The girl stopped kicking Lin Yi's leg and instead leaned against the window, quietly listening to her MP3.
"Songshan Station has arrived. Please prepare to disembark. This stop will last fifteen minutes." The train's announcement system broadcasted the station arrival notice, and Lin Yi began to gather his luggage, preparing to get off.
To his surprise, the girl beside him also started to pack her things, clearly intending to get off at Songshan Station as well.
When the girl stood up, Lin Yi estimated her height to be around 1.65 meters, just as he had guessed.
After getting off the train, Lin Yi looked at the magnificent buildings in the station with great amazement. Although he had been here once ten years ago, Songshan had undergone tremendous changes in the past decade.
"Wait a moment!" A sweet female voice called out from behind Lin Yi. He stopped and instinctively turned around.
It was the girl who had been sitting next to him on the train, waving her hand and running towards him quickly.
"Is there something you need?" Lin Yi naturally didn't believe that the girl had fallen in love with him at first sight. Although he was quite handsome, his outfit was too rustic. He wore earth-colored pants and a white tank top, just like a migrant worker looking for a job in the city.
"Aren't you thinking about going to claim the prize?" the girl said with a hint of resentment. She was angry that Lin Yi had ignored her warnings on the train.
"Oh, you mean that?" Lin Yi took the pull tab out of his pocket and casually threw it on the side of the road.
"Ah?!" This time, it was the girl's turn to be stunned! She never expected Lin Yi to do such a thing!
"You... you threw it away?" The girl pointed at Lin Yi, her mouth wide open in shock.
"Yeah, I threw it away." Lin Yi nodded: "It was fake anyway, so there was no point in keeping it."
"You knew it was fake?" The girl was confused by Lin Yi's words. She looked at him dumbfounded, wondering what was going on. How could he spend money on something he knew was fake? Was he crazy? He didn't seem like a rich person with a bad taste.
"I knew. Even if I didn't, you reminded me on the train, didn't you?" Lin Yi said.
"Then why did you give them money?" The girl was flustered. What kind of person was this?
Lin Yi smiled, took his backpack off his shoulder, unzipped it, and opened it in front of the girl.
The girl glanced at Lin Yi in surprise, then looked down into his backpack and was shocked! There were seven or eight bundles of cash inside!
"Do you have a lot of money? Even if you do, you shouldn't spend it recklessly," the girl said, not quite understanding Lin Yi's actions. She thought he was showing off his wealth.
"This is the money from earlier," Lin Yi said.
"The money from earlier? What do you mean?" The girl was confused: "You mean you got the money back? But there was only 49,000, and now there are 70,000 to 80,000 here?"
"The guy with glasses had 30,000, and I took it from him too," Lin Yi shrugged. It was a small matter, a trivial effort for him.
"Wh-what?" The girl was completely stunned! It wasn't that Lin Yi was crazy, but that he was highly skilled. Not only did he get his money back, but he also took the money from the guy with glasses!
"Why the look? You're not going to report me for theft, are you? You have a strong sense of justice," Lin Yi said, smiling at the girl's shocked expression.
"Of course not." The girl blushed and shook her head.
"But thank you for your help earlier. There aren't many girls like you," Lin Yi said sincerely. "Would you like to have dinner with me?"
"No... thank you," the girl shook her head shyly. "My family is waiting for me at the exit."
Lin Yi nodded and didn't insist. Pursuing a girl was a skill, but it also required a natural flow. Being too forceful would backfire: "Then I won't disturb you."
Wang Xinyan watched Lin Yi's retreating back and shook her head. He was a very unique person. If her mother hadn't been waiting for her at the exit, she wouldn't have minded getting to know Lin Yi better.
It wasn't that Wang Xinyan had any particular feelings for Lin Yi, but she found him quite different. He carried a lot of cash in his backpack without depositing it in a bank, dressed in the most rustic way possible, yet had an indescribable aura.
"Sir, would you like to stay at a hotel? It's very cheap..."
As soon as Lin Yi left the station, he was surrounded by people from nearby hotels trying to get customers. His migrant worker-like appearance made him a prime target for these small hotels.
Who would stay in such a small hotel if they were rich? High-end hotels didn't need to solicit customers.
Lin Yi waved them off, squeezed through the crowd, and walked towards the taxi stand on the square. He held a piece of paper with an address given to him by the old man before he left.
Getting into a taxi, the driver asked enthusiastically, "Young man, where are you going?"
"To this address." Lin Yi handed the paper to the driver.
The driver, who specialized in picking up customers around the station, immediately recognized Lin Yi as a newcomer, probably a worker. He thought about overcharging him, as he wouldn't know the way. He happily took the paper, glanced at the address, and his face turned green!
The paper read: Songshan City, Guangming Avenue 36, Pengzhan Building. 11.2 kilometers from the station, take the New Second Ring Bridge.
The route was even planned out, with the distance clearly marked. How could he overcharge anyone? But why was this young man, dressed like a worker, going to Pengzhan Building? It was the largest group company in Songshan City. Did he know someone inside?
The driver sighed, threw the paper aside, and started driving.
Songshan's traffic was excellent, with many bridges. Lin Yi felt that he arrived at his destination in no time. He paid 24 yuan and got out of the car.
Looking at the tall building in front of him, Lin Yi felt a bit dizzy. It seemed taller than the mountains in his hometown. It looked like his employer was very wealthy, just as the old man had said. One task could last a lifetime. He wondered if jumping from the top would be fatal.
However, back in his hometown, the old man had kicked him off a mountain top, and he hadn't died, just ended up bruised and swollen in bed for a few days.
Lin Yi confirmed the address and the name of the building, and, after verifying that everything was correct, he walked into the building confidently.
