Wang Zhuang and Wang Zhi, one sixteen and the other fourteen, were about the same age as Li Su. The three of them had been childhood friends, growing up together and sharing a very close relationship.
They had done plenty of good deeds, but also a lot of mischief. Three idle teenagers living in a dull and boring little village, where the people they saw today were no different from those they saw yesterday and the day before. Even the occasional peddler passing through the village could excite them for half a day. In such a peaceful life, what else could these restless teenagers do besides good and mischief?
Wang Zhuang and Wang Zhi greeted Li Su warmly, without the usual formalities of bowing and saluting. Their kind of warmth involved playful punches and kicks, as if not beating each other up would not show how good their friendship was.
— Li Su really hoped they would be a bit more polite, after all, they weren't really that close.
The two brothers, one on each side, grabbed Li Su's arms and carried him out without any hesitation.
"What are you doing?" Li Su struggled, not very willing.
"There's something good to see, you won't be able to see it later," Wang Zhuang said with a mysterious smile, his face, full of wrinkles, twisted even more by the grin.
Li Su looked at Wang Zhuang's ugly face, turned away in disgust, and didn't want to see it anymore. But when he turned his head, he was met with Wang Zhi's even uglier face...
Li Su closed his eyes, despairing at this ugly world.
However, the words of the Wang brothers piqued Li Su's curiosity. He really wanted to know what "something good to see" they were talking about, so he cooperated and let them carry him, as if he were being led to an execution.
There were fewer people living at the western end of the village. It was a desolate mountain, with many weeds on the slope and a shady location. In summer, it was infested with mosquitoes, and in winter, it was battered by the north wind. So, almost no one in the village wanted to live there.
A dilapidated wooden house stood there, made of fir, with a haphazardly applied layer of tung oil on the entrance and inner hall. In some places, the tung oil had worn through, making it look even more dilapidated. The lazy sunlight filtered through the window lattice, casting onto the quiet room's floor, like a tattered painting, full of scars.
"Where are we?" Li Su couldn't help but ask.
The Wang brothers looked at him in surprise: "This place was brought to us by you. You forgot?"
"I really did forget..." Li Su smiled bitterly.
"This is the Yang widow's house. You brought us here half a year ago."
Li Su was stunned, his smile a bit stiff: "Why did you bring me to the widow's house?"
Wang Zhuang grinned: "The Yang widow lost her husband two years ago and has not remarried. A few days ago, an official came and persuaded her to remarry. The official promised to find her a strong man, guaranteeing that she would have three plump, healthy babies. If she could bear them, the government would reward her with two strings of coins. The Yang widow agreed..."
Li Su was confused, raising an eyebrow: "So?"
Wang Zhuang, angry at his lack of enthusiasm, tightly gripped Li Su's neck with his thick arm and dragged him to the back of the house, saying: "You coward, so you can't see it later, hurry up and take the chance!"
"What is it that's so good to see?"
"You coward, shut up!"
Li Su was carried by the Wang brothers to the back of the house, near the kitchen. The three of them crouched down and quietly approached the back door, peering through the crack. Their eyes suddenly widened, and they all drew in a sharp breath...
Inside the crack, there was a woman's body, white and shiny, blinding to the eyes. She held a gourd ladle, pouring hot water onto herself, and then rubbing her body, making a squeaking sound.
The scene, the light, the atmosphere... it was almost a perfect picture of a Tang dynasty woman bathing. If only the woman's waist wasn't as thick as a water buffalo's, her arms didn't have flabby flesh hanging down, her back wasn't as towering as a mountain, and her buttocks weren't like a super-sized millstone... then it would have been perfect.
Li Su suddenly felt a surge of acid in his stomach; he really wanted to vomit.
"My eyes... Ah! I'm blind, I'm blind!" Li Su couldn't help but shout, ignoring the exposure of the three of them, and ran away alone.
Inside, the woman's frightened voice called out: "Who's there?"
Wang Zhuang glared at Li Su's retreating back, then looked at the widow's perfect figure with lingering desire, sighed regretfully, and pulled his brother to run away as well.
...
He was very angry, wanting to kill the entire Wang family.
The Wang brothers sat cross-legged on the stones by the Jing River, looking at each other and laughing lewdly, their eyes shining with excitement. Clearly, what they had just seen was very much to their liking. The only regret was that a certain Li guy had interrupted their peeping.
"Brother, that woman's butt is really big, big and white, very beautiful..." Wang Zhi excitedly described the shape of the butt.
Wang Zhuang nodded in agreement: "No wonder the official came several times to persuade her to remarry. With such a big butt, she can bear children easily, a child in half a year..."
Li Su, unable to despise these two physiologically ignorant idiots, squatted by the river and angrily washed his eyes.
His OCD was acting up, feeling that his eyes had just seen a large piece of white lard, making him feel greasy and uncomfortable all over.
After washing for a while, Li Su finally felt a bit better and slowly walked over.
Now, there was something very serious that needed to be clarified immediately. If the Tang people's aesthetic standards were highly consistent with these two, Li Su decided to simply cut himself and serve Li Shimin in the palace...
"Do you think that woman is beautiful?" Li Su glared at them.
The two brothers nodded in unison, Wang Zhuang looking at him with disdain: "Such a beautiful woman, you ruined it, you coward."
"Does the whole village, young and old, think that woman is beautiful?"
The two brothers hesitated, looking at each other, their expressions full of regret, as if they had seen a pearl in the dust being discarded.
"If the whole village thinks she is beautiful, why hasn't the Yang widow been able to remarry in two years?" Wang Zhuang sighed regretfully.
Li Su breathed a sigh of relief.
Great, Li Shimin hasn't had the chance to corrupt the people of Tang yet...
He couldn't help but bow in the direction of Chang'an, sincerely shouting: "Long live the Emperor, may he live ten thousand years, ten thousand, ten thousand years..."
In the future, he must marry a slim woman. If his father dared to make him marry a woman weighing more than a hundred pounds, he would threaten to castrate himself, and neither of them would live.
As for these two...
"Li Su, you've changed!" Wang Zhuang glared at him, his eyes full of condemnation.
"What have I changed?"
"Before, you liked the Yang widow the most. You always blushed when you saw her. Half a year ago, when we peeped at the Yang widow bathing, it was you who led the way..."
Li Su: "......"
He really wanted to spew a mouthful of blood.
What kind of taste did the previous owner of this body have?
...
The three of them sat idly by the river for a while. Li Su looked at the setting sun in the distance, the afterglow casting a golden glow on the river, the village rising with wisps of cooking smoke, accompanied by a few barks and roosters, and the long moo of a couple of old oxen. A cold breeze swept past his hair, cold but full of vitality.
Li Su gazed at the rippling river, a smile gradually forming on his lips.
Oh, it's really beautiful...
Living a simple and peaceful life for the rest of his life would actually be quite nice. He decided to live like this.
In the distance, an old man in a straw hat and sandals slowly approached. Seeing Li Su and the others, the old man quickened his steps, walked up to them, and without a word, slapped Wang Zhuang's head hard.
"You coward, your brother is burning up at home, and you have the nerve to play outside!"
