.
"Please sit down." The woman in the suit was unmoved, watching as the security personnel and a man dressed like a butcher pinned Chad Noma to the surgical table, looking at him with a gaze that seemed to be sizing up livestock.
Chad Noma looked around uneasily and asked, "What's going on?"
"It's a mixed bag, Chad," the man dressed like a butcher said with a smile, revealing sharp canine teeth and dark eyes.
He looked at Chad Noma and then back at the woman in the suit, who was smiling strangely.
"Just that it's good for us..."
"For you..." he said, taking out something that looked like a glove from the side and putting it on. The tip of the glove was a large needle, which made anyone who saw it feel a deep sense of fear.
"...but bad for you."
Chad Noma trembled, making a sound that was initially like a sob and a low plea, but as the sound grew louder, it turned into a suppressed laugh, like the laugh of a successful prank.
Chad Noma burst out laughing, his grin revealing even sharper teeth, and the scar on his jaw began to split open.
The man who seemed like a predator looked at the increasingly deranged Chad Noma, his playful smile turning blank and strange. They hadn't yet noticed Chad Noma's transformation, only wondering if the poor guy had gone mad from fear.
Chad Noma, being no good person, naturally didn't give them any explanation. He suddenly stood up, grabbed the woman in the suit by the neck, and bit into her neck with his sharp teeth. The force of his bite was so great that the woman's blood gushed out like a fountain from the damaged artery, instantly staining the wall behind her.
This mad act frightened the remaining two. The security guard quickly pulled out his gun from his waist and fired wildly at Chad Noma, who was still feeding. The bullets pierced Chad Noma's back, but did nothing more than disturb his meal. Instead, Chad Noma abandoned his meal and walked towards him.
"What are you going to do, you monster? Stay away from me!" The security guard, his rationality breaking down, charged at Chad Noma in a last-ditch effort, but the inhuman strength of his opponent offered no safety. Chad Noma grabbed his head with one hand, and the sound of bones grinding and breaking could be heard as his fingers snapped.
The security guard instantly became like a boneless snake, losing all strength and collapsing. However, his strong vitality kept him from dying, and he twitched, making unconscious sounds.
This scene did not affect Chad Noma in the slightest. He glanced at the man running towards the door, swung his arm, and slammed him into the wall. The sound was like a large tomato hitting the ground, and the dark red liquid splattered on the broken wall like an abstract painting.
At this point, the only surviving escapee had already rushed to the door, which was tightly closed. To leave, he had to open this door, which was closed to hide their evil deeds. If he could break through the door, he could call the guards and catch this damned monster.
But he couldn't open the door. The hands that could precisely operate surgical instruments now trembled, unable to input the password correctly. His fingers fumbled on the keyboard, always pressing the wrong keys in his panic. When he tried to input the password again, he had no more chance.
Chad Noma grabbed him by the neck and lifted him off the ground. At this moment, Chad Noma didn't eat the food in front of him but scanned the corners of the room and bared his blood-dripping fangs at the camera in the corner.
"A bunch of vampires!" Using the language of vampires, he spoke directly to the camera. "I hate vampires the most!"
After saying this, he looked at the food in front of him and slowly opened his mouth. As his jaws separated, the scar on his jaw split open like another mouth.
"What the hell is this thing?" A middle-aged bald man with a rugged face and a scarred face stared at the screen, questioning the last transformation of Chad Noma.
By this time, it had been a whole night since Chad Noma's attack. When the subway guards discovered something was wrong, Chad Noma had already escaped from the underground tunnel, his whereabouts unknown. Only the surveillance footage with a clear image of the perpetrator remained. When the subway's management reported the surveillance footage to their masters, a group of vampires who bought blood under the guise of a blood bank, their reaction was quite unexpected.
The surveillance footage was reported layer by layer, finally reaching the hands of the Grand Duke of the New York vampires, Alida Machinos. The Grand Duke saw the footage and called his most elite vampire warriors, planning a significant operation.
"Grand Duke, don't tell me you called me here just to deal with this guy?" The bald man spat, clearly unimpressed by Chad Noma's transformation, which was clearly different from normal creatures.
"Watch your attitude, Rehart!" A polite middle-aged black man standing beside him frowned, scolding the bald man named Rehart. "The Grand Duke is in front of you, and you need to show respect."
The Grand Duke, who had been sitting on a high seat with one hand supporting his head, raised his hand slightly to interrupt the black man's scolding. "Enough, Yassa. Don't worry about it. Our priority now is to eliminate these threats to our race's survival."
With this, the Grand Duke, supported by the woman beside him, stood up. The woman beside him was Nisha, whom Zhou Yi had met once. Here, she had a prominent status, the future Grand Duchess of the vampires, the only daughter of the current Grand Duke, and the successor of the vampire ruling party. With this beauty of the vampires as a contrast, the Grand Duke's appearance seemed particularly unimpressive.
