Chapter 0021: A Warning

5 min read1,193 words

Wang Zhifeng was startled by Lin Yi's words, realizing that this kid must know something! If Lin Yi had looked confused, Wang Zhifeng would have been relieved, but Lin Yi's words made even a fool like him understand the implications.

However, since Lin Yi said this, it meant he didn't want to meddle in his affairs, and Wang Zhifeng felt a bit relieved. Otherwise, if this matter reached the principal and the board of directors, his position as the academic affairs director would be at an end.

"Ha ha!" Wang Zhifeng gave a dry laugh and said, "Lin classmate, if you encounter any trouble at school in the future, you can come to me anytime! Write down my phone number later!"

"Thank you very much, Director Wang!" Lin Yi hurriedly thanked him, putting on a respectful act. Lin Yi also knew that his identity was special; he came to school mainly for Chu Mengyao, so he would definitely do some unconventional things at school. He couldn't always rely on Chu Pengzhan and Uncle Fu to handle every issue, so it was better to use this opportunity to build a good relationship with Wang Zhifeng.

From the looks of it, his goal had been achieved. As long as he didn't go too far, Wang Zhifeng would help him deal with any issues.

Lin Yi followed Wang Zhifeng to the classroom door of Class 5, Grade 3. Wang Zhifeng pushed the door open and waved to the homeroom teacher, saying, "This is the new transfer student, Lin Yi. Arrange a seat for him!"

When Zhong Pinliang saw Lin Yi, his eyes widened. Yes, this was the kid who kicked him yesterday! This morning, he and Gao Xiaofu, Zhang Naipao, and the others chased him for a long time but couldn't catch him, and now he had come to the school on his own!

"My name is Lin Yi, 'Lin' as in 'double wood,' and 'Yi' as in 'graceful.'" After a brief self-introduction, Lin Yi was assigned to a single desk at the back of the classroom by the homeroom teacher.

There was no choice; although the homeroom teacher understood that Lin Yi had some background, it wasn't the time to rearrange seats at the beginning of the school year. The seats were already fixed, so the teacher could only let Lin Yi sit at the back for now, with plans to adjust later.

However, Lin Yi wasn't particular about where he sat and nodded happily, walking to the back of the classroom.

During Lin Yi's self-introduction, Chu Mengyao kept her head low, while Chen Yushu stared at him with big, curious eyes, making Lin Yi feel a bit uneasy. This Chen girl was even more troublesome than Miss Chu!

Zhong Pinliang gave Zhang Naipao a nod, as Lin Yi would have to pass by Zhang Naipao to reach his seat. Zhang Naipao gave Zhong Pinliang an "OK" gesture, indicating that there was no problem.

When Lin Yi entered the classroom, he had already noticed that Zhong Pinliang was a student in Class 5, Grade 3, so he paid extra attention to him. All of Zhong Pinliang's small actions were clearly seen by Lin Yi.

As Lin Yi passed by Zhang Naipao, Zhang Naipao suddenly stretched out his right foot, trying to trip Lin Yi. Lin Yi smiled disdainfully and was about to kick him, but he knew that if he did, Zhang Naipao would definitely break a bone. Not wanting to cause too much trouble on his first day, Lin Yi stepped directly on Zhang Naipao's foot, causing him to yelp in pain.

"What? What's this?" Lin Yi looked at Zhang Naipao innocently and said, "Sorry, I accidentally stepped on your foot!"

"Zhang Naipao, do you have a problem?" Teacher Liu, the homeroom teacher, knew Zhang Naipao's usual behavior but couldn't say much because he had some background and often hung out with Zhong Pinliang.

"No... nothing..." Zhang Naipao's face turned red from pain, and he forced himself to shake his head. He wouldn't tell the teacher about what Lin Yi did, as that would be too embarrassing.

Zhong Pinliang, who was far away, didn't know what had happened between Zhang Naipao and Lin Yi, but seeing that Lin Yi was fine while Zhang Naipao was yelling, he gave Zhang Naipao a disapproving look.

Zhang Naipao couldn't express his frustration and could only glare, thinking that he had to get back at Lin Yi after class. He wasn't sure if Lin Yi had done it on purpose or not, as Lin Yi hadn't looked down while walking, and his apology seemed genuine, which made Zhang Naipao very frustrated.

Lin Yi's seat was not far from Chu Mengyao and Chen Yushu, and he could see them by just lifting his head. Choosing to sit here was a good decision, as he could always keep an eye on them. After all, his main responsibility was to take care of Chu Mengyao, and he was being paid for it.

Lin Yi found his first day of school quite novel. He had never been in a classroom before, only seeing them online and in videos of students in class.

Lin Yi opened his backpack and took out the physics textbook. The first class of the day was physics, and he had already checked the schedule to confirm this.

"Lin Yi is here for his first day of school today. I hope everyone can take care of the new student. I don't want to see any bullying. We are already in our final year, and I don't want anyone to miss out on their graduation certificate because of this." Teacher Liu warned Zhong Pinliang and Zhang Naipao, especially Zhong Pinliang, who was known as one of the four school bullies and often bullied other students.

Of course, Zhong Pinliang treated this warning as if it were nothing.

While Lin Yi was flipping through the book, a small paper ball suddenly landed on his desk, making him pause. He thought, "Is Zhang Naipao so low that he would throw a paper ball at me after being stepped on? That's just kindergarten level!"

Lin Yi looked up and saw Chen Yushu smiling at him, making him feel a chill. Could this paper ball be from her?

Chen Yushu pointed at the paper ball on Lin Yi's desk and then turned around. Lin Yi was a bit surprised, looking at the paper and then at Chen Yushu's back, thinking, "Could this be the legendary note-passing?"

Sigh, if it were a pretty and gentle girl passing him a note, it would be nice, but Chen Yushu only had one of those qualities—she was pretty, but not gentle at all.

Lin Yi slowly opened the note, not expecting Chen Yushu to write him a love letter or anything. Sure enough, when he opened the note, he saw a line of neat, small writing. If Lin Yi didn't know Chen Yushu's personality, he would have thought she was a lady.
