How much time has passed...

I remember, why did that Yezi want to harm me?

Wujiao woke up from his coma, not yet able to see the surroundings clearly, but he felt a fragrant scent and a soft body sitting beside him. His heart raced, and he felt dizzy again, but due to the previous experience, he didn't dare to move, only opening his eyes slightly to peek.

In the dim light, he saw two young women sitting cross-legged, whispering softly—

"Sister! My magic is exhausted, and I don't know how you are?"

"Two hours of meditation, and I have recovered about thirty percent of my strength. It's fine to move now..."

"That's good! That damned scholar is so stubborn, he actually led us here. Look at the chicken feathers and bones on the ground; it must be a den of wild foxes and wolves. It's dirty and cramped, but if strong enemies catch up, we'll be seeking our own death..."

"Fortunately! Those two might have gone far..."

"The cultivators of Youxiong Kingdom are really rampant, pursuing us all the way here..."

"Enough! Lingxiasan is in Nanling, and we have old grudges with Youxiong Kingdom. It's inevitable to encounter unexpected events during this trip. Fortunately, we escaped, and we can consider it a training experience..."

"Sister is right! It's almost dawn, the rain has stopped, and the wind has ceased. We should set off early..."

"Okay!"

The two women, after talking to themselves, were about to get up and leave.

Someone suddenly spoke: "Why are the two ladies in such a hurry to leave? Are you afraid of the morning light?"

Yezi reached out to remove the luminous pearl, turned to look, and saw the scholar who should have been unconscious lying comfortably, blinking his eyes. She asked in confusion: "What do you mean? Who is afraid of the morning light?"

Ziyun, startled, hurriedly moved to avoid. However, the space was cramped, and she was a bit flustered for a moment.

Wujiao regretted his words but couldn't bear to see the beauties leave. Dazed and confused, he blurted out: "I remember someone mentioned that all ghosts and mountain spirits can't stand light, fearing that the yang energy will harm their yin bodies..."

Yezi immediately became angry: "Nonsense, I'll kill you..."

Curiosity continued: "If you're not a monster, how can you use magic?"

Ziyun sensed something was wrong and glanced over. She was also embarrassed but endured it, reaching out to stop Yezi: "Don't argue with him..."

Yezi, however, insisted: "A scholar should be polite, but he speaks filthily and reeks of yang-boosting drugs. He's clearly a beast in human form. What use is he..."

Wujiao lay there, unaware of the impending danger. In an instant, his face turned red with embarrassment. By the light of the pearl, he saw that his robe had risen in an awkward and conspicuous way.

Damn Qisanren, the soup he gives me every day is a yang-boosting drug?

This is so embarrassing!

Wujiao no longer dared to lie on the ground pretending. He sat up in one swift motion, his face full of embarrassment, and waved his hands: "I am a gentleman! Although I admire you, I have no improper thoughts..." He would have been better off not speaking. Before he finished, Yezi scolded: "A mere mortal like you, how dare you admire us? Pah..."

Ziyun said nothing, pulling Yezi out of the cave.

Wujiao was both embarrassed and angry, his face red with shame.

It's all because of Qisanren's drugs, I am innocent! And so what if I'm a mere mortal? Everyone has a love for beauty! Besides, I even saved you, how can you mock me like this?

Wujiao was about to argue, but the two sisters had already left. He, with a mix of concern and embarrassment, got up and chased after them. In a moment, he reached the cave entrance, and two white figures soared into the sky. He looked up in amazement and cautiously moved his feet.

Looking down through the gaps in the low bushes, there was a turbulent stream about ten zhang below. The "splash" of the water echoed through the mist, a frightening scene. Anyone who didn't know the truth would think the path was cut off and turn back, not realizing that there was a very hidden cave in the grass on the side of the cliff. If they came at night, they might fall and meet a tragic end...

Wujiao turned around and climbed up the hill with his hands and feet. He hadn't even stood up when he sighed in relief.

It was almost dawn, the light was dim. The rain that had lasted all night had stopped. The fierce wind had also ceased, and a light mist enveloped the surroundings. In the dreamlike scenery, the two white figures looked even more enchanting.

The sisters hadn't left...

Wujiao, covered in mud, got up and then froze.

A yard away in the grass, there were two shriveled corpses, a terrifying sight. They were probably the two villains from the night. Next to them were two small swords about a foot long and a sheathed short sword.

However, the clothing of the dead was not unfamiliar. Could it be...

Wujiao's back suddenly felt cold, and a hint of bitterness appeared in his eyes.

Ziyun and Yezi were still looking at each other, puzzled.

After a moment, Yezi, still shaken, said: "The blood and essence of these two have been devoured, perhaps by a powerful person passing by..." She looked around cautiously for a moment, seeing no abnormalities, and then waved her sleeve. The two small swords flew up and into her hands. After examining them, she said joyfully: "Excellent magical weapons..."

Ziyun took out a piece of animal skin, waved it, and then threw it. The skin caught fire in the wind, split into two, and landed on the corpses. With two soft "puffs," the corpses were gone, leaving only ashes in the grass. She then reached out and the sheathed short sword flew into her hand. She held the short sword, looking puzzled, and tried to draw it, but was surprised: "This sword is just ordinary iron, why does it have a bloody aura? And it won't come out of the sheath, very strange..."

Wujiao watched everything happening right in front of him, his face still pale and uneasy. After a moment, he sighed, calmed down, and couldn't help but admire them.

I thought they were weak women, but they have extraordinary skills. If they're not mountain spirits or ghosts, could they be two fallen fairies?

Wujiao took the opportunity to say: "Miss Ziyun, please let me explain..." He took two steps closer and said: "My father was a soldier, who killed many people in his life. The short sword he passed down has a killing aura, which is reasonable. It might be old and rusty, making it hard to draw. I keep it for courage..."

Ziyun glanced back and waved her sleeve.

Wujiao was gazing deeply when he suddenly felt the world around him become vast and beautiful. He was completely immersed in it, floating and lost, until the short sword flew to him, and he reached out to catch it.

Ziyun looked into the distance, saying softly: "Don't disturb the neighbors, it's important to set off quickly!" As she spoke, a faint light flashed around her, and her long hair and white dress, neither silk nor satin, floated without wind. The grass and dust fell silently, and the wound on her chest was still a bright red, like the stamen of a white lotus, delicate and charming.

Yezi, slightly shorter, was also slender and graceful. After nodding in understanding, the two small swords she held disappeared, and she took out another piece of animal skin, tapped it on her body, and a light flashed. Her feet left the ground, and she was about to fly.

Indeed, they are two fairies.

Wujiao exclaimed: "Fairy Ziyun..."

The beauty turned back, her gaze captivating, like a fleeting star, leaving a lingering impression.

Wujiao's heart raced, but he said insincerely: "Wish you a safe journey, hope to meet again..." He didn't finish his sentence and slapped his mouth. He wanted to say more, to express his admiration, but the words that came out were insincere, not his usual style at all!

Yezi looked at him disdainfully and hummed lightly.

Ziyun hesitated slightly, then threw something and said faintly: "Thank you for saving us, it's only right to repay you. If you are in trouble, you can come to Lingxiasan with this jade pendant for protection!" As she spoke, she didn't look back, took Yezi's hand, and they both floated away. In the misty morning, they were like fleeting shadows, quickly disappearing.

Wujiao was left alone, still gazing.

What more could I ask for? If I could fly with two fairies, enjoying the beauty of nature, this life would be worth living! But to miss them today is truly regrettable!

However, the fairy left something behind...

Wujiao's spirits lifted, and he searched the ground. After a moment, he found a white jade pendant.

The jade pendant was about three inches long, intricately carved, with the words "Lingxia" and "Ziyun" engraved on it. Clearly, it was Ziyun's personal item!

Wujiao held the jade pendant and couldn't help but smile.

Who says fairies are heartless? Leaving a token is a sign of affection! I don't know where Lingxiasan is, but it makes me yearn...

Wujiao put the jade pendant in his pocket, still seeing those captivating eyes in his mind. He smiled foolishly for a while, then picked up the short sword and walked back. As he left, he glanced at the ashes in the grass, still feeling a bit scared.

I don't know who killed those two villains, but it's a series of strange encounters! The skills of the two fairies are also impressive. Especially the way they burned the bodies, it's really frightening. Thinking about it now, everything seems like a dream...
