Chapter 2

The Star Moon Guild currently has a full team of a hundred gold farmers, so they don't mind having one more. After signing the formal contract, Lu Li, as he wished, received the cheapest game helmet.

At the beginning when the game was not yet widespread, even the cheapest game helmet cost 30,000 yuan. The Lu family siblings, who would haggle over ten yuan, definitely couldn't afford to buy a helmet.

Three days passed in the blink of an eye. On the evening of September 1, 2215, the most outstanding virtual game, "Dawn," opened globally.

"Brother, good luck!" The little girl jumped around, extremely excited.

Lu Li kissed her little face, lay down on the bed, and put on the helmet. A tingling sensation spread from his head throughout his body, and his consciousness gradually blurred.

"System detection in progress..."

"First login, iris scan, binding in progress... DNA analysis, identity binding, bank card binding..."

After the metallic voice, Lu Li found himself in a spacious hall, surrounded by over a dozen large screens. Each screen displayed an image that looked exactly like him.

"The VII-type game helmet has been bound to you. Welcome to Dawn. In the distant Dark Age... a new chapter unfolds, and the Azeroth continent enters an era of factional conflict..."

"Dear player, would you like to start creating an account?"

"Yes..."

"First, please choose your faction. In the war-torn Azeroth continent, the evil faction and the light faction are in opposition..."

"Light faction!"

"You have chosen the light faction. Humans, dwarves, night elves... seven races are open to you..."

"Night elf!"

...Ten seconds later, a night elf that looked about 80% like Lu Li stood before him.

Night elves are roughly the same height as humans, but their skin color is slightly darker, and they have a pair of pointed ears. Compared to humans, the long-eared elves living in the forest have superior stealth and perception abilities.

(Note: The author has never passed math, so there won't be too many data details in the future.)

In his previous life, Lu Li's class was a Druid.

It can deal damage, heal, and even tank, but this doesn't mean Druids are particularly powerful. In fact, Druids are rarely found in the top ten rankings.

However, most gold farmers choose Druids because of their strong survival ability and minimal resource consumption. When low on health, they can heal themselves, and when low on mana, they can transform and use their claws. They can also mine resources in places other players can't reach.

This time, however, Lu Li chose the Rogue class.

Rogues are the kings of PvP, with many control skills and explosive power. They can engage in combat at will and retreat when necessary. Rogues are also great for making money, opening treasure chests, mining, and gathering herbs in places other players can't reach.

Although Lu Li didn't play a Rogue in his previous life, he was very interested in the class and had read many guides. He was confident he could play it well, especially since his Rogue was destined to be extraordinary.

"You have chosen a melee class. Please select an operation mode..."

Regarding the operation mode, the official website has a special explanation, mainly offering three modes: Smart, Semi-Free, and Free.

Each mode has its pros and cons, but they are generally considered to increase in difficulty.

In his previous life, when playing a Druid, Lu Li had practiced the Free mode for a while with the leopard and bear forms, so he knew how difficult it was.

However, he also knew that almost all melee experts used the Free or Semi-Free mode!

"Confirm selection of Free mode!"

"Confirm entry into the game!"

After a dizzying sensation, Lu Li opened his eyes and found himself in a dark canyon, surrounded by towering trees that almost completely blocked the sky. The real world, which had been ravaged to the extreme, could never have such scenery.

The birthplace was next to a large treehouse, with several NPCs standing around, indistinguishable from real people except for their in-game elf appearance.

In his field of vision, there were more players.

The Shadowglen is one of the many birthplaces for elf players, and all elf players from the Star Moon Guild choose to start here.

After checking his attributes, Lu Li decided to start with a quest.

At level 0, there are three quests: 30 wild boar piglet teeth from the blacksmith, 30 nightblade cub pelts from the tailor, both monster-killing quests; the third quest is to retrieve a kite stuck in a tree for the orphan Rayne and return it to him.

Lu Li didn't bother with the first two quests but quickly took the third quest, "Rayne's Request," and ran to the back mountain. Along the way, he avoided monsters whenever possible, and if he couldn't avoid them, he pushed through, eating bread when his health was low.

Small bread, usage: restores 30 health over 8 seconds, must be eaten while sitting.

The system provided five, and they cost 5 copper coins each in the store, making them very precious and generally unaffordable for most people.

Fortunately, monsters below the elite level don't chase players indefinitely, and leaving the aggro range allows you to disengage, so Lu Li managed to reach the back mountain smoothly.

The task item "kite" for "Rayne's Request" was hanging on a tree at the foot of the mountain. Jumping from the nearby rocks to the tree, he could almost reach it.

This was a very large kite. The challenge wasn't finding it and taking it down but the respawn time.

Imagine tens of thousands or more Shadowglen elf players all needing this task item, which only respawns every half hour. This is how frustrating it is.

Rayne's kite was initially considered the most frustrating task in Shadowglen!

Fortunately, Lu Li had already obtained the task item.

However, he didn't go to turn in the quest.

Because he didn't take the kite to complete the quest.
