……How did it come to this?
I raised my face and looked up at the building. There, hanging down, was the sign for "Tauron Guild." From today, this place would be my workplace, but why did I end up in such a situation? An explanation is necessary.
It all started in my previous life. I was a mediocre student, living a life without any complaints, just idly passing the days.
The accident came as a bolt from the blue. I was hit by a car that ran a red light while on my way to work. When I came to, there was a boy claiming to be a god standing in front of me.
"Would you like to be reincarnated in another world? I can give you any abilities you want."
He said this casually, and the words that slipped out of my mouth were, "Just make me able to do anything."
Thinking back to my childhood, where I had no special talents and was constantly mocked, what was wrong with wishing for that? No, I should honestly apologize. I was in such a state of confusion from the sudden turn of events.
"That sounds interesting? It's fine with me. After all, it's a new start. Enjoy it to the fullest."
And so, I was born as the eldest son of the Setten family.
The Setten family were blacksmiths, and from a young age, I grew up surrounded by iron and sparks. In this world, magic existed, and I practiced my magical abilities from a young age.
Magic had attributes of "Fire, Wind, Water, Earth" and special attributes of "Healing, Space, Spirit, Summoning," as well as ancient attributes of "Ice, Lightning." I could use all of them, and I had a natural aptitude for all weapons.
I have never been more grateful to the god.
To lead a glorious life in this new world, I mastered swordsmanship, axe skills, spear techniques, archery, and even hand-to-hand combat. The Setten family had an abundance of practice weapons.
By the time I turned 13, there was no weapon I couldn't handle. I was getting cocky. To my embarrassment, my catchphrase at the time was, "I'm going to be a hero!"
In the spring of my 16th year, I finally left home to become an adventurer. After all, when you think of another world, you think of adventurers. You can only truly experience another world through adventure. My mother was in tears. My father, saying, "Do as you please," didn't even come to see me off. I knew I was being a disobedient child, but I had things I wanted to do.
The nearest adventurer guild was in a town called Rant. Starting as an F-rank adventurer, I quickly succeeded thanks to my abilities. I became a topic of conversation within the guild, and my rank rose rapidly.
It was all going well. ……It was all going well.
The adventurer guild ranks from F to S. You can take on solo quests up to C-rank, but beyond that, you need to form a party to accept quests.
I searched for companions, but for some reason, no one would add me to their party. Then, I learned a shocking fact.
"Huh? You're an all-rounder, right? All-rounders can do everything, but their abilities have a lower cap. We're aiming for S-rank, so we can't add someone like you."
Those were the words of a certain party leader.
Ah… Is that so? …I didn't know that… Haha.
I became a loner, and my rapid progress in the new world came to a halt. …I had secretly taken down S-rank level monsters that weren't even part of quests. …If I can't accept them, it's meaningless. …Haha.
Even after that, no matter how much I tried to show off my strength, no party would take me seriously.
Then, an adventurer guild staff member approached me.
"You'd make a good guild staff member. Why don't you go to the capital and get the qualifications?"
It sounded like a voice from heaven.
"Is it okay for an all-rounder?"
"Of course! I'm an all-rounder too (sparkle)."
"I'm going to the capital!!"
I had earned plenty of money as an adventurer. I studied for three years at a school in the capital to become a guild staff member, and at the age of 20, in the spring, I officially started working at the adventurer guild.
And the place I was assigned to was the guild in the adventurer town of Tauron.
It was rumored to be the most challenging guild during my studies, and those who were assigned there often quit within a year.
I was assigned to the "Adventurer Management Department" of the Tauron Adventurer Guild.
And now, I stand in front of the Tauron Adventurer Guild.
Looking back, a lot has happened. It wasn't supposed to be like this. …I was supposed to freely explore the world. Why did it end up like this? Where did I go wrong?
Thinking about it now is pointless. I pulled myself together, put my hand on the door, and entered with a burst of energy.
