Gu Fei was entangled by the beast and dragged into the cave on the cliff wall, where a sense of immense danger immediately enveloped him.
Being caught by the beast meant only two possible outcomes: one, being eaten as food by the beast; the other, being killed by the beast. In short, it meant—death!
Gu Fei's heart was filled with panic. At the critical moment of life and death, he struggled desperately, his muscles contracting and expanding, and his bones making a crackling sound as he exerted great force to try to break free from the beast's body that was entangling him.
However, he was destined to be disappointed. This beast seemed to have considerable strength, and its pitch-black scales, when moving, absorbed most of Gu Fei's strength, and seemed to tighten even more, causing Gu Fei to become extremely anxious.
The snake-like beast dragged Gu Fei forward rapidly in the cave. Gu Fei remained calm in the face of danger, feeling his body constantly descending, and the water pressure around him increasing rapidly.
The icy-cold water of the pond, under the terrifying water pressure, kept seeping into his seven orifices. Even though Gu Fei was prepared, he still swallowed several mouthfuls of the cold pond water.
The coldness of the Bi Shui Han Tan (Green Water Cold Pond) was no joke; the deeper the water, the more intense the cold. The beast darted through the underwater cave, diving at least a thousand zhang deep.
After swallowing several mouthfuls of water, the internal and external coldness attacked him simultaneously, causing his body to become numb, his limbs to stiffen, and a block of ice seemed to form in his chest and abdomen, making him extremely uncomfortable.
What to do! Gu Fei was extremely anxious. If this continued, he would have no chance of survival.
The beast's lair seemed to be at the very bottom of the Bi Shui Han Tan. Gu Fei still felt himself being dragged deeper and deeper.
The dark cave seemed to have no end, and the boundless darkness and the terrifying water pressure enveloped Gu Fei. He had no idea how deep the beast had dragged him.
Just as Gu Fei felt that his entire body was about to be crushed by the immense force, the beast suddenly changed direction and started to dart upwards.
Soon, with a "splash," Gu Fei felt a sudden lightness on his body, and his vision brightened. He then smelled the air and found himself flying up, landing on something with a "crack" sound, which seemed to be broken dry branches.
A strong, foul, and fishy smell suddenly rushed into his nose. Gu Fei reached out to touch the ground, feeling it was slippery, sticky, and in strips and chunks, making him feel nauseous.
He quickly sat up and looked around, just in time to see a huge, black, strange snake hidden in a pond a few dozen feet away.
This... Gu Fei's heart was shaken. When did such a powerful snake-like beast appear in the Bi Shui Han Tan? Could it be... that Wang Yuanzhi knew about this beast?
"What a vicious heart!" At this thought, a murderous aura rose on Gu Fei's face.
The task to catch the Bi Lin Li (Green Phosphorus Carp) in the Bi Shui Han Tan was originally drawn by Wang Yuanzhi, but Wang Yuanzhi had forcibly taken Gu Fei's token and thrown him a token for catching fish.
If things were really as he imagined, Wang Yuanzhi could not be forgiven. The best way to deal with someone who wanted you dead was to kill that person first.
Although Gu Fei was extremely unlucky, fortunately, the beast seemed to have no immediate need to eat. After catching Gu Fei, it disappeared somewhere.
Gu Fei checked his body and found that, apart from aches and pains all over, he seemed to have no serious injuries. He then looked around and was surprised to find that he was sitting on a pile of bones as big as a small mountain. When the beast threw him onto this pile, it broke many dry bones.
This seemed to be the place where the beast ate.
Gu Fei was surprised to find a fish spine about ten feet long, still dripping with blood, in the pile of bones. Around the spine were palm-sized, deep green scales scattered on the ground. Each scale was as clear and transparent as jade.
These were the unique scales of the Bi Lin Li.
"Such a huge Bi Lin Li is truly rare!" Gu Fei was secretly shocked. The largest Bi Lin Li he had seen was only a few feet long, while the one in front of him, which the beast had eaten down to a spine, was of an unprecedented size.
No wonder the Bi Lin Li in the Bi Shui Han Tan had disappeared; they had almost been hunted to extinction by this beast lurking at the bottom of the pond.
The beast seemed to have just eaten a Bi Lin Wang (Green Phosphorus King), perhaps because it was not hungry, it did not kill Gu Fei immediately.
If the beast had killed Gu Fei immediately, Gu Fei would have been in grave danger.
This was a cave, a huge cave, about two to three hundred zhang wide and a hundred zhang high, as Gu Fei estimated.
In the black, chaotic rocks, small ponds were scattered everywhere, even on the cave ceiling. However, for some reason, the pond water, which exuded a bone-chilling cold, did not flow into the cave, as if some force was blocking it from entering.
Even the water on the cave ceiling did not fall, which was completely against common sense.
The ground, walls, and rocks around the cave were all black. Strangely, this huge cave was dimly lit, not pitch black.
The light seemed to come from the center of the cave, where a black skeleton, about a hundred zhang long, lay like a small mountain.
At first, Gu Fei did not realize it was a beast's skeleton. After all, in the dim cave, everything visible was black, and the skeleton was also black, making it hard to notice.
It was the skeleton of a beast similar to a dragon, as only such a beast could have such a large, snake-like skeleton.
According to legend, thousands of years ago, a demonic dragon had inhabited the Bi Shui Han Tan and was later killed by a powerful figure. Could this be the skeleton of that demonic dragon?
Gu Fei walked towards the skeleton, his heart filled with doubt. He remembered a legend about the Bi Shui Han Tan from the Tai Xuan Sect.
When he came close and walked around a large rock, the scene that appeared before him made his hair stand on end, and he was stunned for a long time.
He saw a tall, imposing middle-aged man standing on a stone platform, looking lifelike. If it weren't for the bloody hole in the man's chest, Gu Fei would have thought he was still alive.
The man had long, black hair flowing over his shoulders, thick eyebrows, and a pair of black, bright eyes that still exuded a captivating aura, making anyone who looked at him feel intimidated.
What shook Gu Fei the most was the man's aura—domineering and invincible, a posture that looked down on all living beings. There was no doubt that this man had been a god-like figure in his lifetime.
How could such a person end up in the cave at the bottom of the Bi Shui Han Tan?
At the man's feet was a broken, pitch-black skeleton. Despite the passage of time, this black skeleton still exuded a sinister and evil aura.
The broken skeleton on the ground was pitch-black, faintly emitting a dark color. Looking at this broken skeleton, Gu Fei suddenly felt a chill, as if he could see a fierce demon with its mouth open and claws extended. He quickly averted his gaze.
Clearly, this was a true demon bone.
The man stood facing a huge rock, still standing tall even after his death, his domineering aura still shaking the soul. Behind him was the broken head of a strange beast, like a small mountain.
The light in the entire cave came from the man's hands, which were held in front of his dantian. A faint light spread out from between his hands, illuminating the entire cave.
Between the hands of this deceased great hero, a magical jade pendant, about two fingers wide, was suspended. The light was emitted from this jade pendant.
