077 - Collective Battle in the 8th Floor of the Royal Capital Dungeon

In the cool morning air, a rough voice echoed.

"Why! Why won't Toi come back!?"

The voice belonged to Bakkas. He was questioning why I wasn't returning to Kelniff with the Duke, grabbing the front of my shirt.

"I've been asked to do something for the Duke."

"If Toi doesn't come back, what will happen to that? I can't wait any longer!"

More concerned about Gormodia than me. Truly, a man loyal to his desires.

Well, if a rough old man asks me to go back with him, I'd rather he just said he wants to train Gormodia, which would be more refreshing.

"Here, I prefer a two-handed sword."

"What, you're entrusting Gormodia to me? You should have said so earlier."

He took Gormodia from my hand as if snatching it, and rubbed his cheek against it, his bearded face... The scene is way too creepy. Do that where I can't see it.

Bakkas left in high spirits. Thanks to Bakkas, my Job: Drunkard's level has risen to 20. Still, I can't keep up with Bakkas's drinking. He's a monster, at least when it comes to alcohol.

Looking around the Duke's mansion, there are servants managing the house and guards and soldiers, but it feels much larger than before.

"Shall we go?"

"Hai."

We haven't found the evidence to bring Grissom to ruin. Thinking too hard isn't good, so we decided to enter the dungeon for the first time in a while.

"Yamato, don't do anything weird to Itsukushima."

"Don't worry, I won't."

"If Itsukushima is done anything weird by Yamato, say it immediately. I'll bury it in darkness."

"Un. I'll ask you then."

"Isn't my treatment a bit harsh!?"

Yamato is making a fuss, but I'll ignore it, ignore it.

We entered the entrance of the dungeon, a building like the Parthenon.

This time, we're exploring the 8th floor. We want to head to the 10th floor as soon as possible. The princess's promise is to defeat 1,000 monsters on the 10th floor.

We immediately moved to the 8th floor using Dungeon Move. Well, what kind of monsters will appear?

"Koron and Karon, just attack once and don't overdo it."

I spoke to the two who were surprised by the Dungeon Move. They can't leak information due to the magic contract, so they can be at ease.

Koron, the older sister, fights with two short swords, a dual-wielding short sword version.

Her stats are high in DEX and AGI, meaning her accuracy and evasion are high.

She has been using short swords since she was a villager because of her small size. She became a Dual Short Sword Warrior because she was originally dexterous and could use two short swords.

"Hai."

Karon, the younger sister, is a heavily armored front-line type with high STR and VIT. She uses a massive battle axe, as tall as her and with a large blade.

She is tall with a solid build and long arms, giving her a long reach with the battle axe.

Her Job is a Heavy Warrior, which can handle any two-handed weapon, whether it's a battle axe, a two-handed sword, or a war hammer.

"Understood!"

Even if an attack hits, you can get experience points even without dealing damage. Koron is level 13 and Karon is level 12, so if they get hit, they might be sent to the other world in one hit. Especially Koron, who is lightly armored, is in danger. So, we'll level them up without overdoing it.

The 8th floor is different from the previous floors, not a tropical rainforest inside a cave. The cave remains the same, but the forest is gone, and there are large, rugged rocks creating blind spots. Moreover, there is a river flowing, but its current is very fast and turbulent.

As we advanced with Burs's guidance, we sensed something.

"We'll be engaging the enemy soon. Stay focused."

"Ha!"

We tightened our focus and confirmed our formation before advancing.

The enemies that appeared were merfolk with fish heads and human bodies. They wielded various weapons like spears, swords, and staves. Their bodies were covered in armor-like scales, making them look hard.

"The ones with staves will use magic."

The merfolk were Soldiers (two-handed swords), Lancers (spears), Knights (shields and one-handed swords), Magicians (staves), and Archers (bows). There were 20 of them. For a first encounter with a new monster, this is quite a high hurdle, especially with Koron and Karon in the party.

"We can handle it. We'll retreat if it gets too bad."

"Saying you'll retreat with such confidence is a bit much."

Gandalban chuckled, and the two hastily bowed.

"We can handle 20. Let us try."

"If Gandalban says so, it's fine. Solidia, can you summon more familiars?"

"Hai, leave it to me."

I changed my main Job to Enchanter and my sub Job to Reincarnated Hero, and enchanted everyone.

"Alright, go!"

"Ha!"

Gandalban charged forward, shaking his massive body. Jojoku, Rin, and Rosalina followed, and the four Reis Solidia summoned floated behind them.

Twang, twang, arrows shot from the poison bows. The poisoned arrows were perfect for disrupting the group's coordination. The movements of the merfolk hit by the arrows clearly worsened.

"Thunder Rain!"

Annelise's magic devastated the merfolk. A few that were hit by the poisoned arrows were finished off.

The Merfolk Magician cast a water spear. Gandalban blocked it with his Death Knight Shield. It was clearly visible.

"Saint Attack"

I supported with magic, taking down one of them.

"Ha!"

Rin moved acrobatically, dodging the Soldier's two-handed sword and countering with a spear thrust.

"Gotcha!"

Rosalina slipped into the gap left by the spear and punched the Soldier five times. The Soldier, blown away, fell and didn't move. Good teamwork.

"Rose, please."

I summoned Rose, my contracted lower-level thorn spirit, to restrain the merfolk surrounding Gandalban. The merfolk were immobilized by the thorns that emerged from the ground.

The Magicians in the back cast spells. Only water-based magic, but it was still a hindrance.

"Annelise, can you attack those two Magicians?"

There was a distance between Gandalban and the others, so my magic wouldn't reach.

"Leave it to me."

Annelise's magic can reach. She is truly the Sage of Love.

Annelise's mithril staff overflowed with magic.

"Cyclone Cutter"

A tornado formed, engulfing the two Magicians. Tossed around by the tornado, they bled from all over, and their limbs were shredded. It was quite a gory scene.

But the Magicians were gone. Now it was just close combat.

"Koron, Karon, go."

"Ha!"

With Rose's thorns restraining the merfolk, there should be openings for the two to exploit.

While Gandalban and the others took down the remaining merfolk, Koron and Karon chipped away at them.

In the end, the Reis Solidia summoned finished off the Knight. Twenty was quite a lot, but this 8th floor might mainly feature such group battles.

The dropped items were 18 D-rank magic stones, one two-handed sword, and one spear the merfolk had. The weapons were all magic swords and magic spears with effects. Jojoku and Rin would use them, but I have enchanted weapons. Moreover, I have the magic sword and magic spear from the princess. The order of performance is: weapons from the princess > my enchanted weapons > dropped items, so we decided to cash them in at the guild.

By the way, the magic sword Salaman I received, being stored in the royal treasure house, was quite high in performance. I intended to use it as a replacement for my mithril two-handed sword, but I didn't expect to make Enchanter my main Job.
