After waking up, it was already noon the next day. This place should be Great Sage's home, but they were not there. Wang Yong washed his face to clear his head and then called Du Zhiyou. Among the three, Liu Meizi had already started working at the accounting firm, and Du Zhiyou and Zhuang Yaosheng had just arrived at the store. Wang Yong declined their invitation to stay, saying they would meet again next time, and hurriedly drove home.
When he got home, he was met with a barrage of complaints from Auntie as he entered the house.
"Auntie, I promise, if I don't come back next time, I'll definitely let you know."
"You, really, you're so grown up but still cause worry. If you're going to play with friends, you should at least let the family know. Yesterday, your Uncle called twice, and a woman answered, saying you were drunk and staying in the city for the night. By the way, who is that girl? What does she look like? Does she have a boyfriend?"
"Auntie, she's my high school classmate's wife. They're getting married at the end of the year."
"Oh, she's already taken. Auntie is telling you, you're not young anymore. Look at the kids in the village who are your age; they already have children running around. In a few days, Auntie will ask someone to introduce you to a girl. Get married as soon as possible, and it will be more reassuring to have someone by your side."
Amidst Auntie's affectionate nagging, Wang Yong awkwardly fled the house and headed towards the old house.
The greenhouse should be ready to build. This time, Wang Yong decided to use the 50,000 yuan set aside for Wang Liang's education. This would save money, and with the money he had on hand, building two greenhouses should be no problem. He thought about it and took out his phone to search online. He quickly found a bunch of companies that build greenhouses, and chose one from Shouguang, Shandong, known for its greenhouses. Seeing that they had a branch in his city, he called the number provided.
Soon, a man who introduced himself as Manager Li answered the phone. After a few pleasantries, they got straight to the point. Wang Yong explained his requirements, and Manager Li quickly gave him a quote. A one-acre pillarless greenhouse costs 50,000 yuan, so two would be 100,000 yuan. The worker's shed would cost an additional 8,000 yuan. The frame is made of stainless steel, guaranteed to last over 15 years.
Wang Yong didn't say much and agreed to meet Manager Li in two days to look at the site, with professional staff helping with planning and design to ensure the greenhouses are scientifically and reasonably built.
Two days passed quickly, and Wang Yong received a call from Manager Li early in the morning, saying they were almost at the village entrance. He told Auntie and hurried to the village entrance.
At the village entrance, he saw a Great Wall pickup truck parked by the small bridge, and three people were leaning on the railing, looking at the mountains in the distance. A middle-aged man, about 40 years old, turned around when he saw Wang Yong running over: "Are you Mr. Wang?"
"I'm Wang Yong. Don't call me Mr. Wang; I'm just a farmer. Just call me Wang Yong. Why don't we go home and rest for a bit? You must not have had breakfast yet. Let's eat something here."
"I'll call you Wang Yong. But we won't go to your home. It's the peak season for building greenhouses, and we need to go to the next place after checking here."
"At least come in for some water? It won't take long. Come on, let's go to my house."
"Wang Yong, we really can't today. We have an appointment in the morning. So we need to get to the site quickly."
Seeing that they insisted on going directly to the site, Wang Yong didn't argue. The four of them got into the car, and Wang Yong sat in the passenger seat to guide the driver.
"Why do you still have wheat at this time? It's so tall, shouldn't it be ripe by now? Winter wheat shouldn't be this tall, right?" the driver asked Wang Yong, puzzled.
"Oh, that's rice, not wheat," Wang Yong replied without even looking. He knew what was planted in the fields without needing to look. Because there was a small river in the village, they had been growing rice for about 20 years.
The driver's face turned red to the neck, feeling very embarrassed. Manager Li, with his rich social experience, quickly said, "You grow rice here? I've never heard of it."
"Only the areas near the river grow rice. The land is limited, and the yield is low. The rice produced is rarely sold outside the village; it's mostly for personal consumption. So, only the nearby villages know about it. Now, there might not be many people who know how to grow rice."
"Do you use pesticides for the rice?" the driver asked curiously.
"No, we also raise fish in the rice fields. If we used pesticides, how could we raise fish?"
They chatted and laughed as Wang Yong guided them to the old house.
"We're here. Park the car here. I'm renovating the old house in front, and there are all sorts of things piled up. Don't let your car get scratched. Please get out and walk a bit. The scenery in our village is unique," Wang Yong said to Manager Li and the others.
"Sure, don't think we're too delicate. We've been rooted in the countryside for years, and we serve farmers. We've seen all kinds of villages," the driver grumbled to Wang Yong.
They got out of the car and saw a large house of about 500 to 600 square meters at the foot of the mountain. Surrounded by the green mountains and fruit trees, it was partially hidden and visible. The morning mist had not yet dissipated, scattered by the playful wind, hanging on the trees, circling the roof, floating on the mountain paths, and hiding in the grass. The mist turned into tiny droplets, sprinkling on the road, in the trees, and on people's faces. It was light, sticky, and a bit damp, carrying the natural scent of various flowers and trees, making people feel a bit dazed. The chirping of birds could be heard from time to time, but their delicate figures were not visible.
"Oh, so beautiful!"
"Yes, this place is good. In winter, the mountain blocks the northwest wind, so the temperature here is 4 to 5 degrees higher than in other places," said a young man in his thirties who came with Manager Li.
"Wang Yong, let me introduce you. This is our company's technician, Li Yongxin, a master's graduate from China Agricultural University, specializing in plant protection. Now he mainly focuses on greenhouse research. In the past three years, he has designed and built over 500 greenhouses, and none of them have had any problems."
"Oh, so impressive? I'll trouble you today, Brother Li."
"No need to be polite. This is our job. Don't mention it. The location of your land is fine. Let's measure it to see the actual area."
The four of them, along with Uncle, worked for over an hour, collecting the necessary data. Manager Li and the others declined Wang Yong and Uncle's invitation to stay and hurriedly went to the next place.
Manager Li and his team were very efficient and provided the design plans in just three days. Wang Yong didn't understand design, so he handed everything over to Uncle. After they discussed it, Uncle confirmed everything was correct, and Wang Yong signed the contract. He then transferred 60,000 yuan to Manager Li's company account, finalizing the deal. Manager Li said they would mobilize the workforce within three days and complete the construction in about a week. Two days later, Manager Li brought two excavators to level the ground. Wang Yong couldn't help much, so Uncle took over.
