Chapter 38

In front of the priest, the creature he had been searching for finally appeared. This made the priest, who had indulged in drinking, feel a bit of joy in his heart.

As the only vampire from the previous century still alive today, the priest had experienced many things and always had a mindset of living for the moment. He preferred drinking to killing. Over a century had almost worn out his passion. Unable to achieve what he desired, he could only seek solace in the dreamlike state created by alcohol.

Joining the Blood Clan Guard was purely due to his accumulated experience over a long period. Compared to other elite warriors, he was more of a filler. Vampires, unlike humans, had a very small base. So small that even talented individuals were pitifully scarce.

The priest's experience had always helped him survive well. But this time, his experience was of no help.

Silver bullets shot out from the submachine gun in his hand, and his precise shooting skills ensured that almost no bullet was wasted. This was something only a highly skilled old gunner could do, but it was useless against his opponent.

The dense bullets only opened a few wounds oozing pus on the creature's body, with no other effect.

After a short sprint, the creature had already rushed to the priest's front.

The creature's speed surprised the priest, who didn't have time to adjust his gun. He simply swung the butt of the gun and smashed it into the creature's head.

The gun butt hit the creature's head as he had expected, but it didn't cause the damage he had imagined. It didn't even make the creature dazed, let alone knock it down.

The creature, fierce like a wild beast, stiffened its neck to withstand the gun butt and, with a swing of its hand, knocked the submachine gun out of the priest's hand.

Suddenly losing his weapon, the priest felt a bit panicked. However, being an experienced warrior, he took advantage of the creature's hand not retracting and punched the creature's temple.

This method, which was fatal to humans and somewhat effective for vampires, was completely useless against the creature. Their bodies had already mutated into another form.

The priest's fatal punch only made the creature's head tilt. Then, the creature grabbed the priest's neck and, with a powerful swing, lifted him up. The priest's body flew across half the dance floor and even broke through a thin wall before landing on the ground.

This exaggerated scene immediately caught the attention of Yukio, who was not far away. He pressed the hilt of his sword and crouched, running towards the priest. However, another creature blocked his path. Yukio, unable to break through, could only watch as the creature, agile like a monkey, jumped into the wall that the priest had broken through.

At this moment, Yukio could only pray that the priest would find a way to save himself, as he had to focus all his attention on the creature in front of him.

After witnessing the priest's miserable state, Yukio naturally didn't think these creatures were the same as the ones they usually hunted. The strength displayed by the creature was enough to surprise him. This was a dangerous battle.

Steadying his mind, Yukio launched the first attack.

He took a few steps and then suddenly accelerated when he was less than ten meters away from the creature. With the speed of a pureblood vampire, this distance was like an arrow leaving the bow, incredibly fast.

However, the creature's speed was not much different. It also charged at Yukio, and its speed was even faster.

This performance surprised Yukio, but it didn't cause him to panic. He was a true elite warrior trained in samurai swordsmanship. Being able to join the Blood Clan Guard with only cold weapon melee skills among many vampire warriors was a testament to his skill and temperament.

He drew his katana with the scabbard, using the momentum to slash down at the creature that had charged in front of him. No one wants to be hit for no reason, and the creature was no exception. It directly blocked the katana with its hand, and its fingers curled, firmly gripping the scabbard. Yukio's eyes showed a hint of mockery, and he quickly twisted and pulled, the bright katana instantly leaving the scabbard. Then, he spun around, and the blade cut down with the momentum.

Like a hot blade slicing through butter, the bright blade felt no resistance. With the creature's scream, a forearm fell to the ground with the blade.

The pain from losing an arm made the creature unleash its wild nature. It roared, and its lower jaw split into a shape like an insect's mouth, with a tongue resembling a petal visible inside. Then, it opened its mouth and pounced at Yukio from the air.

This action was like a fierce predator hunting, but the terrifying mouth gave a monstrous feeling, making it clear that he was facing a monster, not an animal.

Yukio remained calm. He was not moved by the creature's terrifying appearance. Facing the creature's pounce, he quickly retreated, holding the katana and closely observing the distance between them.

This was a quality possessed by a high-level swordsman, as they had everything under control in their minds. Under Yukio's deliberate control, the creature's pounce was clearly ineffective. The powerful attack only dissipated its kinetic energy on the floor, serving no other purpose.

After the failed pounce, the creature instinctively looked for its target. And in that moment, the blade cut through the air. In an instant, half of the creature's mouth and part of its lower jaw were sliced off, making its face even more grotesque.

Repeatedly injured, the creature instinctively felt something was wrong. But it still stubbornly pounced forward, a pounce that could be described as a burst of hidden potential under pain. The speed and power were enough to surprise Yukio.

However, because it was a burst of pain, the accuracy was hard to guarantee. Yukio easily dodged, and the creature passed over him without causing any harm.

As an experienced warrior, Yukio didn't want to stay on the ground for even a second, as it meant more danger. He quickly stood up, but even this speed was a bit late. A gust of wind came from behind.

Without turning around, Yukio knew the creature was pouncing again. He still remembered the surrounding terrain and could even deduce which points the creature used to pounce back.

This insight made his mind as calm as water and his blade as cold as frost. He held the katana backward and thrust it, the sensation from the blade clearly telling him he had hit a vital point, even piercing the stomach. Indeed, a painful roar came from behind.

He followed up with an elbow strike to the creature's chest, the force of the impact pushing them apart. The creature, slowed by the katana in its body, was no longer a threat, but Yukio was not.

A series of elbow strikes, quick and powerful, forced the creature to retreat, unable to defend itself. Soon, Yukio had cornered the creature against the wall. When he stopped his attacks, a considerable distance had opened between them.

At this moment, the creature looked weak and powerless. Its injuries were severe, but not fatal. This surprised Yukio, but only slightly. It was time to deliver the final blow.

He accelerated, using the momentum to leap into the air. A series of three flying kicks directly hit the creature. The creature, now without the strength to dodge or defend, could only endure.

The first kick hit the creature's head, making it start to lose balance. The second kick hit between its shoulder and chest, the force lifting it off the ground. The third kick hit the hilt of the katana in its abdomen, the blade piercing deeper and tearing its internal organs. With a metallic clang, the creature was pinned to the wall by the katana.

This series of attacks was terrifying for the creature, especially the last one, which was fatal. The creature let out an unprecedented scream, a sign of impending death.

Yukio thought this would kill the creature, but the reality proved that this unprecedented vampire creature had an incredibly resilient life force.

Even with severe injuries and almost depleted energy, the creature still burst with resilience. It screamed, using its remaining limbs to climb the wall and escape.

This mad action almost tore its lower abdomen, even exposing its internal organs, which spilled onto the ground. But even so, it didn't die, quickly disappearing into the shadows on the wall.

This bizarre scene made Yukio feel uneasy. He pulled out his katana, looked at the blade for a moment, and then spat, quickly running towards the priest.

However, when he saw the priest, it was clear he was in no condition to fight.

A creature had its mouth wide open, tearing at the priest's neck. As a vampire, Yukio could even smell the blood, but this time it was the blood of his fellow vampire and teammate, being consumed by a monster.

Yukio gripped his katana and slowly approached. The creature, however, was very alert. It heard the noise, looked up, and saw Yukio. When it saw the dirty liquid on Yukio's blade, it let out a few roars, then, like a wild beast, climbed the wall on all fours and quickly disappeared.

Clearly, having finished its meal, it didn't want to fight a dangerous opponent. This showed the creature's instinct to seek benefits and avoid harm.

Yukio couldn't catch up to or didn't want to chase this seemingly invincible monster. He just looked at the still twitching priest and said into his earpiece, "The priest is injured! Repeat, the priest is injured."

"Damn it!" Gouax tore off his earpiece, blaming his missed shots on his teammate's interference. Seeing the creature in front of him, he roared and swung his large hammer down.
