Chapter 1: The Mirror of Wind and Moon

Tengshe Mountain, Feima Village.
Gaoxian, who was leaning against the wall, twitched his leg and suddenly woke up from a nightmare.
The first thing he saw was a strangely shaped brass alchemical furnace, about a meter high, resembling a teapot without a spout, with three legs shaped like toad legs, and a brick pedestal below.
There was a fire passage under the pedestal, connected to a chimney. More accurately, it was a somewhat complex wood-burning stove.
Gaoxian stared for a moment before sighing. This peculiarly shaped alchemical furnace was his means of making a living.
It had been three days since he had crossed over. He had adapted to his new body and new name but had yet to adapt to his new identity: an alchemist.
Gaoxian extended his left hand and silently said, "Mirror, come."
A gracefully designed bronze mirror appeared in his hand, with the inscription "Mirror of Wind and Moon" on its handle.
This Mirror of Wind and Moon was a周边 of "Dream of the Red Chamber," a birthday gift from a friend, which somehow crossed over with him.
At this moment, the smooth mirror surface reflected a young and handsome face.
Gaoxian, who usually read "Water Margin" fanfiction and watched low-budget movies, couldn't think of appropriate words to describe his current appearance.
Words like "arched eyebrows and starry eyes" or "face as fair as jade" were too vague.
He could only say that he looked a bit like a young male actor, handsome and dignified, especially his black eyes, which sparkled as if they could shine...
It felt like a professional lighting technician was shining a light on him!
The only flaw was his pale complexion and dark circles, making him look unhealthy.
"If I had this face, I wouldn't have been single for over thirty years!"
Gaoxian touched his face with a hint of narcissism, thinking about the days when he had to rely on his own hard work, he was full of sighs.
This was the only thing he was satisfied with about his crossover: a vibrant young body and a hopeful handsome face!
Words appeared on the surface of the Mirror of Wind and Moon.
Gaoxian: Lifespan 24/66
Cultivation: Qi Condensation Level 2 (2/200)
Five Elements Technique Level 2 Proficiency (15/200)
Fire Control Technique Beginner (88/100)
Water Control Technique Beginner (80/100)
Cleaning Technique Beginner (95/100)
Feather Flight Technique Proficient (99/200)
Gentle Breeze Sword Technique Beginner (33/100)
First-Level Alchemy Proficient (29/1000)
Recovery Pill Proficient (55/200)
Essence Consolidation Pill Proficient (41/200)
White Dew Pill Proficient (11/200)
Gaoxian had spent two days studying and basically figured out the use of the Mirror of Wind and Moon.
The mirror could reflect his personal status, quantifying various abilities. The problem was that his alchemy skill was in a gray state, making it unusable.
Gaoxian tried many methods but couldn't activate the alchemy skill or change the data in the mirror.
According to the memories of the original owner, he was an alchemist at a pharmacy!
The pharmacy provided the ingredients, and he provided the pills.
He currently owed the pharmacy five hundred Recovery Pills, Essence Consolidation Pills, and White Dew Pills each.
He had a significant problem: the original owner had secretly exchanged a batch of pills for Blood Red Pills.
Blood Red Pills were a powerful Qi Condensation pill. The original owner had taken them to break through to Qi Condensation Level 2 but somehow died, leaving his body to Gaoxian.
The large amount of ingredients used for alchemy had created a huge deficit. How could he explain this to the pharmacy owner?
A more serious issue was that the original owner's memories were incomplete, including those related to alchemy.
Even if he had enough ingredients, he couldn't currently make pills.
Calculating the time, he should have delivered the first batch of pills five days ago.
He didn't know what the consequences would be for not delivering the pills, but he imagined it wouldn't be good!
While Gaoxian was thinking of a solution, he heard the courtyard gate creak open. He was startled and quickly moved to the window to look outside.
Through a crack in the window paper, Gaoxian saw the short and fat Zhu Zongguan and the tall and busty Zhu Qiniang behind him.
The two stood together, with a height difference of almost two feet, one fat and one tall, making a very memorable combination. Gaoxian immediately recognized them.
Gaoxian sighed, tugged at his wrinkled Daoist robe, took a deep breath, and opened the door to greet them.
"Brother Zhu, Sister, please come in..."
Gaoxian put on a professional smile, warmly and politely inviting them in.
"Little Gao, how's it going?" Zhu Zongguan asked with a chuckle.
Gaoxian said with an embarrassed look, "Brother Zhu, I was in a hurry to break through to Qi Condensation Level 2, so the pills aren't ready yet. I'll send them to you as soon as they're done."
Zhu Zongguan smiled and said, "Little Gao, cultivation should be gradual. Don't rush. One mistake can be fatal."
The boss lady's face was cold and hard. She didn't speak, but her stern presence was oppressive.
Gaoxian felt guilty. His body was already tall, about 1.85 meters, but he was still shorter than the boss lady.
In his memory, this boss lady was at Qi Condensation Level 9, extremely skilled in breaking bones, and had a high combat value.
However, she had long eyebrows, deep-set eyes, and a well-defined face. Her taut, smooth, wheat-colored skin and high chest and long legs were barely concealed by her loose blue Daoist robe.
Her facial features were deep and defined, resembling the movie version of Wonder Woman, but with more delicate features.
Upon closer inspection, Gaoxian found the boss lady very attractive. In this land of yellow earth, there was such a beauty!
Driven by his male instincts and his repressed nature, he couldn't help but take another look.
The boss lady frowned slightly, her beautiful green eyes turning, giving Gaoxian a meaningful look.
"What does the boss lady mean?"
Gaoxian didn't understand the look but still humbly explained, "Brother Zhu, I was in a hurry to break through to a higher level to better refine pills."
"The higher the cultivation, the better the control over the fire, and the higher the quality of the pills."
Gaoxian smiled apologetically, "Brother Zhu, Sister, I didn't mean to delay. Give me a few more days, a few more days."
Zhu Zongguan waved his hand, "Even without considering your master's face, a few days' delay isn't a big deal."
His fat face was full of a friendly smile, as if it wasn't a big deal.
"Would ten more days be enough?"
Zhu Zongguan's leniency made Gaoxian feel relieved.
He smiled and nodded, "Yes, yes, ten days will be enough. I'll send them to you as soon as they're done."
"Refine the pills well, don't let your master down."
Zhu Zongguan patted Gaoxian's shoulder, encouraging him in a senior's manner.
"If you have any problems in life, you can talk to me... I have to go now. No need to see me out."
Gaoxian hurriedly followed to see them off. Zhu Zongguan smiled and left the door, being quite polite to Gaoxian.
However, as she left, Zhu Qiniang gave Gaoxian a deep look.
That look seemed to have a complex meaning...
Gaoxian didn't understand. Was Sister... interested in him?
As the saying goes, nothing is better than dumplings, but I'm not that kind of person!
Regardless of his thoughts, Gaoxian respectfully bowed and saw the couple off.
