"No... No... No, you can't... You can't do this... Stop it..."
They say even cold water can get stuck in your teeth, and Ji Feng is now experiencing that feeling.
He had just been dumped by his girlfriend in the daytime, and after getting drunk in the evening, he encountered a robbery on his way home. Although his body was relatively strong, he was no match for the two more robust knife-wielding robbers, especially with his mind clouded. Ji Feng could only be beaten up, especially when he watched helplessly as the two men took his only money, found it insufficient, and then proceeded to beat him up, causing his stomach to churn in excruciating pain, and his nose and mouth to bleed before they finally left.
Dragging his injured and exhausted body for over twenty minutes, he returned to his home on the third floor nearby. He closed the door and collapsed on the sofa. The physical and mental pain made him unable to get up again. With a bitter smile and traces of blood, he gradually closed his eyes.
However, Ji Feng didn't notice that after lying down, the family heirloom jade pendant he had been wearing around his neck slipped out, and a few drops of blood from his nose coincidentally fell onto the pendant.
In the dark room, the jade pendant suddenly emitted a soft, gentle light and seemed to come to life, floating in the air.
The gentle light enveloped Ji Feng's entire body, and the bruises and injuries he had sustained that night began to heal at an almost visible speed, completely healing in a matter of moments.
The jade pendant then fell back onto Ji Feng's chest. As it touched his skin, a blue light flashed and entered his body. A clear jade pendant pattern appeared on Ji Feng's chest and gradually disappeared.
The entire process lasted about ten minutes, and except for the red string around Ji Feng's neck, everything seemed to have returned to normal.
Feeling thirsty, Ji Feng groggily got up, habitually looking for the water dispenser to get a drink. Just as he got up from the sofa and lifted his leg, he bumped into something that felt like a pillar, which instantly made him more alert.
Opening his eyes, he was immediately stunned by the scene before him, his mouth agape in shock.
A tall octagonal tower stood about thirty meters away, with about eight or nine floors, adorned with various oddly shaped wind chimes that gently swayed in the breeze, occasionally emitting faint, almost inaudible tinkles.
To the right was an ancient courtyard with a large red gate closed, flanked by two half-meter-tall divine beasts. The courtyard, which spanned nearly a hundred acres, was completely hidden behind the high walls, making Ji Feng wonder if he had somehow traveled back in time.
To the left was a dense forest with countless towering trees, each requiring several people to encircle the massive trunks. Below, there were many low shrubs and various unknown plants, with a path leading deep into the forest.
The tree Ji Feng had bumped into was on the edge of the forest, as thick as his waist, and stretched up to the sky, making it impossible to see its height.
He pinched himself hard.
"Ouch, it really hurts. Damn, it seems what I'm seeing is real? But where am I? What use would I be to kidnappers? I'm not rich." Thinking of money, Ji Feng felt a pang of pain over the few hundred dollars in his wallet that had been stolen yesterday.
Ji Feng wasn't sure if he still had any relatives. After his parents died in a plane crash a few years ago, all his relatives tried to claim the family's assets, forcing him to avoid them. At first, he would still visit his grandparents and other relatives during the New Year, but their ulterior motives made him avoid them as much as possible, only seeing them during the New Year.
Over time, Ji Feng had come to consider himself an orphan. Fortunately, the inheritance from his parents was enough to get him through college and find a job, even though the income wasn't high, it was enough to support himself. Without the need to buy a house or pay a mortgage, Ji Feng's life was quite comfortable.
Taking a deep breath, a faint fragrance entered his lungs, instantly invigorating every cell in his body. The fresh air made Ji Feng feel refreshed, and the usual hangover discomfort was gone.
Turning around, he was once again captivated by the scenery before him. A lake of about thirty acres lay in front of him, with clear water rippling gently, and the lake bottom visible. However, after looking for a long time, he didn't see a single fish, which made him slightly disappointed.
To the left of the lake, in front of the courtyard, was a vast open field, spanning over a hundred acres, with endless green grass that reached halfway up a person's height, and occasionally a tree over ten meters tall.
The entire world before his eyes was clearly divided into different functional areas, as if someone had deliberately designed it this way.
The fresh air, the endless grassland, the dense forest, the clear lake, and the ancient courtyard—all of it was so new and different from the city life Ji Feng had known since junior high, where he often ate gutter oil and breathed heavily polluted air.
After enjoying the fresh air for a while, Ji Feng noticed a problem: the place was too quiet. Apart from the occasional faint tinkling of the wind chimes, there was no other sound, as if it were a frozen world.
He also wondered how he had ended up here, who had taken him, and why no one had come to ask him anything. Had he been kidnapped and then discarded in this desolate place because he was deemed worthless?
Feeling uneasy about this completely unfamiliar place, Ji Feng looked around for a long time but saw no sign of human presence.
"Whatever, if I'm here, I might as well make the best of it. No one cared about me in my old life, and even my only girlfriend left me for a rich man. I'm thirsty, so I'll get a drink of water first."
Ji Feng quickly calmed his nervousness and fear, walked to the lake, washed his hands, and then cupped some lake water to drink.
"Really sweet!"
Instantly, a refreshing and soothing sensation filled his chest, flowing through his veins and making every pore on his body open up, making him feel incredibly comfortable.
After drinking a few more sips of the sweet lake water, Ji Feng noticed something: bubbles occasionally appeared at the bottom of the lake, as if there were many springs bubbling up, which explained the sweetness.
However, Ji Feng was puzzled again. The lake water was almost at the edge of the shore, but there was not a single drop overflowing, which was indeed a miracle.
Shaking his head, he dismissed the question. It didn't matter to him.
Taking another deep breath of the fresh air, Ji Feng walked towards the two large red gates. He would first see if anyone was there, and at least figure out where he was and how to get back. Although this place was indeed nice, it wasn't his home, and he would have to consider whether to stay.
