Not long after the conversation about Chu Mengyao's family affairs ended, the voice of Uncle Fu came from outside the study. It was unclear whether he had been deliberately waiting for their conversation to end before knocking, or if he just happened to come up at this moment.

In any case, although Chu Pengzhan said that Uncle Fu was a trustworthy person, Lin Yi always felt that Chu Pengzhan seemed to be hiding something from him. He had asked Lin Yi to accompany Chu Mengyao, not just to be her study partner, nanny, and bodyguard, but there seemed to be a deeper meaning to it.

However, what exactly it was, Chu Pengzhan did not say, and Lin Yi believed that Uncle Fu was probably unaware as well. Perhaps only Chu Pengzhan knew.

"Mr. Chu, I've parked the car. Can I come in?" Uncle Fu asked.

"Come in. I was just talking to Xiaoyi about yesterday's events," Chu Pengzhan replied.

Uncle Fu pushed the door open and sat down on the sofa next to Lin Yi.

"Earlier, we were discussing why the kidnappers chose the bank. Xiaoyi mentioned that it was because the school required each student to have a bank card, preparing to deposit tuition fees..." Seeing Uncle Fu come in, Chu Pengzhan continued the previous topic: "From this, it seems that there might be someone at Yao Yao's school who is leaking information. Otherwise, the kidnappers wouldn't have chosen this time to rob the bank."

"Yes," Lin Yi nodded. "I think so too. And I believe this person is likely a staff member of the school, not a student. Only staff members would know these things in advance. By the time the students find out, it's almost time to leave school. At that point, it would be too late to notify the kidnappers to prepare!"

"Very good!" Chu Pengzhan nodded in approval, seemingly very satisfied with Lin Yi's insight. "I will also investigate the school... However... never mind, let's not talk about this..."

"What's wrong? Isn't Uncle Chu a board member of the school?" Lin Yi was a bit puzzled. Investigating something at the school should be relatively easy for Chu Pengzhan, right?

"I am a board member, but there are three board members, each holding shares in the school. Therefore, there are many of their people in the school, making the investigation quite challenging..." Chu Pengzhan did not hide this from Lin Yi, as it was not a secret.

"I see. Then I'll pay attention when I go to school," Lin Yi said after hearing Chu Pengzhan's explanation.

At this point, Lin Yi had a clearer understanding. The kidnappers did not abduct Chu Mengyao to extort money or harm her, but rather to force Chu Pengzhan to make concessions in a business deal.

Moreover, the kidnappers did not choose to abduct her in another place to mislead the police and delay the investigation. If Chu Pengzhan's daughter was kidnapped, it's easy to imagine how much police force would be deployed to search for the kidnappers.

In that case, the purpose might not be achieved, and Chu Mengyao could be found by the police.

...

Indeed, after Yang Huaijun returned to the police station, he immediately took over the bank robbery case. However, the case became much easier in his hands!

Yang Huaijun directly called the city management command center and obtained the surveillance footage from the streets near the bank yesterday. At this point, Song Lingshan realized how foolish she had been!

Although the "Digital City Management" system had only been in use in Songshan for less than a month, Yang Huaijun had keenly remembered this useful information. "Digital City Management" refers to the use of information technology and mobile communication technology to handle, analyze, and manage all urban management components and events, promoting the modernization and informatization of urban management.

The city management bureau had installed surveillance cameras on major streets to monitor the area 24/7, to oversee sanitation and traffic flow.

At the time, Song Lingshan had also thought about obtaining footage from the traffic police, but unfortunately, the traffic police's cameras only activated during red lights to capture traffic violations and were otherwise turned off.

Therefore, Song Lingshan had to give up, but she never expected that Yang Huaijun would think of using the city management department's surveillance footage to solve the case.

Although it seemed simple, it highlighted one thing: she was not meticulous enough! Some seemingly insignificant details often played a crucial role in critical moments.

With the surveillance footage, everything became much easier. Since the 24/7 monitoring system had only recently been activated and was still in the trial phase, not many people knew about it, so the kidnappers were unlikely to be aware of it.

In fact, they clearly did not know. Soon after the first car with the license plate Song A74110 left, a second car with the same license plate, a commercial van, passed by the area Zhang Xiaohang was responsible for. This was undoubtedly the vehicle the kidnappers were using!

From there, it was a matter of following the trail to determine the general area where the kidnappers' vehicle was located. Why "general area"? Because the 24/7 surveillance cameras were only installed on main streets in the city, and some remote areas did not have them, so the final footage could only give a rough idea of the kidnappers' location.

However, even this was enough. The search area was significantly narrowed, making the search much easier...

Zhong Pinliang spent the whole day in fear. He never expected that a seemingly country bumpkin transfer student would be so formidable. Yesterday, he had provoked him, and today, Lin Yi had beaten one of the school's top leaders, Zou Ruoming. He thought Lin Yi would be in for a rough time, but instead, it was his own hired thug, Black Panther, who was beaten up badly!

At this moment, Zhong Pinliang finally understood what a difference in strength meant. Even with a gun, Black Panther couldn't beat Lin Yi. What could he do?

However, he couldn't appear too weak in front of Zhang Naipao and Gao Xiaofu. He now hated Lin Yi to the bone but was also terrified of him!

Using ordinary methods, he definitely couldn't deal with Lin Yi. To avenge his humiliation, he had to come up with another plan.

"Brother Liang, why is Lin Yi so strong..." Gao Xiaofu said, somewhat annoyed. "But, isn't that Black Panther too weak? I thought he was really something, but he's not much better than us from yesterday!"

"Exactly, with a gun and still so wimpy. If I were him, I'd have shot Lin Yi!" Zhang Naipao also said angrily.

Gao Xiaofu and Zhang Naipao had never been involved in the criminal world. They had only heard Zhong Pinliang talk about how formidable Black Panther was. Today, they saw that he was not that impressive, so they were not particularly shocked.

The truly shocked one was Zhong Pinliang. He knew Black Panther's skills the best, and now, Black Panther had suffered consecutive losses to Lin Yi...
