When Guo Dangnu asked about Guo Shaocong, Ye Qiu instantly understood that Guo Dangnu was testing him.

Because of Guo Shaocong's disappearance, Guo Dangnu had started to suspect him.

Although Ye Qiu raised his guard in his heart, he showed no change in his expression and said solemnly, "Deputy Director Guo, I was just about to ask you, where has Guo Shaocong gone? Why haven't I seen him?"

"Are you really unaware of where Shaocong is?"

Guo Dangnu narrowed his eyes, trying hard to find any signs of deceit in Ye Qiu's expression.

However, he was disappointed.

Ye Qiu's face was calm, showing no signs of abnormality.

Ye Qiu said, "I went to the ward to look for Guo Shaocong, and Zhang Lili said he had gone for a walk in the garden. I went to the garden to look for him, but I still couldn't find Guo Shaocong."

"Is that so?" Guo Dangnu's eyes were filled with suspicion as he said, "Xiao Ye, are you lying to me? How could you not know where Shaocong is?"

"If you don't believe me, you can ask Director Bai. When I went to the garden to look for Guo Shaocong, Director Bai was right beside me, and he can vouch for me."

"Director Bai, is what Ye Qiu said true?" Guo Dangnu asked, looking at Bai Bing.

"Ye Qiu is not lying; what he said is true," Bai Bing replied.

Guo Dangnu chuckled and said, "I thought Xiao Ye knew where Shaocong was."

"Deputy Director Guo, you are Guo Shaocong's father; wouldn't he tell you where he's going?" Ye Qiu countered.

"You don't know, but Shaocong is playful, and he's an adult now; I can't control him." Guo Dangnu followed up, "Xiao Ye, why were you looking for Shaocong?"

"Zhang Lili accused me of plagiarizing Guo Shaocong's medical records. I wanted to find him to clear things up," Ye Qiu pretended to be somewhat angry.

Guo Dangnu said kindly, "It's a small matter. When Shaocong returns, I will definitely have him explain to you. For now, you should go treat Old Li!"

"Alright."

Only then did Ye Qiu and Bai Bing leave.

As soon as they left, the smile on Guo Dangnu's face disappeared, replaced by a cold expression.

"This little bastard is quite cunning. Since you won't tell me where Shaocong is, don't blame me."

A cold light flashed in Guo Dangnu's eyes as he grabbed the phone on his desk and dialed a number.

Five seconds later, the call was connected, and a stern male voice came from the other end, "Who is this?"

"Hello, Director Li, it's Xiao Guo!" Guo Dangnu bent over, speaking respectfully.

There was a moment of silence on the other end, as if trying to recall who "Xiao Guo" was. After a while, he asked, "Are you Guo Dangnu from Jiangzhou Hospital?"

"Yes, yes, I am Guo Dangnu from Jiangzhou Hospital. Thank you, Director Li, for remembering me," Guo Dangnu said, flattered.

"Do you have something to ask me?" Director Li asked.

"It's like this, we have a doctor in the surgery department who, for some reason, insists on treating Old Li. I couldn't stop him."

"A surgeon? What's his name? How old is he?"

"His name is Ye Qiu, in his early twenties, and he is a probationary doctor in the surgery department."

"Nonsense! A probationary doctor can't possibly cure my father," Director Li said sternly. "Guo Dangnu, I order you not to let that doctor treat my father."

"I couldn't stop him; he has already started the treatment."

"How could you let this happen? As the deputy director, you couldn't stop a probationary doctor?"

"Director Li, you don't know, Director Bai of the surgery department supports Ye Qiu's treatment, and I couldn't do anything about it!"

"I don't care what method you use, but you must stop them. I'm on my way to the hospital. I warn you, if anything happens to my father, I won't let you off."

Click!

Director Li hung up the phone in a rage.

Guo Dangnu's face showed a satisfied smile, and he coldly said, "Ye Qiu, not only will I make you lose your job, but I will also send you to jail."

...

After leaving Guo Dangnu's office, Bai Bing's face was serious as he said, "Ye Qiu, you shouldn't have agreed to treat Old Li. His status is not ordinary. If anything goes wrong with the treatment, you will be in big trouble."

"Director, I know all of this, but did I have a choice?" Ye Qiu said. "If I don't treat him, I will offend Director Li. It's better to try. What if I succeed?"

"What if?"

When Bai Bing heard these words, his face turned serious, and he scolded Ye Qiu, "You are a doctor; you shouldn't have a侥幸心理. Treating patients must be done with certainty, as it concerns human lives."

"I'm sorry, Director, I was wrong," Ye Qiu promptly admitted his mistake.

Bai Bing's expression softened, and he said, "Since you have already agreed to treat him, do your best! As Deputy Director Guo said, if you can cure Old Li, it will be a great opportunity for you."

"I will do my best."

Ye Qiu followed Bai Bing to the intensive care ward.

He noticed that this intensive care ward was on the same floor as Lin Jingzhi's ward, with only a few rooms in between.

Upon entering, they saw an old man lying on the bed, unconscious, around seventy years old, with a gray complexion. A middle-aged female nurse was beside him, wiping the old man's feet.

Seeing Bai Bing and Ye Qiu enter, the nurse quickly stood up. Before she could greet them, Bai Bing said, "You can go out for now. We need to examine Old Li."

"Yes!" The nurse responded and quickly left the ward.

"Ye Qiu, take a look at Old Li first."

Ye Qiu nodded, picked up the medical records hanging by the bed, and carefully read through them, examining Old Li's condition and the changes in his health over the years.

According to the records, before Old Li became a vegetative state, there were no signs of any health issues. He just fell asleep in a chair and became a vegetative state.

Over the years, Director Li had consulted many medical experts and tried various methods to wake Old Li, but all attempts failed.

Old Li showed no response.

Now, he was maintained by intravenous fluids.

Over the years, Old Li had become emaciated.

Ye Qiu closed the medical records, sat down by the bed, and placed his fingers on Old Li's pulse, carefully feeling it.

Seeing this, Bai Bing asked curiously, "Ye Qiu, do you know traditional Chinese medicine?"

"Um." Ye Qiu responded.

"Why didn't you tell me before?"

"Director, you never asked."

"Can you treat Old Li in this condition?" Bai Bing asked.

"It's hard to say; Old Li's condition is quite unusual," Ye Qiu replied.

"How unusual?"

"Old Li's pulse is steady and strong, which is not typical for a vegetative state. It seems like he might have a condition known as 'soul loss'!"
