"Where are you now? I'll come over right away." It was Square Root Three from the Star Moon Guild. Lu Li's spirits were lifted; he hadn't expected the Seal of Transformation: Seal to drop so quickly. The power of a guild was indeed much greater than that of an individual.
If he had to farm it alone, he might not have been able to get the skill book even after three days.
"By the Reflection Lake. I farmed it by following your advice to farm the Lesser Imps," Square Root Three joked, "Since you know how to farm the Seal of Transformation: Seal, can you tell me how to farm the Taming skill book?"
Taming was a Hunter's bread and butter skill. Only after learning Taming and getting a pet would a Hunter become a true Hunter.
"To farm the Taming skill book, you need to farm the Level 6 monsters on the back mountain—the Jungle Wolves. They drop two Hunter skill books, 'Taming' and 'Pet Revival,' as well as the Druid skill 'Transform: Wolf,' the Mage skill 'Fireball,' the Rogue skill 'Backstab,' and if you're lucky, maybe even the Warrior skill 'Shield Bash.'"
Damn, I spoke too quickly. As soon as the words were out, Lu Li regretted it. He was just too excited about getting the Seal of Transformation: Seal.
A Rogue's blood should be cold; he must remain calm in the future.
Square Root Three had just asked casually, never expecting an answer, let alone such a detailed one.
'Shield Bash'!
If the Shield Bash skill really dropped, then defensive classes would no longer be useless and unsightly burdens. They could form a party to farm the Level 3 Spider Den dungeon.
After repeatedly farming these monsters, the Nightblade Panther Fur quest had long been completed. Lu Li immediately set off for Reflection Lake.
In the game history of 'Dawnlight,' the Wild Spirit Aisena, "in a process she herself couldn't remember in detail," created the Lesser Imps and granted them Reflection Lake as their habitat.
Aisena was also a demigod, and there had been rumors that she was the mate of Cenarius, the mother of the Dryad sisters and the Jungle Guardians. However, neither she nor the King of the Forest had ever confirmed or denied these rumors.
Perhaps due to the creator's lack of seriousness, the Lesser Imps were rather ugly. They often chanted, "This is our territory, intruders must die," while casting fireballs at intruders.
In fact, these fierce-looking little monsters were herbivores; their food was moss.
The Corrupted Magic Moss quest required finding and collecting twenty quest items in the Lesser Imps' territory.
Before long, Lu Li found Square Root Three, but he wasn't alone. He was with two other guild members, one a Mage and the other, surprisingly, a Druid!
The Druid, "I Am Rich," glared at Lu Li. The team had dropped a Druid skill book, and he had assumed it would be his, but the team leader had given it to a Rogue.
Could he not be resentful?
Lu Li knew this Druid, a wealthy second-generation heir who was obsessed with saving face. His most famous act was offering a bounty for the head of the top Rogue, "Water Sprite," because the latter wouldn't sell him his good equipment.
That incident had caused quite a stir at the time, but the specific reasons were not worth mentioning.
"Here's the skill book you wanted," Square Root Three handed the skill book to Lu Li. After the transaction, he didn't leave, still skeptical about Lu Li's claim of getting the skill book for a friend.
In 'Dawnlight,' there were indeed some public skill books that all classes could learn, but the Seal of Transformation: Seal, a skill with a strong class characteristic, was definitely not one of them.
"I have a staff here; I'll give it to you to offset the cost of this skill book," Lu Li didn't satisfy their curiosity, putting the skill book in his backpack and taking out the staff he had just obtained.
The staff had a wide range of uses, usable by Mages, Warlocks, Priests, and Druids.
"What a joke, a white item to offset a skill book? Are you crazy!" I Am Rich glanced at it and immediately protested.
"You can choose not to take it," Lu Li didn't bother explaining how powerful the staff was or how useless the Seal of Transformation: Seal was.
"Enough," I Am Rich might be a fool, but Square Root Three wasn't. He held back the heir and took the staff, "Let's call it even. Do you want to level up with us?"
"I don't need to for now. I'll just complete a gathering quest and leave," Lu Li didn't really want to team up with them. On one hand, he didn't want to expose his secrets, and on the other, he wanted to practice his skills alone.
Grouping up for practice was all about efficiency, and others had no obligation to help him improve his skills. Besides, he didn't like these arrogant and self-important elites.
He still had 8% experience left. After turning in the two quests, he would level up to 2 and could learn an important Rogue skill—Ambush—from a trainer. After learning Ambush, leveling up as a Rogue would become much more efficient.
Ambush: Instant cast, causes the target to be stunned for 4 seconds. Must be used in Stealth mode. Grants 2 combo points.
Although it did no damage, the 4-second stun from Ambush gave Rogues a bit of the flavor of a control master. Whether in PVE or PVP, this skill was the starting move for most Rogue players in Stealth mode.
Unfortunately, this skill could not be upgraded.
Square Root Three, as the diplomat of the Star Moon Guild, was relatively easy to talk to. He didn't get angry when Lu Li refused, but I Am Rich's expression was not pleasant.
This heir was used to getting his way and being adored by everyone. Today, not only did he not get his class skill book, but he was also rebuked by Lu Li. If it weren't for Square Root Three, he would have wanted to gather some people from the guild to deal with Lu Li.
After completing the gathering, Lu Li returned to the village and turned in the Nightblade Panther Cub, Nightblade Panther Fur, and Corrupted Magic Moss quests, successfully leveling up to 2 and learning the Ambush skill.
Of course, the cost was that his recently silver-coin wealth was reduced back to copper coins.
This game was like that; the money you earned was never enough. Learning skills, repairing equipment, buying potions—there were always reasons for your wallet to shrink.
Lu Li didn't forget the Seal of Transformation: Seal in his backpack. Although it wasn't a Rogue skill, it would still appear in his skill bar after learning it.
Seal of Transformation: Seal: Instant cast, transforms you into a seal, an adept swimmer. You can explore underwater for 20 minutes, with a 30-minute cooldown. Swimming speed increases by 50%, threat generation decreases by 30%, and you gain the ability to breathe underwater. You cannot use attack skills while transformed. Current level 1/1000.
To be honest, the Seal of Transformation: Seal was a terrible skill, one of the least notable among the Druid's many skills.
Its utility was limited.
Most Druids learned this skill solely to gather herbs and mine underwater.
What a seal form could do, regular players could achieve with an underwater breathing potion, and they could still use attack skills freely.
But this time, it was different. Lu Li was a Rogue, a Rogue who could transform into a seal.
This was the reason he had confidently promised the Star Moon Studio that he would earn 20 gold within a week—because he was a Rogue who could transform into a seal!
Approaching Reflection Lake from a secluded corner in Stealth mode, Lu Li looked around. A ripple spread across the water, and he disappeared beneath the surface.
