The blade of the knife suddenly leaped up, striking a single punch at Reihart's knee. The sound of bones colliding was heard clearly, even causing a feeling of discomfort in the listener's teeth.
In this pure contest of strength, the one clearly at a disadvantage was Reihart, the pureblood vampire. This fierce punch made his knee swell, indicating a certain degree of dislocation. However, the most serious issue for him was not this.
The Knife Edge did not just injure his knee; he also disrupted Reihart's balance in mid-air. The force acting on him, with no place to brace himself, caused Reihart to lose his balance and lunge forward.
In front of him, the Knife Edge had already taken a stance, waiting for his arrival. Before Reihart even landed, the Knife Edge, like an old friend, stepped forward to support his arm. However, his intentions were clearly not good.
Gripping his arm with both hands and applying pressure, the Knife Edge immediately made Reihart howl in pain, his arm twisting into a bizarre angle.
In just a few breaths, Reihart was already at a clear disadvantage. This situation clearly told the vampires that their opponent was far more powerful than they had imagined. However, they had anticipated this and knew one thing: they were a team, not lone wolves like the Knife Edge.
The moment Reihart screamed, some of his vampire guards could no longer hold back. Light Axe was the first to act. His brain was as muscular as his body, and in this situation, he was the only vampire daring enough to intervene.
Others were either hesitant or dismissive, mostly not planning to do anything. After all, the Knife Edge wouldn't kill anyone at this moment. Only Light Axe, wielding his massive axe, swung it down at the Knife Edge.
Faced with this brutal attack, the Knife Edge had only two choices: either let go and dodge or take the hit along with his hostage. He didn't want to take the hit, nor did he want to let go of his hard-earned captive. So he chose a third option: wait for support.
Support arrived instantly. Without anyone noticing, a figure in a black cloak and full black armor had already blocked the path of Light Axe's blade.
Seeing someone blocking his way, Light Axe, with his one-track mind, had no intention of letting go. He bared a bloodthirsty smile, his pupils constricting with excitement. His thirst for blood had made him impatient.
As the axe was about to strike, Medusa timely sounded the alarm. The Dawn Armor II, with its 7400-pound impact resistance, could not withstand such a brutal attack. The vampire's powerful arm and the heavy axe, a cold weapon, could tear through the Dawn II armor.
Unfortunately, the Dawn Armor was always more of a showpiece. In the eyes of its user, Zhou Yi never relied on this to be a superhero. The Dawn Knight was not famous just for his armor.
In the most unlikely situation, Zhou Yi reached out and grabbed the large axe of Light Axe. The blade, upon contact with the hand armor, sparked brightly. Zhou Yi felt the blade cut through the armor and touch his skin, but it stopped there.
His body was definitely harder than the armor, a fact Zhou Yi never doubted.
The momentum of the large axe was halted. In Zhou Yi's hand, it seemed like a fool trying to split a rock, only to get stuck.
Light Axe had never expected this. He struggled to move the axe, but it remained immobile, as if rooted to the ground. He saw the blade deforming, the hard metal twisting and deforming like clay, oozing out from the gaps between the fingers. In that moment, he realized he had made a big mistake, but it was too late.
Zhou Yi took advantage of the situation, using the principle of leverage from the most unlikely place. He applied force to the blade, lifting Light Axe's massive body off the ground. Before he could react, Zhou Yi threw him, axe and all, into an old car.
The heavy body and the force of the throw not only shattered the car's roof but also destroyed half of its undercarriage. From a practical standpoint, this old car was likely beyond repair. In comparison, Light Axe, with a bloody and bruised head, looked relatively normal.
The Knife Edge, holding Reihart, took out a delicate device. One end was a sharp hook, and the other was a miniature signal receiver. He pressed the device onto the back of Reihart's head, and the hook immediately pierced his flesh, securing it in place.
"This is an explosive device," the Knife Edge said, his face grim, as he pulled out a button. "It contains silver nitrate. I'm curious to see if a pureblood's head, when blown up and sprinkled with silver nitrate, will die. You can help me with this. Just press this button, or if anyone touches this little thing, it will..."
He made an explosion gesture, which immediately made Reihart stop reaching for the back of his head. He glared at the Knife Edge, then suddenly twisted his leg, realigning the dislocated bone, and walked back to the vampire camp without a word.
This round clearly gave the vampires a taste of the Knife Edge and Dawn's power.
Seeing Virene and the priest lifting Light Axe, the Knife Edge walked to the Dawn Knight's side, his face grim, and whispered.
"That was my favorite car. I treated it like a wife!"
"Sorry!" Zhou Yi looked at the Knife Edge in surprise and apologized. "I'll compensate you. If you have a favorite car, just give me the bill."
"I'll remember that." The Knife Edge, having received the compensation he wanted, walked away without a word. The vampires watched the two whispering, never imagining that they had just made a deal over an old car. Perhaps in their minds, these two vampire hunters were still discussing the outcome of their direct confrontation.
Whether human or vampire, they always felt good about themselves. They wouldn't understand that these two didn't take them seriously. The only ones they truly feared were the other species, not these vampires.
However, being misunderstood had its benefits. At least the vampires became more restrained. The two's performance was enough to intimidate their arrogance.
Seeing the vampires' reaction, the Knife Edge silently smiled. He looked at the vampire leader, Nisha.
"How do you plan to find those other species? Are you going to walk into the alleys boldly, with a sign on your back saying 'Come eat me'?"
The Knife Edge never cared how harsh his words were to the vampires. Perhaps he considered verbal attacks part of his job. However, Zhou Yi suspected it was more of a racial trait.
"I searched the entire red-light district of Manhattan and other hidden places last night. There was nothing, except for the traces left after the attacks. They have a unified strategy and command. When they're not hunting, they completely blend in. If you can't find them, everything will be in vain."
Zhou Yi's words seemed to question, but they also indirectly helped Nisha. At least she didn't have to directly face the Knife Edge's sharp words.
Nisha looked deeply at Zhou Yi and explained her plan.
"To catch the hunter, you must first target their prey. These other species, while not picky, seem to prefer vampires over humans. From Chadnom's behavior, it seems he wants to target vampires more. In other words, vampires are the primary target of these other species."
"My father has ordered all vampires to abandon their other blood nests and leave only one for their use. Unless they stay at home, they must go to this blood nest to enjoy the feast. At that time, the blood nest will be the only place in New York with a large number of vampires."
"They will have to go there; only there can meet their food needs. They spread too quickly, and ordinary numbers can no longer satisfy these other species." "Very good!" The Knife Edge clapped his hands. "What's the place called?"
"The House of Pain."
The two vampire hunters and a team of vampires soon arrived at the so-called House of Pain. It was a dilapidated apartment building, almost certainly uninhabited. The Knife Edge looked at the old, rundown building and asked his question.
"No sign, no vampire statues, no vampire symbols. This is your largest blood nest?"
"Because of you, we had to change our habits." Nisha handed him an infrared imaging device. Inside, a special symbol visible only in infrared could be seen clearly.
"Very good, the House of Pain. I'll remember that. I'll definitely visit often." The Knife Edge grinned, showing great interest.
Being visited often by the Knife Edge was not a good thing for vampires. Nisha ignored the provocative tone and walked to Zhou Yi.
"Dawn Knight, you can't go in like that." She pointed to the most conspicuous part of Zhou Yi's armor. "Your appearance will expose our presence."
"Are there no cross-dressing vampires among the vampires?" Zhou Yi looked at his armored hands and asked.
Nisha rolled her eyes, and the Knife Edge said happily, "Buddy, believe me. There are no cool cross-dressing vampires like you. Their taste is too poor."
Zhou Yi shrugged, pulled his cloak over his body, and a strange light flickered. He disappeared from the sight of several people.
"Awesome! Optical camouflage system." Josh, the most tech-savvy, called out the name of the technology the Dawn Knight demonstrated. "I thought this technology was only in military budgets, but I didn't expect it to already have a prototype. Buddy, your level is amazing!"
"Thank you!" Nisha's back echoed the low voice of the Dawn Knight, his invisible presence making everyone more fearful. No one wanted to be secretly attacked by an invisible person.
"Let's go!" Zhou Yi smiled, his laughter like a breeze, putting the vampire guards on high alert while also secretly feeling relieved. For now, at least, both sides were on the same team.
